Why do I have a feeling I'm gonna regret starting this thread? Oh well, couldn't help myself. At least two of you I know better start posting here. If you don't, you relinquish your right and I no longer have to be a good sharer. But maybe if we have this thread, we don't hafta be such Gerry whores in AIM chat every night...

God I love my icon...how many times have I said that since I've got it? Oh well. I love my icon. And I love the Phantom movie and it's 46 days till the special 2-disc DVD comes out(thanks Zeppie-glad you're keeping it updated) and then we get lots more behind scenes and hopefully more Gerry footage...yaay.

Okay, this will hopefully be fun.

Omgosh, I LOVE him! I was all star struck while watching POTO. Hehehe. I personally think he played a really good Phantom. Not the best but he's still really great. And I love his voice. (people, don't hate me. hehehe)

Grrr, I made another post and then the site shut down. Oh well, it's worth it to retype it for Gerry--wish I knew exactly what I wrote...

Ooh, I think I replied to MissMonika about his voice. I actually really like the sound of his speaking voice in the movie, and he thought it was incredible that I never would have been able to tell he was Scottish. I'll admit it may not have been the best vocals ever, but in my opinion, they were satisfactory enough and were more than made up for by his superior acting. He just captured everything-the sex appeal, the lust, the love, the loneliness, and the anger...and did I mention sex appeal? Surprisingly, he was also the best lip syncher of anyone, and he was the one who wasn't a professional singer. I thought he was really undeserving of all the criticism he received.

And I happen to think Point of No Return between him and Emmy was phenomenal-the passion and Chemistry and once again his sex appeal(ahh) was just perfect--, I can't wait for the DVD to come and I can play that scene and Music of the Night a lot and title song where he keeps turning back and forth sexily...

Wow, I'm glad we already have a couple of fans here, not including SallyBrown or Midnight Dolphin. Don't worry, I can single-handedly keep this thread alive!

So...who else loves my icon? Hehe.

Munk, the best I could suggest is GerardButler.com, there's a lot of good pics there like my icon, though I can't guarantee there's any of him in the white and wet..I'm sure I would have noticed, but I know the one I picked was my fav, but there are certainly great pictures there, check it out anyway.

i didn't even know that he was Scottish. i couldn't tell at all. "The Point of No Return" was so incredible. You're (wickedrentq) so right about capturing all the elements that song is supposed to portray. And I don't think he deserved all of that negative criticism because he was actually really great. oh, i so definitely love your icon, by the way.

i heard he's going to be in a movie called Beowulf and Grendel?? i wonder when that comes ou.

Yeah, I didn't know he was Scottish either until..I think it was when he and Emmy presented at the Critic's Choice Awards and I heard him speak, I was in shock.

He was also in Dracula 2000(never saw it, but am slightly interested in borrowing from library or something) and Lara Croft 2...not at all a great movie but you do get to see him shirtless and then handcuffed...nice little scene.

Right now he's in Dear Frankie, a Scottish film, which from what I briefly read on rottentomatoes.com is getting fantastic reviews, I'd love to see it, I hope it comes to our theaters soon. Don't know anything about the other movie you mentioned, though it sounds slightly familiar.

Oh well, Sally isn't quite legal to do the things we want to, so I can handle that part sharing with one person...

But my Gerry thread will stick around longer than yours, so I should get him more because umm...I win. Haha.

Has anyone else seen Gerry in Mrs. Brown? In that movie you can tell he's scottish, but in one interview I saw him in he sounded Irish and then I saw Mrs. Brown again(saw it when I was very little so I couldn't remember it) and he sounded really scottish. Gotta love that accent and everything. Kind of funny my bf knows I think he's sexy, but he actually doesn't mind. Hehehe but then that's our movie since we saw it twice in the theatre and that was just before we started going out(I don't think he'll read this ramble. Here's hoping).

I really enjoyed him in POTO and actually liked his portrayl. I also like his voice. I thought it worked better for certain songs and was a good choice. Plus you have to give the guy credit because it was his first musical film/stage so really the stuff he did was pretty good. And lastly I'm glad that they chose him and not an older man. All of the Phantoms I've seen have been middle aged men and it was nice to see someone a bit younger take on the role.

So props for Gerry!

Exactly. And I don't understand the animosity towards him - I thought he was fantastic in the PHANTOM movie...

Dolphin, that was a terrific scene but I think the one problem is of course he looks great in anything, I just particularly like how he looks with the wig in Phantom and no small facial hair, so I dunno, it's a toss-up...but that scene is still awesome.

Racetrack, never saw the movie...but I agree about Phantom, again I think considering he never sang before he really did a good job, and if he chose to pursue it further I think he could be a great singer, plus like he talked about on the "Ellen" show, he worked so hard to learn singing, he was practicing every spare moment he had, that's dedication. I actually like his distinct voice, I don't know how well I can explain it...like, when he sang Wandering Child and PONR you knew it was him and it's very distinct...I don't know if that makes sense, but I just love the sound of it.

And yes, I'm glad they went younger with the Phantom. I have some friends who argue it was totally wrong because the Phantom wasn't supposed to be attractive, but I don't mind. I think it just made everyone understand the appeal better, and perhaps feel more for his character then they would ordinarily. But I still have arguments with my friends who was cuter--Gerry or Patrick. Oh well.
