Yeah I thought his voice was very distinct and that's what I liked. It was very different from your traditional person and I thought it was a good choice.

I have read the book and saw the movie and I tend to not feel badly for the Phantom in the book. Especially since he's kind of pshyco(spelling? I"m really tired damn rehearsals!) and I liked it played more subletly and though his take was very good.

Dear Frankie is in limited areas. My bf and I were going to try and see it but it's playing not really far, but parents wouldn't want to drive there.

Racetrack...wow I've posted this on way too many threads...if you want to read a great book dealing with POTO that it is just impossible to not feel for the Phantom, it really represents his side and life and everything...try to find Susan Kay's "Phantom." It's out-of-print, so libraries or Amazon are your best bet but I highly recommend it. Ooh, and do you know some of the limited areas--like somewhere in the city or something because it's nowhere in my surrounding counties otherwise.

Page 2 already guys, woohoo! Yaay for the Gerry love.

grr, I'm keeping this thread on the first page...bump!

Hmm...this may take a lot of posts from me...oh well, I'm up for it.

Let's see...what is everyone's favorite song/scene of Gerry's from the Phantom movie? I've said this before, though I love lots, it's probably gotta be Point of No Return.

I've seen a lot of sexy yet disfigured people in my life... but Gerry tops the list! (even if it is makeup)

Haha, I agree Nipper. Even when the mask was off and he was "disfigured" and had different hair, I still found him more attractive than most men in the world.

Had to share this, though I will be a good girl and not change the thread name...

In chat I was talking about how much I love my thread, and Cats said "It might as well be called the 'I Wanna F*** Gerard Butler thread." Can't say that is not true....haha

Well Sally, aside from your mommy not liking it, there is the slighly illegal factor...

No no no, not for you guys, SallyBrown's 14, so for her it would be illegal.

And for you guys, I'm pretty sure Gerry doesn't go that way..

Then again I should talk...it's not like I've even met him so I'm far away from my goal..though when waiting on the DRS lotto line to get our tickets, my friend and I were talking about me going to the Rent set and she said something like if I meet Adam and Idina I could die happy, to which I responded that no, I would die happy if I could f*** Gerard Butler, and this girl behind us, who I talked to a bit, was really nice, said she lurked here, was like oh, I know him....so I kinda turned around was took a pause and then fully introduced myself. She said he's friends with her mom, though she's never met him. I told her my name on here and told her if he's ever in the city and I can somehow meet him I'd be eternally, eternally grateful, so we'll see. Yeah, if I ever actually met him...I'd be lucky to get a "hi" out.

Bump...40 days till the DVD comes out.

My paper has a small section on parental guide to movies and Dear Frankie was in it...it came I think from the Washington Post so hopefully it will start playing here soon. It's gotten great reviews I think, though it's pretty-known to be sappy. Oh well, Gerry made me cry in Phantom too.

I cried at Phantom which I hadn't done before. Weird. I guess a different chord was struck when I saw the film than when I saw it when I was 12.

Same with me Racetrack--I think it was more than just the age difference. The movie made me feel more intimate, closer to the action and Gerry's performance just really made at least me feel for him, so that's why I cried.

On another note, I'm visiting friends in DC this weekend and Dear Frankie was playing in a movie theatre right near them--till Thursday, and I'm coming Friday. Hrmph.

Another slightly funny story:

There was a small snippet about Gerry in a small magazine that comes with our newspaper. So my mom calls me in and asks if I knew he was 35, I was like yeah...so she proceeds to tell me he is too old for me.

Gah. I was like Ma, I'm not...really...planning...on...marrying the guy. It was pretty funny, she's just never said something like that before. Oh well.

Lol. That's funny what your mom said.

Maybe I could actually see the movie(with glasses I mean) because when I was 12 I needed glasses really badly and my parents didn't believe me until I told them I couldn't see much of the stage. Kind of funny.

Also I guess I thought that for the movie they made the Phantom less grotesque and more mysterious. I don't even know if that's the right wording for it, but for one reason or another I could sympathize with the Phantom more than I ever could in other versions I saw and also in reading the book. Who knows what it was completely, but I really enjoyed it.

I guess I see what you mean. I somehow end up mentioning this on like every thread, but it's so great I have to keep mentioning it...and i apologize if I mentioned it on this thread already, wouldn't put it past me. But if you really want to read a work that one is completely able to sympathize with the Phantom is Susan Kay's novel "Phantom." It takes a look at his whole life through the events of "Phantom of the Opera." It puts a slightly different spin on it, one is really able to understand the connection between Christine and Erik and you just understand a lot more. I highly recommend it, it's the first book I ever read more than once.

In other news, I'm looking into renting "Dracula 2000." I have a feeling Gerry will be very sexy in that as well.

I'll check out the book. It sounds very interesting. On top of all of the other books I have to read.

Dracula 2000 is okay. It's not a great film (obviously). If you're a Johnny Lee Miller fan as well he's in that so you get a couple of really good looking guys. Gerry's not scary in that movie. A good movie with him is Mrs. Brown with Judi Dench and Billy Connelly as well. Really wonderful movie. Not upbeat, but just a wonderful movie to watch.
