I've been glued to the election coverage for hours even though I know there's no point. Company seems like a good alternative.

Company is always a good alternative - to *almost* anything.

My mom and I started embarrassingly harmonizing on Company at my aunt's house a few days ago. It was pretty loud and obnoxious. I've been wanting to watch it ever since then.
I'm debating between going out to watch election coverage, or going back to sleep. (I'm sick, don't judge.) It's times like these that I wish I hadn't banned TV from my bedroom.

Thanks. :) Fortunately I meant go out to the living room, but that's feeling like too much of a trek right now. (I'm not actually sick, technically, I just have a badly twisted ankle and sore limbs from an inconvenient tumble.) I think I'm gonna lay down with a book, pass out, and wake up to watch stuff around 10-ish.
Every time is Jesse L. Martin time. That is my decree.
Skittles, I hope you look half as good as she does when you are 79 years old.
Don't worry, dear, my family ages fabulously, even without the plastic surgery.
I'm attempting to figure out picture-in-picture on my new TV so I can watch news and Jon and Stephen simultaneously.
Oooh that's a good idea.

I saw a Speed the Plow TV spot twice tonight, during the CNN election coverage. Raul's haircut is amazing. That ad must have been expensive to run during this show..
This is niiiiice.
"Esparza....giving the best performance of his career to date....cements his status as one of Broadway’s finest actors with his performance here."
Mamer revival rings relevant
I'm sorry, but I can't take anything that calls this his best performance seriously. It's great, and it's showing off a side of him that I think a lot of people didn't know was there, but... no.
Raúl seems quite tickled by Billy Crystal's backstage visit:

I didn't even recognize Billy Crystal -
But I do love that grey shirt on Raul - part of the third scene costume, I think. Maybe he gets to keep it at the end of the run.
I thought it looked purple on stage.
The tie is positively epic. Absolutely mesmerizing....
It's like they made it out of curtains. From my grandma's previous apartment.

Emcee - that means all our grandmothers had the same curtains! lol
Y'know, I have to say I really have a hard time seeing Charlie Fox wearing that tie. It's just not....him. And even in the 80's, that was NOT fashionable. I don't think it ever was (outside grandma's curtains). It might not be so bad if the colors weren't so....hideous. Yeah, that's the word - hideous.
Yes, but think about it in the frame of what Raul was saying about Charlie as someone who tries way too hard to live beyond his means, and all of that.
OK, yeah - Charlie is living beyond his means, trying to be fashionable.
It's just -- there's just no way that tie was ever fashionable. Not even Orbachs would have carried that tie (in joke for those who lived in LA in the 80's ).
Trying too hard often backfires! I don't know, I'd like just think if they chose something that wasn't at ALL fashionable, they did it with a reason. But I also think John Doyleism taught me to want there to be reasons for everything.

I guess I picture Charlie wearing a Brooks Brothers striped tie - trying for the old "school tie" look. But maybe that's expensive but too tasteful.

I honestly love the tie. And I was giving Raul props when I saw those pictures, not realizing it was part of his costume. Oh well.
It's the kind of costume piece he might conceivably appropriate for future use.

Awfully quiet on this thread... Anyone been to see SPEED-THE-PLOW lately? Em, did you take your mom, and did she get to meet the Raul? I hate the threat that PUSHING DAISIES may be cancelled. I really wanted another episode or two with Fredo.
