Elphie, if you don't have wisdom teeth, consider yourself lucky. Most people don't have mouths big enough to accommodate them and therefore have to have them removed before they get infected or start pushing their other teeth around. I'm sorry to hear that you'll have to have all of that other stuff done, though.

I don't know if I have wisdom teeth or not. I feel silly.

Elph, you hit the orthodontic jackpot!

Fantab, the dentist has to take an X-ray unless they've already broke the surface.

Well I'm thinking it would have been mentioned the other day at the dentist if they were there. I'm just gonna keep thinking that.

Fantabulous, chances are that they're there, but just aren't causing any problems that would require them to be removed very soon. Hey, you could wind up being one of the lucky people who has them all grow in just fine and not need to have anything done - my dad has all 4 of his wisdom teeth and never had any trouble with them.

I hate retainers. Are we actually expected to where them for the rest of our lives?

My mouth is currently coated in plastic. I have two of those formfitting tray type things.

My jaw does not line up, either. It's impossible, but my orthodontist insists on trying- he's been at it for five or six years. I've learned how to fake him out, though. There is no way in hell I am getting braces again. I'll live with a ****ed up jaw; my teeth are straight and that's all I care about.

I still wear my retainers every night, and my braces came off about 5 years ago. I don't know if I still need to wear them, but my orthodontist recommends wearing them at least every other night forever, and I get the feeling my mom would kick my ass if I stopped wearing them.

nia, your teeth are impressively straight, though.

You know what I hated? Those damned rubber bands.

I have two retainers right now. I despise them. With a passion.

My teeth moved slightly because I stopped wearing my retainers for a couple of weeks. Let's just say my mother was not too pleased with me.

If we're talking about despised orthodontic appliances, anyone else have a palid expander? That was a pretty awful experience. You have to tighten it with a key. I was always afraid my mother was going to drop it down my throat.

Ergh, I stopped wearing mine and now I'm in corrective retainers. Let that be a lesson to you , children!

Not only did rubber bands hurt like hell, they were such a pain to attach. My least favorite thing would have to be the headgear, though. It's damn near impossible to sleep comfortably when you have one of those things strapped around your face.

I got such headaches from then pulling on my jaw.

I also had to wear.... a nightbrace. AHHH.

I bet it hurt to put them back in, too. I'm lazy about mine. If I don't feel like it, I don't wear them.

I might have to have surgery in my mouth. Some of my molars came in ninety degrees in the wrong direction. The ortho wants to cut out part of my gum, move the teeth and stitch me back up.

Over my dead body.

Thanks, Emcee. They'd better be, for what my parents paid.

Yeah, Jose was who I meant 5...4...3...Open Sesame! Squealed when I saw him.

And I know this is gonna come as a shock but I looooooooved the movie. Was drawn into the story from the start...too bad I completely predicted the ending, comes from seeing too many movies over a lifetime...god, Jake's adorable...they could have done a better job of aging everyone though...and bawled, which movie musicals aside, I haven't done since In America(I cry easily at shows, not movies for some reason). But yeah amazing!

Billboard, you had headgear? Do describe.

Rubber bands- AHHH. Those were THE worst. I couldn't open my mouth at times, which made me wonder what their REAL purpose was. I've had to wear six at a time.

Yeah Em, a nightbrace is what I was talking about when I said headgear. Except I didn't think of it as a nightbrace because my mom made me wear it whenever I was at home, not just at night.

I never had braces, though my teeth are a little crooked, dentist said I never needed them *shrug* So no braces, retainer, it's been good...just the horrifying hours of giving me 10 fillings when i was 4...

And...is it just be or has all of BWW both main and OT board felt pretty boring/dead aside from this thread lately?

I only had to sleep in it, thankfully. But I used to suck my thumb, which was part of my problem ANYWAY, and with the nightbrace, I couldn't do that.

I can't believe I actually had a sticker in my mouth directing my mother which way to turn the key.

My mother never had braces and she has the most perfect teeth. Not fair.

Em, I sucked my thumb too! For about 8 years. What's worse is that not only did I suck my thumb, but I use to pull out my hair too. Don't ask. I try to repress those memories.
