So...off topic...anyone have any suggestions for Baking with Amber this week?
I'm making a lemon pound cake tomorrow (for my sister), but beyond that I'm out of ideas...
How about a souffle? It sounds challenging.
I just hate that these people seem to be the majority of people claiming to be Rent fans these days. I don't want to be associated with people like that act like that, because they're just embarassing. I was a Rent fan when I was 15 too, but I can't imagine EVER acting like that and being so disrespectful to a performer. It's just disappointing, because Rent is a show that deserves much better.
By the way, Adam didn't have the brown leather jacket at Cortland- he was wearing a black one. If he had the brown one, I would have laughed.

So true skittles, when I was like 13 I was a bit of a fangirl for Ben Affleck, I'll admit it. But if I had EVER gotten the chance to meet him I would never act the way that some 17 year olds are acting towards the Rent cast. And that counts for online too, there is a difference between joking around and using someone's kids for your LJ icon, y'know?
I'm still young, but I can assure that I don't act as immaturely as most of those people.
Ugh. BWW is doing that weird refreshing thing that you guys were complaining about last week.
Off-topic completely, but I'm so annoyed I have to say something. So, let the ranting begin.
As some of you know for the past four months I've been reading Gregory Maguire's Wicked. I finished it at 3 am last night when I couldn't sleep. I am so disappointed in the ending, it left so many things unanswered. Especially things that I was waiting to be answered since halfway through the book. It spent way too much time describing things that still made no sense and not enough on Dorthoy and what I feel were the more important parts of the story.
Okay, I found this amusing anyway, so I thought some of you might enjoy it...
The trivia question at Starbucks here today asks for the definition of the word "esoteric." I got it right solely because I had looked it up in regards to Chess. So, yay, being slightly obsessed with Chess is in a roundabout way worth 10% off of my coffee. Now I've had that line stuck in my head all evening....
Edit: I agree, Sarah, I enjoyed Wicked most of the way through (though In the Vinkus was a challenge), but the ending is pretty unfulfilling. And don't even bother trying to muddle through Son of a Witch, which after skimming (mainly getting so bored that I skipped to the ending), made me want to throw the book against the wall.

Fandom is a strange thing. Not being a part of any other fan communities, I can't compare, but Rent doesn't seem to always get the kind of fans it deserves, certainly.
By the way, the person who b*tched about Adam on IMDb also posted a lengthy complaint about one of Anthony's book signings - the space was too small and airless, the people there were creepy, and the signing went by way too fast. Obviously someone who is difficult to please.

I know there are plenty of younger people with lots of sense here on BWW, I don't get why some people in that age group were never taught how to act online or face to face with actors they admire.
Amber, I have no idea what you could bake, you always have such good ideas though, I'm sure you'll think of something.
That's cool, Ashley. I love it when I know random things bacause of musical theater. It makes me feel productive.
I stopped reading Wicked about halfway through.
Amber, one of my favorites is coffeecake, though I haven't made it for a while. I like the Bisquik recipe that has a brown sugar/cinnamon/butter crumble on top.

Son of a Witch wasn't really worth the time...I stopped caring not even halfway through, but finished it anyways.
I thoroughly enjoyed Wicked though. Open ended doesn't always work, but I thought in this case, it did. I AM glad I read it well in advance of seeing the musical...I've had too many friends that put down the book because it was so different. As much as I like the musical, the book is still far more interesting...

Hee, Ashley. My super smart friend used that word once in conversation with me. I looked it up immediately when I got home and now find ways to slip it into my conversation all the time. The way Danish Svetlana pronounces it bothers me!
I haven't attempted to read Wicked. I don't have much of an interest, I guess.

Okay, you guys all probably discussed this a while ago, but I just recently saw my tape of Adam in Cold Case (I was seeing Raul in Company when it aired), and I thought he was great. The show seems pretty good too, I had never heard of it, but it looks like something I could get into if I had the time, lol.
Sarah, I didn't like the ending of Wicked either. I just felt like a lot of important aspects were left dangling. I mean, they might be answered in Son of a Witch, but considering the sequel wasn't planned until after the original book's success, it was entirely too vague.
Ash, I had "purloin" on my SAT in the analogies section.
I loathe when people use age as an excuse for acting like a fool.

"I loathe when people use age as an excuse for acting like a fool." A-freakin-men.
And nope, Son of a Witch didn't tie any loose ends. In fact, it actually made things more complicated and confusing than they originally were.

Me too! I can't stand it. That's part of the reason why I hate admitting my age.

Ah yes, being colorblind...and just severely nearsighted in general I wouldn't have noticed.
Remind me to never again lose my glasses right before an Adam concert.
I found Wicked (the novel) incredibly depressing. It just seemed as though almost every character I liked was killed off in the most brutal manner possible. Maybe my opinion of it is colored by my not reading it until after I saw the show, but it wasn't really my cup of tea.
Awesome--I love it when I can connect things back to musicals or other interesting things.
I don't mind the way Svetlana in the Danish cast says "esoterics"...I guess I just kind of assumed that that was the standard British pronounciation.

Bohemian, you shouldn't be embarassed to admit your age. I've never judged someone strictly based upon their age. Your posts have always seemed very calm and mature to me.
Hm, Ash, it must be. I've never heard it pronounced that way, but then again, how often do you really hear that word?
Thanks, Lexi. I've been less embarassed lately. People seem to be okay with it.

On the way to the grocery store...I realized why I can never listen to Under Pressure (the real one) again (this was not totally random, it was on the radio)...always ends in questionable thoughts of sparkly pants and alcohol...ha...

Sorry to be a pain, but can someone upload that for me? I know there's a link to it on Michael's website and you can download what is essentially a link to the RealVideo file on the site's server, but I used to have the actual video on my hard drive. I don't want to beg on the LJ community. Heh.
