I always find so much amusement in actually going out to buy a new CD... so I think I'll just do that, rather than order it.

emcee-ditto.
chloe- I'm With You is like my theme song. I love it. I listened to Model Prisoner the other day (I had Liken A Razor stuck in my head) and I never realized how different his 2 cd's are. Civilian is more like screamy rock, where MP is like laid back rock.
And of course it will show up in stores - I keep forgetting that this is a big movie and a big record company putting out the CD. The whole thing still feels a little like a secret to me.
Something silly in me looks forward to getting out of class that day and running down to Virgin or Tower or Barnes and Noble to get my copy.
Yes, it will be fun, though I'm not sure how I'll be able to get it - maybe at lunch break. And then I won't be able to play it until I get home!
Ponine, Adam's two CD's really are different and I'm glad there's so much variety to them. I'm With You is definitely a favorite, and after that maybe Cellophane Sun.
(Another flashback: Adam at the Knitting Factory talking to someone in the audience who reminded him that he'd promised to play that song. He said that lots of people there could tell her that unfortunately he promised things all the time and never followed through. He was in a weird mood that night.)

ha. I remember that. Via cellphone.
Amazing that you could hear him that well.
I've just been looking at the Julia Murney thread - that picture of Raul, Adam and Julia must be heaven for you! And I've always loved that series from the Chess rehearsal. Where's your avatar from - a Chess site?
I could hear surprisingly well! And I most of the bucket story. Oh God. He was in an odd mood, though - I could even tell it just by audio.
That picture is... that's just a lot of love. I was going to use it for my avatar, but it came out being too squished. This one is from the Actors' Fund website, though.

that pictures is awesome.
Too squished? Everyone was too small you mean? But I like the one you've got - Adam getting angry, Julia looking sort of Greek goddessy. Boy do I wish I'd seen this.
Yeah, it just... you couldn't really tell who it was a picture of.
I love this scene. It was before the sailing hands, so before things got... wonky on Adam's part. It's just so fierce, as is Ms. Murney.

ok this is a dumb question, but if the actor's fund recorded Hair, why didn't they record Chess? (i know that someone asked this, but is there any "official" reason?)
Did you see Chess, Ponine? I don't remember if you live around NYC or not. So Adam had "sailing hands" in Chess as well as Aida? Don't remember hearing about that. I take it this scene is their big breakup.
There was some sort of rights issue, ponine. I think it was one of two problems:
Either something to do with the fact that Chess has been re-worked so so many times, and that there are many different recordings - though I don't know what specifically the problem would be.
OR, that Josh Groban's record label didn't want him, as "their" artist to record with another label, whoever was planning to record Chess.

Chloe-I live about an 40 minutes away from NYC out on LI. I didn't get to see Chess though.
Emcee-Oh. ok. now i see. thanks for explaining. :)
Hmm, that's pretty amazing, since I also live on LI about forty minutes from NYC! Are we the same person?
ETA: we passed 11,000 posts a few back -- weren't we at 10,000 just a few days ago?

hahaha how ironic!
and yay for reaching 11,000 posts.
I live on the south shore - what about you?
Congrats, lovely Adam thread, for passing 11000 posts a second time around!!
Chess benefit = amazing. I really wish they had *officially* recorded it. Julia, Adam, Raúl, Sutton, and Josh Groban!! Simply amazing...
And where are these soundclips you speak of?? I really want to hear them!!
Hey Diva - they're part of the RENT movie site, not the blog but the site itself. There's an audioplayer up now, though I gather that it hasn't been showing up for everyone. The clips sound pretty bad on my computer, low fi computer sound combined with my tinny little comp speakers, but at least it's something new.
Have fun!

Hi, what have I missed?
Hi nia! Well, for one thing see the post right before yours. How are you?

Unable to find aforementioned clips, under stress and underpaid, but everything's alright, everything's fine...
I saw JCS MONTHS ago and I still can't get that tune out of my head.
Emcee's off to see bwaysinger, but that's about all I know.
And I read back a bit- can't all these writers figure out some kind of new thread title? We're still using mine from how long ago?
*sighs* I've got to do everything. *changes* I'm a writer too. Straight fiction.
I never think about the thread title - thank god you're back to care of these things. Sorry you can't find the clips, they don't show up for everyone for some reason. It's only a few weeks until the CD comes out, anyway.
I'm a big Johnny Depp fan, by the way. I worked with him quite a while ago and found him to be incredibly polite and considerate.
