I'm doing a Shakespeare Intensive at this fantastic theatre in Pittsburgh. They're dark during the summer and so they do acting camps for 11-17 year-olds, and this year we're doing Macbeth. The director (a female) played Macbeth this summer in this incredible 3 person, gender-reversing interpretation of it so she was all game to cast a girl as Mac. So here I am. Its like a boot-camp in acting, especially acting heightened text. Its unbelievable.

Oh jeeze. That was a real fun assignment. haha.

That sounds pretty bomb, ashmelie. If I had a private plane at my disposal I would most definitely go see.
No one wants to see a musical called Thoroughly Modern Mildred.

Actually my freshman year of college we did something amazing. In acting we got a Helena and Demetrius scene, and my teacher didn't look at gender, so some girls were Demetrius and guys were Helena. Then we had to perform the scene like 5 year olds or dancing the entire scene in interpretive dance. hahahaha

So for my final, I was Helena but my scene partner and I had to run around performing it like 5 year olds in the Boston commons.

I did a scene from As You Like It in my Period Styles class sophomore year and the professor encouraged gender experimenting. I was Rosalind and Celia was my male partner. We played her as the gay best friend. I actually ended up playing Celia a year later in the full show.

I loved LVA. I got so much experience there, had wonderful mentors, but never in my life have I met such a talented group of people than those at my school. And I've never worked with such incredible, talented teachers (who all still work in the business). It's inspiring. My friends in college are my soul. I love everything about it.

College is a trip. And is over before you know it...sigh. I'm excited to get out there though. I only have one year of being a student left. Although i'd say live off campus if you can when you do get there. If its the same everywhere else as it is here. if you live off campus you don't have to pay the hefty fees, that and off campus housing is usually cheaper in the long run than on campus. My tuition costs about 3-4,000 a year but if i was on campus it'd be around 12,000+

Stupid Boston Conservatory. Stupid private colleges. Sucking up every last penny. I'm so so so so so lucky to have college paid off by my parents. Best gift they could ever give me!


So New York City is a monsoon today. You know what that means? I'm taking a cab home. I am currently sitting at my desk, eating M&Ms, drinking a Diet DP and listening to the beautiful sounds of contracts being negotiated. Oh Constantine Maroulis.

God. The only good thing about Vegas are my school and my voice teacher. Oh and the summer theatre is fun, but I couldn't audition for any of the shows because my rehearsals for the shows I was doing in April and May conflicted with the auditions. My summer has, therefore consisted of searching for material for next year and Broadwayworld.com.
No one wants to see a musical called Thoroughly Modern Mildred.

I don't miss Las Vegas one bit. I miss LVA and the teachers and my friends, but none of them really live in Vegas anymore either.

Tonight I am seeing Burn the Floor! WOO.

Everyone buy the Rock of Ages cast recording right this very second!!!!

I agree. Student threads are dead!!! haha. Someone should get up and running again. Well Im Dimon Riley, im a sophomore at Las Vegas Academy. All summer i ve been singing,dancing,gym,chilling, getting monlogues, and trying to find songs for my musical theatre class this year.

Ah the good old days at LVA when Mr. Connor didn't teach musical theatre, but an actual musical theatre teacher did! And ah the day when we had 4 brilliant theatre teachers who all got along. Oh and when there wasn't a Saturday dance class 3 months in advance to learn the next audition dance. (Yes we had to learn it at the audition!) Haha

Sad. I miss it. Sometimes. Mr. Born needs to come back and save all of you.

Btdubs. I saw Burn the Floor last night. HOT. HOT. HOT. Oh man. So hot. And so many hot men without shirts.

You guys are doing West Side?? So it'll be like Once on this Island all over again...with the dance major ensemble and the theatre major ensemeble.

Knowing Connor he'll make the Puerto Ricans all African Americans instead.

That's how the big musicals have been the past 2 years. There is a steady decline in the the theatre department. I'm excited for Mr. Connor to say things like, "You were a tri-tone off pitch." during musical theatre WHAT!?!?
