"SD, don't be sorry! I definitely wanted to read about the show, but I guess I thought I was going to read these people's posts about THE SHOW, not about their projections of what angry Rentheads insist Daphne was thinking, you know?"
Oh, okay! I felt really bad last night because I thought that you felt I was trying to incite something on this thread. I would have liked to have heard about the actual music she played too, but considering that post was on a Rent LJ community, most people are going to ask about Rent above all else.
Allie, Death of a Salesman is fab! I read it last year and had the pleasure of seeing a local production of it this year. Absolutely amazing.
Edit: I don't know how many of you read the posts from last night, but here's the article I was looking for:

I'm sure many of you have already seen it, but I was happy that I finally got to read it. Thanks for looking last night anyway, Em!

She saw one of the last performances of Aida a few years ago, and pretty much fell in love.
She was listening to Model Prisoner too, which really surprised me. I'd expect people to maybe listen to Rent or Aida or something. I mean, how many people actually own Model Prisoner? I don't even own it. *hangs head in shame*
It just made me happy.
I wish.
Mandi, that's so cool!
Ooh, that's a great article, siamese! I'm glad you found it. Lots of great Adam quotes (and it's nice to see an article from way back then and realize that he's just as refreshingly honest now), and I just loved this line from the article (heh, it figures that the bizarre Photoshop mention in the title would be an interesting one):
"Granted, the talk of easy drag-and-drop features is nothing more than mindless chatter to me at this point, but watching Pascal ease out of one conversation and into another makes me wonder how a casting director ever wondered about his ability to connect with people, eyes opened or closed."
"I mean, how many people actually own Model Prisoner?"
Heh, even though I know this was a rhetorical question, I immediately started searching for the Soundscan numbers someone sent me a month and a half ago.
That article was fun. I like finding things from long ago. When I first was into Rent the Internet was not quite as wonderful as it is now...information was scarce and even seeing a small horrible quality picture was totally exciting. To think what it has become now ... :)
Well, he's certainly as candid now as he was back then. But, I don't think he would speak in the same way as he did in that article. Perhaps now that he is a more well known, respected artist and performer, he feels the need to be a tad more "safe" in what he says.
ACK!
Have you guys been following all this $%*$&%*$& that is coming out about a Million Little Pieces and My Friend Leonard? It's making me feel SO letdown ...

I don't always listen to the Smoking Gun but it was on Good Morning America today too, and other news sources are beginning to take note.
Yea, it even made front page news on AOL today. As a person who just finished A Million Little Pieces and who has not been able to put down My Friend Leonard, I don't really think any of this stuff is influencing the way I'm reading the books. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they saying he lied about how long he was in prison? In the grand scheme of things, does that even matter?
I am working my way through the rest of the smoking gun article, but it looks like they are alleging that a lot more then that was made up. There are no records for any arrests other than the hitting the Ohio cop one ... and apparently although Leonard picks up on day 87 of the jail time, there was no jail time.
The weirdest part, I think, is that he tried to sell it as a fiction book first, but then after being turned down by lots of publishers he "took the untrue" stuff out and published it as a memoir. Hmmm...

so yesterday while I was watching the Critics Choice Awards, I got to thinking about how sad it would be if RENT ended up winning no awards, ever, for this movie.
And then, somehow, I ended up thinking it would be a really cool idea if all of us at broadway world, compulsive bowlers, forget-regret, livejournals, and any other big messageboard that I forgot, wrote a thank you letter to everybody who worked with RENT (cast, chris, the larsons, etc) thanking them for making this movie and the journey that they let us have. I know that we've all left comments on the blog site, but I thought it might be nice to write one big letter, including everybody who wrote online, and sent it to them. Idk, I thought it might be kinda special..maybe its just corny.
I like that idea, Mel. The story of Rent is more powerful and touching than another other story I've ever heard, and although the movie may not be as powerful as the show, it still touched so many other people. Personally, I think the cast and crew of the movie did a fantastic job, and deserve more recognition for their efforts.
I'm not sure how we'd organize such a project, but it'd be so cool.

No problem, Snowbird!
My sister is going to be devestated when she sees all this A Million Little Pieces stuff. She is someone who HATES to read, but she completely immersed herself in this novel. When he was on Oprah, nobody was allowed to talk while the show was on.

A Million Little Pieces was really good. Definitely one I couldn't put down.
I used to read a lot, but in the past couple of years I've kind of slowed down. I've read quite a few books in the past month, though. And I can't wait to get started on the one I bought today!
Heeey, Emcee, how was your day? And how was that party last night?

Please come take some of my food, Emcee. I can't seem to stop eating this evening, ugh. Bad, bad, bad.
I had one, orangeskittles, but it's in the pile of "DO NOT TOUCH" books, so I can take it back in April and get some money for it, since I'm not taking the class anymore! I'll probably be able to use the extra $80 or so by then, hehe.
