Any word on release date for this?
Nothing new - the last I read/heard was Jan/Feb-ish.
I hate horror movies. I see no entertainment value whatsoever in being scared. Apparently I missed that gene. I'm beginning to think I'll just wait for the DVD to come out....
Another great review from "Time Out". I love this one:
"But to be truly excellent, the play should be stocked with actors like Esparza, whose musician’s ear lets him riff on the words like jazz. He noodles around the rhythms, working miracles with odd bursts in pitch. Like Mamet, we like to settle back, watch a craftsman work and let notions of great art go f**k themselves."
(edited because I keep forgetting the rules on this site and this is Mamet, after all. )

I wish I could see Speed the Plow.
But at least I have this ridiculousness to look forward to.
Hmmm. That's going to make for some awkward/interesting camera shots, if the character is left-handed (as seems to be indicated by the way he's holding the knife), seeing as Raúl is right-handed.
Either that or the picture got flopped.

As in "Find Me Guilty." I only watch the first five minutes and the last ten!
Or he could just, you know, happen to have it in his left hand for this particular moment.
Picky, picky....

A new twist - ambidextrous serial killer - one with the right hand, one with the left?

Back to Raul as audiobook reader:
I am about 2/3 of the way through THE HOUSE OF THE SCORPION, and I am really enjoying the voices that Raul is bringing to this story. He does it seamlessly, and it helps to visualize who is talking. Every once in a while you can also hear the smile in his voice - very pleasant!
it is increasingly clear that Raul's bilingual talents are coming in handy for this story since *SPOILERS*
the main character Matt is running to Mexico.
A heartfelt "thank you!!" to whoever it is that attended the NYMF gala last night, and has posted this clip of Raúl singing "Why" on the site we dare not mention:
"Why" from "tick...tick...BOOM!"
Wow. Thank you SO much to whoever recorded and posted that.
Raul said a while back that he felt like he was too old for that song now, but he does a beautiful job. "I sing 'Come to your senses, defenses are not the way to go...' over and over and over 'til I get it right" is, for me, one of the most moving lyrics in any musical (largely due to Larson's life history, but even in the context of the show it's very fitting).

I, too, love this song, and I am glad someone captured it for us. It makes sense that he is singing something from ttB since it is his part of the NYMF canon.
Small complaint. Maybe it's the recording, but it sounds very lisp-y, and that's kind of distracting.
Yeah, I noticed that too, about the sound. I think it's the camera the person was using. There are places where he sounds like he's trying to sing around a swollen tongue, or like he's got a mouthful of Novocaine, but in other places he's crystal clear. So I don't think it was him.

Honestly, my first reaction: Raul's got Invisalign!

I love the "STP" logo on the dressing room table - and also the wonderful photo from the NEW YORKER.
Skittles, I hope you look half as good as she does when you are 79 years old.
Aww, good to hear him sing something from ttB! again.

Huh? NYMF didn't even exist while Jonathan was alive, or when ttB! was produced in New York. Raúl sang something from it at the gala because this year's gala honored Robyn Goodman, who was one of the lead producers on the off-Broadway production.
