I didn't realize there was so much Raul hating in the world until last night. Sheesh!
Some people really are acting like he died. You know its only a matter of time before the tee shirts are printed.
And I thought DHP's speech was handled well - I didnt perceive any of the "na na na-na na" vibe that others did. And if you didn't see all of the nominees you can't really judge, you know?
Anyway, I'm very anxious and excited to see the show again tomorrow night!
Can someone who's going tomorrow cheer extra loud for me?? Man, I wish I lived closer to NYC...

I just have this unfounded fear (I think due to my reading too many of these pro-Raul/anti-DHP threads...) that people are going to rush him at the stagedoor and be like "YOU WAS ROBBEDDDD"
I really hope they don't.
Do you think he'll stagedoor on Tuesday? I wonder if he'll try to avoid any potential scenes like the one you described, misschung.

I was wondering the same thing. I am just anxious to see what the atmosphere is going to be - I mean they got best revival, so it's not like there's no cause to celebrate, you know?
I think it's hard because... what the hell do you say? I mean, whatever people do say, he'll take it well, but I certainly don't think I can come up with anything that's fitting. I wish I could.

Me too. As if I wasnt at a loss for words the first time I met him...
My instincts tell me that less is more in this type of situation.
I don't get why people are hating on David, it's not like he chose himself to win. He was just as shocked as the rest of us, and his speech was very generous. Blame the Tony comitee who didn't use their brains.
And...I'm going to see Company on Wednesday. I wanted to go tonight though.
At least Company won revival, so hopefully this will mena a longer lifeline for the show.
You're right - the show's win is certainly something to celebrate anyway. As for the stagedoor, I'd have absolutely no idea what to say. Indignant outrage on the part of fans hardly seem that consoling.
Your av is really pretty, Em.
I certainly hope there's more common sense and taste amongst the fans than to voice their outrage there, to him. I think that if you can find the right words, quietly telling him you're really sorry and you love his work is okay. But being irrational and obnoxious about it is not.
If fans approach him making declarations about the "horror of the robbery," that puts him in the strange position of almost having to comfort the fans. Which he shouldn't be the one to do. I think thanking him for his work would suffice - that kind of affirmation is probably the best thing for him.
Yeah, that'd put him in a position to be like "oh, well, it's okay!" -- which he would probably say anyway, but how awkward. It's sort of like... he'd have to show them he was okay for their own sakes.

I know seriously. It's like hello - I'm the one who lost here. You think you had a rough night?
Emcee, I'm hoping they know not to go there with the stagedoor thing too. Hopefully all the threads on this website will help get it out of their systems.
I mean in a way going to the show is, in itself, showing support, you know?
I think it's the best form of support a fan can give. I still haven't decided if I want to go there yet.
I think it would be nice to just show up at the stage door so he doesn't think we are all fair weather fans (did I really just write that?). It doesn't seem like he would think that anyway, but he may be feeling a little vulnerable. He worked so hard since the nomination and the show's win is attributable in large part to him, but it can't hurt to just be there for him.
I'm hoping I'll have a chance to go in the next few weeks, which will give the Tonys a little time to recede. You should go, keen - the show still needs an audience, regardless of whether or not Raul won. I'm sure he'd love an enthusiastic curtain call.
I have a ticket to the matinee of LoveMusik on Wednesday - it is going to take all my energy to walk that extra half a block past the Barrymore! But I have plans to see Company again soon - probably next week. If my family didn't already think I was crazy, I would go twice a week!

I know, seriously. If I lived closer to the city I would do the rush more than once a week for sure.
I dont know if you can tell anything from online ticket sales, but the best available seats were pretty far back - as much as they were the last time I ordered, and on that night the house was very full. Its so insane that they have those premium tickets for over 200 dollars even though you can get the same seats for rush...
Anyway, I agree about the curtain call. I was thinking the same thing about the stagedoor... I want him to know I'm still rooting for him even though he didnt win last night. Hopefully tomorrow's audience will be very enthusiastic overall.
Keen, you have to let me know how LoveMusik is. I chose 110 over that last week but am still interested in seeing it. Go to the evening performance of Company when it gets out, hehe
Telecharge can be really finicky; it's not the best way to tell what's left at all.
I was thinking of seeing Company again on Weds, but I decided to keep on track and catch up on shows I haven't seen yet. I do hope to see it again before it closes.

Yeah, I didnt think so. Oh well.
This might be a silly question, but do you think they will change the signs or anything since the show won best revival?
I'm sure they will. It's great for advertising purposes.

Saw his performance on the Tonys last night.
He has a powerful presence and an intense delivery. What a talent!

I gotta say I was upset to see Raul not win the tony, but I can't say anything negative against david Hyde Pierce, cuz I haven't seen the show. However, I did feel at the Tony's Raul gave an amazingly emotional performance. You can definitly tell he lost himself in Bobby up there.
