Thanks modeldiva!
I'm so glad that he's been 'on' these last couple of mornings. Hopefully that will bring a ton of people out to the show.
Only three more sleeps until the Tonys now... I'm so excited!
Ah, yes! I recognize it now in the full image. I think that my favorite painting of Ophelia is John Everett Millais' of her floating down the river.
Also, did I miss a dirty joke with the Picasso reference?

Wait, was that a dirty joke? I didn't intend it, but looking at UD's definition, it's somewhat-although-not-too fitting.
HAH. Clearly, I win. No, it just seemed random, so I assumed the worst (best). And....now I just look silly.

Well, it was random. I was just saying that I could see Raul having, say, a print of The Three Musicians in his living room over any of that Impressionist stuff in a pathetic attempt to connect my post to this thread.

Yeah, I realized that on rereading. I try to do that on the Adam thread sometimes, but probably not often enough.
Los Tres Músicos is my FAVORITE Picasso painting!!

I always forget how much I like Picasso until I'm confronted with it. Like when I saw the Barcelona and Modernity exhibit at the Met last month. (I can relate that to this thread because I had Barcelona stuck in my head the entire time.) Anyway, Picasso came in as my second favorite (behind Miro).
I enjoy the orange tie, I must admit. I think it worked better this time, too. It turns out my mom taped the Early Show and was so impressed with Raul she made me watch it with her a second time. And she went looking for my Company CD, which I seem to have misplaced since my iPod took over. Soon she's going to demand bootlegs.
My mom's going to be out-of-town during the awards, but I get the feeling that if she's not able to watch, she's gonna call me to find out what happened. I'm in utter shock that she cares; I think it's because Raul's come across very genuine on the TV interviews, whereas she generally finds him an egotistical jerk.
My mom's really jumped on the fan bandwagon this season. She never paid Raul much attention in the past, but since she saw Company and started listening to TTB, she's become very enthusiastic. I'm not really sure what to make of it.

The day my mom starts listening to any musical recording is when I question life as we know it

My mom did a lot of musicals in college. My parents bonded through them both being in theatre. Lots of movie musicals growing up. So, I'm not at all surprised when she seems enthusiastic about the recordings and sundry I expose her to. She does it with half the bands I like, and three quarters of the television I watch. I would be more withholding, just for some healthy space, but she gets...really offended and sad if I do.
I still remember my mother's lengthy explanation of vibrato to me all those years ago. So it was those words going through my head when I first heard Raul Esparza.

aw. My mom and I are known to have a sort of Lorelai/Rory (pre 6th season when the show started going downhill) relationship, but my love of musical theater is something I definitely do not share with her. But thankfully she's always been supportive of my love of it, save the occasional teasing
That's awesome that everyone's moms are so on board. :)
My mom saw the Jesus Christ Superstar and Hair movies nine times (each) when they first came out in theatre. She thinks my love for musicals now is "really cute", but that's about it.
I AM the Mom...
My parents took my brother and I to the theater a LOT as kids, so this is all their "fault" so to speak. Of course, my mom always thought it was good to expose her children to the arts; now that she has two grown kids who are both going into the arts, she feels as though she created a monster.

Well my dad is a musician, my mom is a huge supporter of the arts, and exposed me a little bit to musical theater, but not in excess. She loves music, and straight theater, but not so much musical theater. It still baffles her that somewhere along the line, the two areas blended for me. It's not as though its totally out of left field, as if I became an investment banker or something...
My parents aren't really into musical theatre, but they do see shows here and there - especially when I recommend them. My dad has become quite the little Company addict (he's already seen it 4 times) and he loves Spring Awakening; my mom is a huge RENT fan. They don't really care about the Tonys though.
Sexy if I ever saw it.
How young he looks! Was this around the time of tick,tick... BOOM?
Great picture!!
Wow, he looks thinner........
It's from Kristin Huffman's latest column, and was taken during rehearsals in Cincinnati.
My god, that's an awful sweater...

Got enough candy, guys?
Is that a bottle of wine in the back?
I can't tell if it's a sweater of a blanket. That's a problem.
