It was great! The audience was really, really good. Very enthusiastic and responsive, and it's a joy to see the cast perk up a bit with a great audience to respond to. It's sad, because this is the beginning of the end, but I had a wonderful time today.
Oh, okay Tink. I never really gave that part much thought. There wasn't anything really that stood out for me as being any different intentions than replacement actors in any other show. Similar enough that they're all based on the original, but still distinctly their own portrayal. Except they all stole Alan's ad-libs- even Raul. And don't feel bad; boots are the only way I've seen it as well. I've just seen quite a lot of them, so there's enough for comparison.
I am so f'ing excited. I can't even tell you all. And I'm SO excited for my friends who didn't see it the first time around to finally experience it.
maybe we can actually see this show together Em, instead of just stalking each other!
When, exactly, is it coming back? I really, really, REALLY want to see it!
i could be wrong, but I think it is 2008 after "Sunday".....ladies?
Yeah, I think I knew that much. Do we know what month yet?
Thanks.
Sunday is starting previews January 2008 with I think a 6-month run (they're all British with limited work visas) so Cabaret would probably not open until the fall. I'm so excited as well! I've been listening to Cabaret since I was probably 6 years old; it's about time I see it onstage!
They changed Raul's poster that Barrymore; now it has no mention whatsoever of the Tony nomination, but only his Drama Desk and OCC wins. It's peculiar, though, that they bothered to change this one now, especially since I didn't spot anything about the Best Revival Tony. You'd think they would want to publicize that.
It's strange that they would change the poster at all, with two weeks left in the run (regardless of what they add to it), isn't it?

I noticed that too, Emcee. You'd think they'd stick something on the marquee to boast their revival win, at least...
Anyway, I'm mad that Cabaret is still a year away. But in the meantime there are other things, so I can't complain :-P
Hmm I'm almost positive I saw something about the Best Revival.
I think it said Best Revival of a Musical and then said Drama Desk Award and Tony Award. I could be wrong though, I was having a rough day so I might have been seeing things.
I really hope there was something and I just missed it. It would be ridiculous not to have one, but i put nothing past this publicity team. I was hoping for one of those giant hanging banners on the marquee.
They have something about best revival towards the left side of the theatre if you are looking at it.
In the corner? Does a lotta good there.
Yeah...its hidden and its not really big or anything. It's very easy to miss if you aren't specifically looking for it.
Yup, super-helpful. They must really want to try and sell tickets in these last two weeks! I'm sorry, but the entire campaign has felt unfairly passive.
I hit Raul up for a picture yesterday... I'm waiting for my friend to send it to me. I hope it turned out well. It looked fine on the thumbnail on the camera, but it was tiny and I ALWAYS ruin pictures.
I'm sure the picture is very lovely Em!
Hee, thanks. If it's good, I'll PM it to everybody. I'm sure he looks great, but I am truly a compulsive photo-ruiner.
I'm sure it looks fine.
He looks funny in the one I took with him...he looks high.

I'm always surprised at how good he looks in pictures, especially given the fact that he just poured his heart out on stage.
I'm sure the picture is great, Emcee. I kind of want to take another at the closing, but I think it will be too much of a zoo.
Obsessed, I still owe you a Raul pic
Do you guys think the Company stagedoor will be as bad as Sweeney's on closing night? I'm debating on wether or not I want to stagedoor.
I am not planning on stage dooring closing night. I am not good with crowds - so anyone braver than I will have to give a full report.
I, too, was surprised/appalled that there was not a major banner for the best revival win. It is on the window panel to the left side of the doors. Ho-hum.

It depends on the level of insanity. This will be my first time going to a show's closing performance, so I'm not keeping my expectations high for the stagedoor. I think I will definitely wait and see them come out, but if its totally nuts I wont do any pictures or anything
The Sweeney stage door on closing night was definitely crazy, but at the same time, it was kind of amazing. I remember the "competition" between the Sweeney fans and the Chicago fans, because there would be cheers from down the street every time the door opened in anticipation of usher. So the Sweeney fans started doing the same for each cast member, especially Patti, and you could just hear the waves of cheering get louder and louder from each end of the block.
