Yes, me too, but apparently Adam started telling jokes while he was ON THE STRETCHER. On the video he starts out telling the story in kind of a funny way, and Sherie interrupts and says that it was one of the most horrifying things she's ever been through, but then by the end she's laughing about how Adam was lying on a stretcher waiting to go in for X-rays, and she asked him if he wanted her to take off his sandals - because they were both still wearing their costumes at the hospital. So she starts trying to get one of them off, and he's going "ow, ow, ow" and then she sees that he has a huge lump on his foot that's preventing if from coming off.
Sorry if I'm spoiling the tapes for anyone planning on getting them, but I figure not everyone will get to see them.
No, it only makes me want to get them even more! I love Adam so much more each time I see him talking...it shows more of his personality than just singing, although we love to hear Adam sing! Speaking of the chatterbox tapes, I gotta check that out again...I was a bit confused when I saw this list of tapes and then like things to fill out and addresses, I dunno what I'm saying.. Can one of you explain to me how you purchased the tapes for this poor confused soul??
Well, when he tells it now he certainly laughs about it.
On the Cabaret chatterbox, I think he says he bruised his butt.
In a technical sense, I'd be curious to see what it looked like suspended; perhaps a bit more optimistic with that idea of ascension to the stars... I always thought it would look silly, but that is an interesting concept. *sigh*

So in Chicago it rose off of a platform, or off the stage?
I have no idea - there's a little picture of a prototype in the AIDA book, and it looks like it was on a platform that went up, not actually suspended in mid-air, or hanging or whatever.

It's still scary!
Hey, I'm about a dozen posts away from becoming a legend!
Damn, I just lost my whole post about ordering the tapes!
Starting again...
You can either pick them up in person or do mail order. For the first, you order online and indicate which available date you want to pick them up. The pick up times are just before a Chatterbox session, which are most Thursdays at six. They're held at a club in the theater district and the address is on the site, of course.
To mail order, print out the form, indicate which tapes you want, put in a check or money order ($25 each) and mail to the address on top of the form. They warn that it may take some time because the whole operation is done by volunteers, but I think mine came in about ten days.
Hope that helps!
I was just about to ask about that, Allie.

Ask what? The cereal thing on the other thread? Yeah, NO idea!
No, how your "become a legend" mission was going.

