I've found the audiences lately to be small, but mighty. From the sounds of their applause, you'd never know the show was only selling in the 40's, but looking around that theater is heartbreaking, especially to see just handfuls of people in the mezzanine. The last time I saw the show was just a day after keen last went, and it felt a little bit off to me; nothing I picked up was anything someone who hadn't seen the show many times would notice, but it was still a little bit disconcerting to see, you know? Things just felt weird; the cast has been so ON every other time, though, that I'd be willing to bet it was just a fluke or an off-night. I'm hoping that Tony nominations and then subsequent awards will help it hang in there. It deserves so much better than these low grosses.

Yeah, I don't know whats going on with these low grosses
misschung, how full was the audience the last time you saw it?
The first time I saw it during previews, the entire rear mezz was empty. But when I saw it in March, it was actually pretty full. It fluctuated a lot for the first few months. I'm not too surprised about the grosses; it's a Sondheim show. Company's last revival only ran for about 6 months.

I havent see it live, I have only seen a video of it from November of last year. From what I could see, it seemed pretty full, but its hard to tell.
Thats true about the last revival, and I guess its just that kind of show. I'm glad that so many people who saw it really loved it, tho. I'm going to try and order a ticket for next week.
The last revival had a great cast, but a lot of problems, from what I understand.
This one has been incredibly polarizing, which is fascinating to watch. I wish more people loved it, but a lot of people have really fallen hard for it.
The last time I saw the show (April 21) the mezz had maybe 8-10 people in it but the orchestra was close to being full. However, the audience was a great audience and was very responsive to everything. Lots of laughs and applauses and everyone seemed to be enjoying the show. When I went back in January the show was much more full than it was in April, but the audience was a complete dud.
To change direction a little - I was delighted to see how much screen time Raul had in the ShowBusiness film. But a question - was he heavier or more muscular in TABOO than he is now? He currently seems more slender than he appeared in the movie (or is it the old "camera makes you look 10 pounds heavier"?).
He was kinda chubby. Adorable, but chubby. (Although he looks like he's been gaining some weight again, heh. Ahem.)
If he's looking for an exercise program, I would be willing to chase him around the block a couple of times a week.

oh now you HAVE to post them
There are some caps of the infamous crotch-grab. Someone else can do the honors.
I would, but I don't think I have them.
