I'm surprised the producers didn't wait to see how the Tony win would play out, but perhaps they've already given up.
The producers probably figured that if people didn't hit up telecharge directly following the Tony telecast, they weren't going to (which is probably a fair assumption on their part.)
This does stink; I was really hoping that it would stay longer. But just what fishdancer23 said; this is only going to jump start his career even further. Raul's not going away anytime soon, he has the makings of becoming a true theater legend
(this is what I had to keep telling myself Sunday night through all my tears.)
I definitely have to get tickets for the show. I'll look into that tomorrow.
It's a shame, because it's such a fantastic show. I couldn't stop singing it all day today.
Raul was awesome tonight. He got lots of applause on his entrance, but Being Alive was incredible. The applause went on FOREVER, and then the entire audience stood up and gave him a standing ovation, which also lasted forever. It was really surreal. I was literally right beneath him in front of the diamond. He began to cry and really had to try to hold it together at the applause. I've never experienced anything like that, it was truly incredible, and I don't think I'll ever forget it. At the curtain call, he flashed the audience the sign language "I Love You" sign, which was random, but he seemed truly, truly moved.
Everyone was so nice at the stage door. Of course they were sad about the show closing, but they seemed upbeat and really genuinely happy about the reception the audience gave them tonight. Raul seemed in good spirits and was actually rather talkative, and very "touchy-feely", which was interesting. He's awesome. I'll post a picture later.
Glad the show was great tonight, Elphie! That's awesome that the audience was so responsive, it probably meant the world to Raúl and the entire cast. Thanks for keeping all of us living vicariously updated! :)
And my parents actually enjoyed it! WOW!
Tonight was perfect, every which way, even in the face of a lot of sadness. It will go down as one of my top moments in the theater, for sure. I will miss the show like hell, but it's been a wonderful experience. I really have just never been so in love in my life, and that is so, so, so rewarding.
That's wonderful! I'm glad everyone had a wonderful time; and that Raul's performance was awsome. Can't wait to see you're pic's Elphie
I think that we should have another BWW Company love fest on 7/1.
"And my parents actually enjoyed it! WOW!"
LOL! That's awesome! And surprisingly hard to come by...
So happy to hear tonight went soooo well!
just to reiterate - tonight's show was AMAZING. i'm going to get in every chance i have the next few weeks and will definitley be there super early to get student tickets on closing day!
i just can't wait to see what they're all up to next...
I just bought seats for July 1! Second to last row, but at least we have them. We *may* still try rush, but we'll see.

I just got home and cant believe the show is closing! Did they find out today?
I am literally speechless after tonight's performance. I don't even know where to start - Raul's face watching Barbara in Ladies Who Lunch and then Being Alive....it was probably the best live theater/performance that I have ever experienced.
I saw him at the stagedoor but really only thanked him for his perf - I didnt go into the Tony thing bc there were a lot of people there and it didnt seem the right time.
*edit* this looks interesting

Apparently, I'm a little stupid and don't know how to upload pictures onto my computer properly. I finally figured it out. It's a little fuzzy, but it's a good picture. He looks happy!

oh, I saw you guys!
thats a cute picture. I was surprised at how well put together and cheerful he looked after that emotional performance. I think he really appreciated all the audience and fan support tho.
well done, guys!
I like how I literally ran away from the camera.
He was like..."What?"
Better that than awkwardness.
Yes, so he will associate you with crazy as opposed to awkward. Fantastic.
But no awkwardness tonight! Goodness and touchy-feely-ness!
...That sounds dirty.
I was just talkative.

touchy-feely-ness? lucky you!
he did seem in good spirits tonight though, from what you can tell at a stagedoor. I'm sure he has to prepare himself before dealing with bunches of people, especially after a performance like that.
btw, WHO is that guy with the gray hair who brings him to his car?
I keep thinking back to that ovation and the way he just...began to cry. He was so cool at first, and then he lost it. Heaving chest and everything, trying to control it, and that tear dripping down his face. It was so...intense. I've never had that experience, of seeing someone onstage let go like that. You could see what a release it was. I can't imagine what it must have felt like to have that kind of support just encompassing him, both onstage and off. Just thinking about having that support makes me tear up, if that makes any sense. Simply incredible, and unforgettable.
ETA: That's "Albert". He cut his hair, but he used to look like ALbert Einstein. He's Raul's driver. He's scary.