OH, gotcha. Good, good! I'm at 988 after I post this. But I'm calling it a night. It's after midnight, and I'm exhausted! I'll enjoy it more tomorrow, I think. OOO, this is esciting!
Goodnight!
"and it looks like it was on a platform that went up"
Yeah, I think it was some sort of a lift, which for some reason gave out. Can you imagine how the designer felt? *phew*
Heart attack time, for sure. I think they called it a scissor lift. Amasis, I really like your signature. It's all too apropos.
Yep, a scissor lift. *tries to imitate chain-saw-esque noise Adam made as he described it falling*
Yeah, that was funny!
Emcee, I was excited to see that you're a Jeffrey Wright fan. I really like him too, saw him in Noise/Funk and Topdog/Underdog. I love his voice. He could probably make a fortune doing voice-overs, but I doubt if he'd want to do that.
He probably could, and I love his voice, too. I "discovered" him in Angels in America (the movie... sadly not the play) but he's brilliant. I'm really excited to see him in person.
Yes, it should be good. I know you're not a big movie fan, but his best film part is probably in Basquiat - it's a tour de force study of the advant-garde artist of that name. Shaft is a pretty bad movie, but he has an hilariously over-the-top supporting role as a Dominican drug dealer. He kind of steals the show, what there is of it. He also played Martin Luther King in an HBO film, but I can't remember the name of it.
All right, girls, I just need to fix something here. This is where my obsessive compulsive disorder comes in bad (besides obsessin over Adam of course) You don't have to read this I'm mad and rambling 'cause it's that time of night.
OKay, I just went back to page 431 to read what was said about "boobs" Adam's publicist, and reading on, I just can't believe what a big deal was made about the "muppets." I've already vented about this but it really is bothering me that all of you think we were just "12 yr olds who think he's cute" That is the last thing I want to be thought of as an Adam fan.
Although I wasn't the one doing most of the squealing, I was with them and we were all extremely excited and did not realize Adam would be right there in front of us, and I guess we were taking advantage of not being able to do that in a theatre. I felt so bad after a while and was trying to calm them down, as excited as I was, because I know there were people there trying to enjoy Adam's music and really give him some respect as an artist. My little sister was 12, yes, and doesn't know Adam like we do, so for her yeah, it was just like "oo this is so cool!" and she got a little carried away. The others we had just met there and we are all 15. We know what Adam is talking about in Book of Endings and were just being pround of being those crazy stalkers!
We did sound really obnoxious and annoying, and I almost didn't want to be squished into that tiny spot with them, but I just have to get this clear. ..I'm not totally sure about the others, but I know I have a deeeeep love for Adam. I've come to understand the way he is, all that he's done with his life, and how he made it through in his career. I love his voice and think it is the most amazing unique sound ever heard; and I understand where he came from with his kind of music and tryng to bring back classic rock. I love classic rock because of him. After really getting into MP, I've really learned to appreciate his music and understand his songwriting. I am so happy for him with Civilian and how far he's made it.
Reading every thing about Adam there is, especially when you want to, can really make you understand him. This whole thing sounds so pathetic for me, but I just wanted to clarify that when you hear Adam fans screaming "I LOVE YOU ADAM!", for some people it reallly does mean they lOOOVve him...everything about him and not just because he's hot. It just kills me that you think someone can actually find out about Adam and only love him for his looks. Right when he opens his mouth, there's no avoiding falling in love with and gaining a deep appreciation for his voice.
And I just have to say, for a while I was just alone, trapped in my Adam obsession with everyone else around me thinking I'm crazy and just not understanding Adam. I am soo glad you guys are all here, and I feel so much better finding that there are fangirl things I am not the only one doing! And it's not just like we all like him cuz he's hot and a good singer. Every real fan of his knows and understands him, and I just think that's a great thing to share with eachother. I am proud of being an Adam freak and I know you guys are too, but I just hope you know I love him for him, and I am not one of those surface fans.
I've just gotten some major fangirlish fumes out.
REALLY REALLY sorry for the length...
Chloe, the one reason I usually see movies is for reasons like that. Sense a pattern: Phantom, The Alamo, School of Rock... that's basically it for the movies I've seen in theatres recently.
So thanks! I'll check that out. I adore him, and maybe should get to know some more of his work before seeing him in the flesh. YAY!
AdamAddict - I haven't read back to see who said what, but I think I remember having this conversation with you before. I'm sorry if anything I said offended you, or anyone you were with, but it was a complete general statement. I know those can be bad, but I think you also know that I know (Jesus, I feel like I'm singing TTB's "Therapy") you're older than the majority of the kids I was talking about in whatever I may have written. I also understand where that comes from, because i'm not really that much older than you - and I've certainly done my share of "ADAM I LOVE YOU!!" while he's been on stage. But, it's been five years since the discovery of day one, and then over a year of personal stuff, that has made the way I view him completely different. And, from what you're saying, it seems like you're hitting that transition, too... which is very cool. It's a neat little right of passage.
......*is happy again*
Chloe - heart attack sounds about right. And thanks for the signature comment -- Bertrand Russel is one of my favorite philosophers.
As for people's reaction to the Joe's Pub crowd. Well, I wasn't there, but I think when a group of people draw attention to themselves the way it was described by QM, then surely they should expect some reactions. Anyway, adamaddict, if it doesn't apply to you, then don't worry about it.

That's one of my problems...I worry about other people's feelings when usually they are oblivious! :-p
Wait, who's having a heart attack?
I'm so spaced out... and so sick. Someone just smack me, PLEASE.
*SMACK*
I was talking about how it must have felt to be in the design team, especially if you were one of the people responsible to get that tomb to work... and then to see it tumbling down with the actors inside.

Oh, yeah. I do think that poor person might have a heart attack, then.
I just saw 9 Parts of Desire, and I think my head is spinning.
