hee. Well, the attention is obviously deserved, and while fans like the rabid IdinaHeads are supportive and support is wonderful, I don't wish those levels of insanity on anyone.

Oh gee, I really hope that he doesn't have an Idina-esque fan following, no matter how well deserved. Becides, I like when they don't have TONS of fans, makes the fans that they have more special. Y'know?

I don't really know how to verbalize my rationale for this, but I don't think he's the type to attract a fanbase that wide and that rabid, or... well, like that in demeanor, at all. Maybe it has to do with the kind of show he's in. I dunno.

MANOEL FELCIANO AT JOE'S PUB

Manoel Felciano, currently playing Tobias in the acclaimed Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd, will bring his multi-instrumentalist talents and pop stylings to Joe's Pub for an evening of originals and uniquely reinvented covers, with Musical Direction by Peter Foley, and surprise guest appearances. Previously Mano performed with the bands Monobrow, Moneyshot and Generica at venues such as Arlene Grocery, Mercury Lounge, and CB's Gallery. He last appeared at Joe's Pub as part of 21.G with musical direction by Jason Robert Brown. In addition, he has been featured in the Broadway shows Brooklyn, Jesus Christ Superstar and Cabaret, as well as the New York Shakespeare Festival/Public Theater's production of Much Ado About Nothing.

Mano appears on the cast recording of the current Sweeney Todd Revival, and his interpretation of "Not While I'm Around" was featured on WNYC's The Sunday Show with Jonathan Schwartz and PRI's Studio 360 with Kurt Andersen, and was referred to as "achingly sweet, stirring in its crystalline emotional purity" by Variety's David Rooney. Rolling Stone's Peter Travers raved that Mano is "possessed of an angel's voice", and Roma Torre of NY1 called him "a major find" while Newsweek's Marc Peyser writes: "The show's most emotionally nuanced performance actually comes from Tobias... Felciano is sweet, funny, sad and a wonderful singer. He'd be a standout in any Sondheim production..." New York Magazine hailed his "brilliant, tenderly sung turn as Tobias" and voted him "Best New Triple Threat" of 2005.
