Thats just what they want you to think I think...
Yes, but only on Wednesdays..and well, last time I checked..today was Thursday. So..I win.
Pfft...As we all know Thursdays has now been officially changed to The O.C day, therefore all original Wednesday related regulations are now defunct.
And you didn't say Happy Birthday to Gav so we might have to kick you off the island.

Happy Birthday Tomorrow Gav!
We're now the same age :)
ali-i had the SAME EXACT (well, not EXACT) situation!
you see, two of three of the biggest people who impacted my performing life the most have been my chorus and drama teacher.
SOO...because i LOVE them SO MUCH, and i know that they both LOVE jason robert brown (we talk about the last five years everytime we see eachother! haha) for christmas, i got them both an autographed headshot of jason. (*dont* ask me how!) and, well, when it was the day before break, i had the autographed pictures in my bag, and i was looking at them..and i was SO tempted to keep on for myself and just say that the other one was for BOTH of them, and that they'd have to share.
BUT...after MUCH debating, i gave each one their own, leaving none for me. and, well, ultimately, i think it paid off, because, the look on their faces was enought to make me extremely happy. (AND--i got a HUG! haha)
basically, just remember, giving is always better than recieving. but, then again, it's your call. :)
Hello Dre. Thanks for the comments re the avatar change. (I'm actually thinking of changing it again. But that's always easy to do!)
I don't know what the original thought processes were behind filming "To Kill a Mockingbird" in black and white. I do know that both the director and producer are very, very happy that it was done that way. The producer (Alan Pakula) mentioned that it captured the moment to moment honesty of the characters - the simplicity of the whole story. Director Robert Mulligan said that it would be absolutely heartbreaking if they tried to do it today, because they couldn't afford to do it in b&w! Apparently they don't get as much from the rights for showing b&w films on TV. Neither man could imagine how awful it would be if they tried to film it in color today.
I found a couple of other mentions - all done after the fact - that talk about the black and white film:
"One of the most notable aspects of the film—aside from the writing, acting, directing, etc.—is that it was shot in black and white at a time when most movies were being filmed in color. Visually, the film is stunning, as it literally and metaphorically deals entirely in shades of grey."
and this one:
"The cinematography by Russell Harlan and the set decoration by Oliver Emert carry us back through the courtesy of black and white to a depiction seen only in old photographs and clouding memories of those who lived in those precarious times. Black and white films seem to have had a curse thrust upon them by the younger generation today, as boring and tedious, but through the courtesies extended by Harlan and Emert, we are richer for those perceptions that would harken back throughout the pages of history."
thanks mamie! that's really cool. and I agree that they could never make a remake of it. It was too good, and I can not see anyone else taking the role of Atticus other than Gregory Peck. and around that time, the only color would be (to us) the old world color, like that in "Seven Brides For Seven Brothers" or some other color movies that I can't think of right now since I am watching Will and Grace, so I'll have to write later. yeah.
Hey Dre, when does the Bway radio show start up again? I miss it dearly.
jan. 27th, Ryan. and thanks for missing it. i miss it too.

dre - oh, just in two weeks, I thought I could enjoy it next week...wow, I miss it too apparently...
mamie - there is a cupple of movies I believe are far more superior just because the B&W color: I could not watch color-movies like: Sweet smell of success, Casablanca, From here to eternity
Good morning, Annie. I have to agree with you on that. I immediately thought of films like "Psycho". I think the black and white added to the spookiness of the film. I'm sure that with very little effort we could put together a whole list of films that are better by virtue of their being made in black and white.

morning
yeah, and All about Eve should not be missed from that list...I saw some color photos about Bette Davis's famous dress (I was laughing for two hours). NO COLORS PLEASE!
I added a touch of pink for Addy, but it does seem strange to see Scout with any color. I think that Ted Turner has ruined a lot of films by 'colorizing' them. I just wish they'd leave the classics alone!
Psycho is my all time favorite b/w movie. It was actually on today but I didn't watch it dut to the fact I was kicking my friends' butts at Hary Potter SceneIt.

Ali..keep it for yourself. You're the one who got it, and I mean she was gonna pay you for it, but now she doesn't hafta pay and a true friend would make a face at you, tell you that you suck, and move on.
But...let me know if this is REALLY bothering you, I certainly wouldn't count on getting Joanna and possibly not Sherie and maybe after Andrew and John leave but perhaps those aside, I'm sure I can be able to easily get and send to you to give to her a playbill or anything I can pick up signed by most of the cast. Maybe it will encourage me to finally bring my poster down to get Roxanne to sign it so it will officially be signed by the whole cast.
It's 5AM...I should be sleeping...yet I'm wide awake. I need a new schedule...
Well, had some good/bad timing tonight. Got down a bit early b/c I decided I wanted to lotto Hairspray--now I was a little disappointed the first time I saw Hairspray, felt it didn't live up to the hype, but got the CR, fell in love w/ it, went back a couple months ago and though I still don't think it's the best thing ever, I had fun, and now that the lotto's for the front row, it's very easy to win, and they got a new Link(I was very unhappy w/ the previous one, think he was a reason the show disappointed me). Got there at 5:30 to see...nobody. Asked if there was a lotto, they said the show's at 7 so it was at 4:30 but they still might have some for me if I go in and ask, so I did and they had one aisle seat left, so I got it. So that was good timing, between street parking and grabbing a bite, it was time for the show.
I guess I would now call it a guilty pleasure. It is a lot of fun and very enjoyable. And it really is awesome from the front, I've heard this from others but the pit is inside the stage so at times the actors were dancing so close to me I thought they were gonna fall on me. Did make for some lovely views though Very very close seats, that was cool. The current Edna and Wilbur are great, Edna always makes Wilbur laugh, but it was great to see his expression and him turn around to stop laughing and such, and then he/she had him laughing about carrying him/her up the stage and he/she looked down at all of us in the front row and pointed and said they'll help carry. It was great. And being on the aisle, most of the characters, run from the back up the stairs, someone's bobby pin fell right near my foot. So yeah, it really has become a guilty pleasure, though this Link is a big improvement.
What was bad is I had to entertain myself for 2 hours. Oh well. Oh, and not that this is awfully important, but the producers didn't want both Norbert and John to be out of any show, so that's why at least Norbert did the Sat matinee last week.
Oh and not that interesting but will mention anyway that I drove a close friend home who goes to college in the city who I don't see that often so it was nice, we went to the diner here till like 4, nice to know I'm not the only one in the county awake then
