It looks like those 70s ponchos with just the hole in the middle for your head
Oh, it does look rather blanket-like... That's no good at all!
He does look super young there though. Weren't the Cinci rehearsals, like, just over a year ago?
Yeah, early 2006.

Hey guys and gals...don't mean to intrude, but I thought I'd bring the return of "OMG" Raul. :)

cute avatar! I should change mine to support the big C
I love Kristin's column. Adam actually used to rock those sweaters back in the day, too.
Holy cow! It looks like his eyeballs are going to explode! lol!

you're not intruding, and wow! what is that from?
A while ago, Raul, Billy Crudup, Cherry Jones, David Hyde Pierce... and I can't remember who else did a seminar for the ATW -- it was a panel discussion about acting. It's a screencap from that. I made a few.
It's a really great panel; I fully recommend watching it if you have time. It's around an hour and a half, but it's cool to hear from a panel of such great performers. I think there's still a link to it in the recordings section of Raul's website. Updated On: 6/8/07 at 09:11 PM
Yeah, it was fascinating to watch -- even though I'm not an actor. You can also get to it on the ATW site.
Yeah, I really enjoyed it as well.
I'm liking all the Raul propaganda. My avatar isn't Company, but I love the picture so much
I think seeing that picture was when I decided he was really pretty.
You know, back in the day.
Speaking of realizations, mom and I were talking today about like, the advantages of really small, intimate theaters. I told her the first time I ever saw Raul was in a pretty tiny house, and that I think that intimacy contributed a lot to the way I felt so strongly about his talent literally right away.

I will have to watch that - thanks for the info.
Yes, this is definitely the team Company/Raul thread - there's no denying it based on the propaganda, which I just noticed, haha.
What are you guys doing on Sunday?
Having a few friends over, just a low-key thing. We'll order in Chinese or something. The internet in my dorm is down, so I'm hoping to find a place on campus somewhere that has internet access AND a TV; I want to be able to get online during the awards, and at least have one computer in the room.
I'll hopefully be talking online to the people at Emcee and Fantab's party, since I can't be there. And, well, last year involved a bottle of wine, so perhaps a repeat of that!
I hope we're able to get internet access. I can't imagine not being able to share it with you guys. I'm on medication with which you can't drink, so I'm kinda bummed about that. I was looking forward to a little celebratory toast!

That sucks. There was another thread that discussed someones Tony night menu, but I dont know if I'm making anything exciting. I drank way too much wine in Prague, so I'm not even going to go there. I feel like I should have something Company related
Our internet connection has been finicky for the last few weeks - its not a strong enough connection to keep the phone, internet and tv all running simultaneously, so we usually need to sacrifice my tv connection to keep the phones/net up.
I'm hoping for the best - if my TV goes out I'm going to throw something
It looks like I'm watching the Tonys by myself this year. Normally I try to force my sister/roomie to watch the show with me, but this year she'd talk through it, waiting for the Sopranos to start... (I'm just hoping the awards don't run long because she might make me miss the end.)
Sorry for the double post, but I just stumbled upon this video that I don't think has been linked to yet. The sound quality is a little tinny (or it could be that I haven't quite figured out how to use my new macbook), but it's a cute interview with Raul from a NY CBS affiliate.

Thank you! Lovely that that jacket seems to be making almost as many appearances as he does.
I'm having a little Tony party with just a few friends, too. The TV is downstairs and the internet upstairs, so I guess I'll be dashing back and forth during the breaks.

Emcee - I just saw your other post. I think venue size/atmosphere contributes a lot to one's perception of a performer. I stopped seeing Dave Matthews live just because I got tired of seeing him as a tiny speck at Giants Stadium after I was spoiled seeing him in really beautiful, smaller venues. Not to mention that his ticket prices went through the roof!
That poor jacket...its like Raul's version of the Gypsy robe
Actually, I think all those yellow jacket interviews were done as part of a giant Tony press gang bang done at the same press event. Another thing I like about our guy is how he manages to give non-repetitive, articulate, revealing answers to the same unimaginative questions.
One more day until the Tonys! I am anticipating a let-down in the weeks after his win, however, because we're not going to see as much of him as the pace slows down. As he says himself, the weeks leading up to the award ceremonies are the best times.
I don't think the venue size is what made me like him, per se, but I do think it was a huge part of why it all happened so quickly, because of that in-your-face sort of style it allows for. You know? You brace for impact and go in those kinds of spaces.
If he wins, though, the show is going to be out of this world. I think I'll probably rush this week if it wins one or both of the two big ones. I just want to experience what that's like.

Well, yeah - I mean his voice alone can make you like him. But I understand what you mean. There was an article in the Times today (after the huge little mermaid ad...) about the physical space of theaters and the effect it has on performances. Not exactly what you're referring to, but an interesting read nonetheless.
Yeah, I think I'm going to try and go Tuesday after work if I can. I have never been in the situation of loving a particular show and seeing it right after a Tony win before, so hopefully that will be the case next week..!!
Off topic, I have been listening to Taboo all day. I forgot what great music that show has
so tempted to see the show today..
