Have you guys seen this?

Amazing.

It's not really a commercial per se, but an animated short that sets up a mobile game spin-off.

It's haunting and beautiful.

And Fiona Apple sings Pure Imagination.

Really worth watching

Saw this a few days ago and was quite impressed. Smart move on Chipotle's part! Has everyone talking.

Even though I've stopped going to Chipotle since they've gotten so amazingly stingy with their portions that its not worth the money anymore, that was a beautiful video.

You find the portions stingy? Although they're not as large as they once were, it's still a LOT of food for me.

I really do. They're one step away from picking individual pieces of rice off the spoon and measuring it ala Pinkberry. And when Rey stand there shaking indicidual pieces of chicken from the one small scoop they give you in order to give you even less, that's when I get a little pissy with them. And when I ask for a scoop of corn and they put MAYBE a quarter of a scoop on that spoon, I start to get real pissy.

If I'm paying $9 for a burrito bowl, give me $9 worth, por favor.

I'm with Jordan. Its always hard when a chain cuts portions but they have done it so dramatically it's sort if startling. Especially when they still charge premium prices for really really cheap ingredients. I was a little dumbfounded when the BF & I got s Chips & Guac ($4+) for 2 ounces guac and 18 chips (literally).

We had two burritos, a soda and those chips & guac and it was just shy of $25.

It's a great video... the game is also climbing the ranks of downloaded apps in the iTunes store.

I have to somewhat agree with Jordan.
I remember 8 years ago when you'd get 4 tacos in an order, then they reduced it to three. I appreciate that my tacos and soda come out to EXACTLY $11 now though, so I don't have to fiddle with coins if I pay cash..
Yes, the portions have certainly gotten smaller.. I remember when your taco would naturally be filled to overflowing (That sounds Freudian..), but not any longer unless you press the issue.
I like the crispy tacos and once was given an order where I didn't bite into any meat until the second bite.. and I don't get EVERYTHING on my taco, just a few things, so please, at least fill the shell. I love the cheese there and like a lot. If I ask for "a lot of cheese", give me a lot. Don't give it a light sprinkle and look at me crazily if I ask for more. I HAVE gotten to the point to where I will stand there and say "more, please.. more.. and a little more" every time they add an ingredient if they are being stingy..

*sigh* I miss Qdoba..

OMG, me too. I stand there and just say "More. More. More. More..." until it equals a full fvcking scoop of what I'm paying for.

I'm going to guess they came under pressure to reduce portion sizes when they tried to market themselves as a "healthier" alternative, despite once burrito containing something like 1100 calories.

Which one do you normally go to? Unless it's been in the past month I haven't noticed the portion sizes that drastically reduced at the one on 7th around the corner from Chelsea Studios. I can still have that for lunch and not need to eat again until the next day (and I'm not a light eater by any stretch of the imagination).

Usually I go to the one on 44th/9th. But it's the same everywhere. When I was in Florida visiting family last month we went to eat there and it was exactly the same.

I agree. It's all the same now...
I usually end up at the one at 44th/9th or the one at 51st/8th. I've started going to the one at 5th/8th since they have far more seating and a much more wide open floor plan.
There used to be a girl at the 44th/9th location who knew my order and would always pile it on and do it with a smile..

Agree re: the pinching of portion sizes. I feel bad for the employees since it seems clear they are taking directives from the higher-ups (I can see them calculating in their head when they scoop up the meat) and trying to spread out the meat for 2 tacos onto 3 tortillas.

Blame corporate if you think the portions are stingy, not the individual employees who are only following the (very strict) orders they're given.

I don't think any of us are blaming the employees. We know it's corporate.. and I never treat the employee badly for it. Heck, I ask with a smile and a please and thank you.
One of my biggest peeves is someone being rude to an employee for something that is not their fault.

OH... let's not talk about the time I went in for lunch on a Saturday to the 51st/8th location and they were out of taco shells...

They should AT LEAST get them smaller scoops because when they shake off "excess" meat to make the scoop half full, it really just pisses customers off.

The worst is when you order something they use tongs to place into the shell and then start to take meat OUT of your taco to put it back.

Brilliant advertising.

Such a though-provoking video with great animation and Fiona Apple's rendition of that sound is haunting.

It all works together beautifully.

But I agree .. bigger scoops of stuff for the price please.

Yes.. They have done that to me at numerous locations, so it is company policy and I can not really blame the employee, but it makes you feel like a very unwelcome customer and makes it very apparent the company wants to give even you the absolute minimum they can be allowed to.
I appreciate their policies on healthier options, but seriously..

I have only had their burrito twice, one time finishing the whole thing knowing I had no time for dinner. It felt like I swallowed a brick but it's a friggin' burrito. I expected that to happen.

I kinda wish it would be adjusted the other way.

Honestly ... I think we all need to downsize our super-sized lives. All you have to do is look at plates, martini glasses, teacups, coffee cups from 40 or 50 years ago to realize we have gotten WAY out of proportion in more ways than one.

Chipotle's portions have been adjusted, and I wish others would follow suit. I feel like that chicken getting plumped up by the syringe.

But Chipotle's prices should follow, too.

And I think that's the main issue here. If I was paying $5 for what I got, I'd think that it's very reasonable. But for what they charge, it's really not worth it for me to go there anymore. My roommate (a chef) found the recipes for all of Chipotle's ingredients online and we made our own a few weeks ago. And for around $20 in groceries, we had enough food to make a burrito bowl for each of us every day for a week.
