Eh, tickets cost a small fortune (considering I'm basically spending all my money on a car this week) but hopefully it'll work out!
When Company posted its notice I had really hoped that Raul would be in something when I got back to the states and I'm glad that he will be!
Totally psyched about the sexual deviant aspect, since my interest seems to gravitate towards those sorts of characters anyway.
the bad boy syndrome, we know. Gonna get you in trouble one day missy!

Hey obsessed! How is it going down in there in Kangaroo land?
I know, Tink! The thing is, though, that I'm too timid to deal with those people, so were I actually to encounter one I'd probably keep my distance.
You just admire for afar?? You are much better off, hehe! Until you are 40 and decide to dump the accountant and run off with the out of work musician with the cute butt! :)
Heh. I know a lot of us were hoping for Dangerous Liasons, but this seems like the next best thing.
Oh, I think this will be BETTER than Dangerous Liaisons!
John Lahr wrote something called "A Casebook on 'The Homecoming'". I'm going to look at my complete New Yorker and see if it was originally published there.
I'm reading that Pinter himself originally played Lenny.
Good to know; I'll look for it. I love his writing.

fishdancer, isn't that a full length book of criticism you're talking about? Or was part of it originally published in the New Yorker
on a totally unrelated note - did anyone see the Colbert Report yesterday about the movies that are destroying America? I found the one about Bratz really funny, lol
It's a full length book, but lots of full length things were originally published in pieces in The New Yorker, like David Sedaris' books and Capote's In Cold Blood.
I haven't done my search yet because I have to reload my complete New Yorker index on my Mac...Will let y'all know what I find out...
Heh, Colbert was priceless last night.
He was! I caught that show, too.
Raul and the play got a mention in yesterday's Times - it was really small, but at least he's already getting some attention.

I didn't get the paper yesterday, what did it say Ariella?
I had such a random Raul dream last night
I just finished the play. Very different...it'll be interesting to see what Raul does with Lenny.
I'm excited to find out who else will be in it.
I'm going to track down the play the next time I'm in a bookstore. So, like, soon
The paper was merely outlining what's known about the production thus far: "Raúl Esparza will perform opposite Ian McShane in the Broadway revival of Harold Pinter's "Homecoming," opening in December at the Cort. Michael McKean has also joined the production, which will be directed by Ian Sullivan." All of 2 sentences, but still.
It's up on ibdb now, as well. It's listed as uncomfirmed as of yet, and there are only those same bits of information, but it's there.

I saw it today, Ariella. Still exciting
Interesting bit of information in "The Envelope", with some more stuff about the Cort:
"....Two days later, Esparza begins preview performances of the Pinter play with opening night set for Dec. 4. This wry comedy about a dysfunctional family won four Tonys in 1967, including best play and acting honors for Paul Rogers and Ian Holm. Their roles of father and son are to be played by Ian McShane and Esparza. McShane, the Emmy nominated star of "Deadwood," is returning to Broadway forty years after making his debut in "The Promise" alongside another newcomer, Ian McKellen.
Pinter has proven to be an acquired taste for both Tony voters and theatergoers. Of his 7 original works to appear on Broadway, only 3 got nods for best play with only "The Homecoming" winning. And of the 5 revivals of his works, only "Betrayal" in 2000 got a Tony nomination. If the odds of success weren't bad enough already, the venue for this latest revival, the Cort Theater, has not housed a hit since Nicole Kidman starred in "The Blue Room" back in 1998."

I started reading this a few nights ago - they weren't kidding about the Pinter non-sequiturs and the tone of suppressed violence. I can't wait to see Raul's approach to Lenny
I finally ordered my copy of "The Normal Heart", so once I finish that I'll have to go get this one. Seems very intriguing. And a good escape from Shakespeare. I bought a monster book that has all of his works in it, and I have been trying to master them all. But too much Shakespeare after a while can drive a person nuts, lol!

you could drive a person crazy...
I have the Riverside Shakespeare - is that the one you have, tink? It's HUGE.
I love The Normal Heart.
i dunno know if that is the one. I got it in the B&N discount section (best place ever!).
My copy of TNH is falling apart and I'm proud of it. I'd tell you to enjoy it, but... heh.
