Raul seems to have fan girls ranging from 12 to 80!
He actually graced you all with his presence after a matinee? Wow!
Kidding. I should be nice; he's been a doll the last few times I've seen him.
He actually was leaving the theater between shows.
Aha. So he couldn't avoid the mob if he didn't want to remain locked up.
Pretty much!
The crowd tonight was great as well!!
Stephen Sondheim was there too!!!
that must have been awesome.
no one important is EVER at the shows when I see them, lol!
How full was the house?
It was really full actually..even the rear mezz.
That's great news!
Huh.
On Sunday, the center section of the mezzanine was filled nearly straight back, but the sides were almost totally empty.
I'm frustrated because a friend and I are rushing tomrrow, but unless I can convince them to sell me the tickets early, I can't be at the theater until 6:00 at the earliest. But since everyone and their mother has decided that hey, they'd better finally see this show after ignoring it for months, I'm assuming by 6:00 it'll be too late.
aww, Em, I'm sorry, I'll send positive vibes that no one wants to Rush Company tomorrow until after you get tickets!
So I just finally saw the infamous "Defying Gravity" Raul cover, and it was awesome. loved it!
I know how selfish this is, but I can't help slightly hating that all of these people popping out of the woodwork now in a hurry when they couldn't be bothered to check it out earlier on are making it harder just when the fans want most to be there. I've never understood why so many people wait to see a show until it's about to close anyway, though.
I'm a terrible person.
You not a bad person, I'm sure any big fan would feel the same.
But on top of those people, you also now have the college age kids home and rushing all the shows in the summer time, that they couldn't get to during the school year.
I sometimes feel guilty thinking of using my student ID to rush, since technically I am no longer a student. I think that I am jipping a true student out of their experience. But then I come on here and hear all the absurd rush stories and don't feel so bad anymore, lol!
Right, it's that pile-up of college kids who are home for the summer and schools being out, as well as the summer tourists. I've been so lucky to have been here for it all, but I just feel like I'm on this rapidly-ticking clock, running out of chances to see it... and I don't have all afternoon to be able to sit on a rush line. :/
Oh and the guy at the box office today said that they didn't know yet whether or not they were going to have student rush for the last performance. It's up to the producers he said.

woah woah, obsessed. did stephen ****in sondheim go out the stagedoor after I left? If so, I'm going to throw something.
As it was, we waited over an hour for Raul because they were doing some talkback or whatever backstage. By the time he came out I had to leave, and I just made my train!
the house was totally full tonight, it seemed. there were a few little flubs during the performance that were entertaining, too!
and PS - arent the rush tickets supposed to be STUDENT rush? There were middle aged people in the front row today - not that I care, but how do they get tickets without a student id?
Apparently some of the rush seats are also available for comps - so us old folks are permitted in the front row and other typically rush locations occasionally.
Em - maybe I am an awful person, too, but I share your disappointment in people who are showing up at the end. Where were these people in February and March when the box office needed a kick?
Misschung, the woman sitting next to me took classes where she worked or something and had a student id.
but yeah Stephen was there
He actually was leaving the theater between shows.
Yeah, he had to go somewhere. Of course, I didn't find this out until AFTER he left, and then I felt bad for bothering him.
That's awesome that Sondheim was there.
I think it is great that he is so attentive to the people who wait, though. Even when he is running late!

I cant believe I missed the big S. sigh. My mom was like "well, you have the rest of your life." I was like 'well thats one way of putting it....'
Anyone seeing the show this weekend?
Well, and since you can buy two, you can give your second to anybody. People bring their parents all the time.
I feel like I'm running out of chances, and I'm screwed because I don't have giant blocks of free time to sit on a rush line.
If someone will be in the area and wants to get them for me, I'll give you... a hug and a cookie.
this is the time in life we will see Em at her most desperate! :)
