"Johnny Depp gets sucked into his bed, and so much blood comes out of it, it might as have well been the Kool-Aid man that Freddy killed."
That is the best thing I've read in a while. LOL. I'll never think of that scene the same way again?
And JerseyGirl, what do you mean that's not supposed to be his blood?
#51re: The Official Trailer for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
Posted: 9/29/09 at 3:20amWell, it is his blood, I guess, but it's not supposed to be a realistic amount. It was a nightmare. It's just gallons and gallons that pools on the ceiling. lol

No, I don't think it was a nightmare, because his mom is there to see it. It's supposed to be his blood.

Blaxx is right
The mother is there watching this happen, of course all she sees is blood coming out of the bed, she has no idea what happened before, and if she was there when he was dragged in it prob would have looked very different to her.
Pgenre
Yeeeeeah i also love FOUR FLIES ON GREY VELVET, im not sure whey as its not his best work and the story is a bit weak but i love it (anything with a rocker and a pretty theatre lol)
I also like Suspiria and quite like Inferno.
I enjoyed Trauma but i think it missteps quite a lot and i have to say (gets ready to be shot) i can't stand Asia Argento.
The Phantom of the Opera has to be one of the most painful films ive sat through, i just hated it grrr

Never watched the original though. I have seen and heard about specifics scenes from the original movie and they are when the girl gets dragged around her bedroom and Freddy basically shreds her to pieces and when Johnny Depp gets sucked into his bed, and so much blood comes out of it, it might as have well been the Kool-Aid man that Freddy killed.
Watch the original, which is still chilling, but watch it with the perspective of the time when it was originally released. The subsequent sequels were all just sub-par variations on the same theme, but it was clear when the original was released that it was destined to be a classic.

^^I agree.
In fact, I was suggest watching them in this order (best to worst)
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Dream Warriors
Wes Craven's New Nightmare
The Dream Master
The Dream Child
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
A Nightmare on Elm Street Pt 2 - Freddy's Revenge (One of the worst horror movies. BLAH!)

Posted: 9/29/09 at 11:52amThats pretty much the same order i would put them in except i would put New Nightmare 2nd and just forget Freddy's Homo erotic porn...i mean Freddy's Revenge ever happened lol

I had such a crush on Mark Patton in part two, I could always overlook what an awful mess it was.

JESSE: "There's something inside of me."
JESSE: "Hey, Grady, do you remember your dreams?"
GRADY: "Only the wet ones."
JESSE: "Something is trying to get inside of me"
JESSE: "Fred Krueger!... He's inside me... and he wants to take me again!"

The original is so great, except for the ending which, like most horror movies, is just there to open the door for a sequel.
I also LOVE the Dream Warriors (part 3). I think it's clever, has some good scares and actually makes sense.
When I watch the original, I always marvel at how awful Ronee Blakeley is. I love her in Nashville, but she just stunk in Nightmare...

She was even worse in Salems Lot 2 lol
Wes never wanted that ending on the film, it was a huge battle with Bob Shaye who wanted it left open for sequel
#64re: The Official Trailer for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
Posted: 9/29/09 at 12:53pmSame thing happened with "Dream Warriors." In fact, the original script that Wes wrote was virtually "New Nightmare" but it was rejected by the studio. So, he, and some other guy, wrote "Dream Warriors" and had Nancy live and there be a happy ending with Freddy being killed off. Bob Shaye would not have it. It really should have ended there and then have "New Nightmare" happen a few years later.

Posted: 9/29/09 at 12:57pmI just realized that I forgot to include "Freddy Vs. Jason" in that list. It would go after "The Dream Master" and before "The Dream Child." While "The Dream Master" was pretty stupid, it had some neat little moments.

Posted: 9/29/09 at 12:58pmI agree, from a finacial point of view you could see where Shaye was coming from, thats why they call New Line the house that Freddy built. Number 4 turned out to be the most succesful (box office wise), number 5 however was a flop and 6 didnt do much better.

Posted: 9/29/09 at 1:00pmRonee Blakeley was nominated for an oscar for Nashville...it's a great performance.

Posted: 9/29/09 at 1:02pmIt's because #3 became very popular once it hit VHS and people went in #4 expecting it to be great as well. I just hated that they took it out of the context of Freddy killing the kids of the parents that murdered him. Once he was killing anyone, there was no purpose. I understand that there could only be so many parents but blah! And I also don't understand why he waited until they were in their late teens to start offing them. I mean, wasn't he a child murderer from the beginning? Don't you think it would make more sense him killing them as kids? I am just being nitpicky since I know no film would have been made with him killing kids.

Actually, spidey, that's why I only watch #1 and #3 because they are faithful to the original story, and they have the best art direction.
I feel the same way about all horror, which is usually ripped off and ruined by someone who doesnt care about the origins of the story. Dracula/Vampire movies are the worst. Most dont follow the rules of vampirism.
btw, when I complained about the ending of the first film, I meant that it didnt make sense...I actually love the car!

I believe the mom being pulled through the door was Bob Shaye's idea, if I remember correctly.
And speaking of the "horney teenager" thing, I just realized that only one out of all of the NIGHTMARE movies actually has a sex scene and that is "The Dream Child" which is kinda crucial so the kid could be impregnated. All Freddy cared about was getting revenge...until #2 and # 4 that is.
#74re: The Official Trailer for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
Posted: 9/29/09 at 2:22pmNevermind. The first movie had a *very* brief sex scene. But still, that is the only 2 I can think of in the 7 movie series
