You all are killin' me hehe.
Anyway, how was everyone's day?

My day was lovely, thank you. While driving home from my voice lesson, I decided to take a different exit off the highway, and saw a huuge truck with pictures of pies on it. And what's better is the words on the truck: "Mr. Tod's Pie Shop"!!! I almost crashed and died, or just died.
I really need to see Sweeney again...Gah I hate this whole rule about not being able to go to the city without my cousins till I'm 16...have your parents seen it yet?
Haha, Gypsy, that's awesome.

Me too! On the 3rd.
Chica, I'd love to contribute, but my brain is completely fried right now. Ask again after exams are over on Friday. :)
I'm the 12th!
Broadwaychica - This production of the show pulls it away from being literal. It's about passion, (blinding) lust, revenge. Those are all things that a teenager begins to experience seriously. Everytime I hear or see Sweeney (this production), it feels like I am identifying with someone else. There are moments on the cast recording and in the show that are so raw and painful that they force you to give up tension (ex. in the judge's return the "I love you" part) Honestly it's relaxing for me to go through all of the emotion I feel when I'm there.

Weepy weepy weepy weepy. *laugh*
Also, as an "aspiring actress" I go because of what you said, the detail. I never stop learning from the preformers. People like Mano, who act in such detail that you learn something new about their preformance every time you see it, are invaluble to watch, as well as a joy.
I love Sweeney Todd just because it's so refreshing to see a show so different from everything else that's on Broadway. It's also so evident how much the actors care about the show, and it reflects in their performances. They're all so talented onstage, and the fact that the cast is so charismatic and chatty is such a plus. I love being able to go to a show that actually makes me think. It is enjoyable just on the level that the music, plot, etc, are wonderful, and on the level that every time you go you discover something new. This is a show that I could watch easily over and over and continually like it...and I plan to! .

This discussion has really made me think that we should schedule a BWW Mano thread Sweeney student rush trip. We all seem to feel the same way, and have intelligent discussion about the show. I think it would be fun.
That'd be soooo much fun! If I could, you know, convince my parents to let me go lol.
If it helps, I'm younger than you, so it's not like everyone would be older than you.
Yeah, it's just that they don't want me to go to the city with people that they don't know...It's not that they're crazy and convinced that you all are 50 years old, it's just the matter of like, being able to trust the people...I dunno...it's all so odd.

Yeah, definitley see what you're saying. I guess it would be easier for me cause I'm in NYC anyway.

I agree with what was said already. Also, I enjoy thinking about and analyzing shows after I see them. No matter what, I'm going to talk about them for days, so it's nice when there actually is something of substance to think about and discuss.
The way the details of Sweeney Todd all fit together with such precision amazes me. Everything that happens on stage has a purpose, and it's interesting to slowly figure out what exactly the purpose is. I'm fascinated by the score's intricate orchestrations and each character's complex emotions.
It's unique and thought-provoking, but still entertaining. Seeing it from the second row last fall was probably the most thrilling theatre experiance I have had so far in my life.
