Yeah the Miss Saigon ensemble was probably about 50 people. We sat around at 8 hour rehearsals and weren't used, plus we weren't allowed to leave. It was terrible.

You would think that with 50 people, he wouldn't notice someone sneaking to 7/11 for the 3 minutes it takes to go.

Ok lovelies, I'm headed to NYC for the first time in October, and I need suggestions! I already know which shows I'm seeing: Patti LuPone in concert (I'm visiting Purchase college while she's there! A wonderful coincidence!), N2N, Hair, The 39 Steps, and Superior Donuts. So no trying to persuade me- I've thought long and hard about this
Anyways...any suggestions on cool stuff to do? Touristy things, non-touristy, restaurants, events, things I just HAVE to see? Also, any fun theatre stuff is appreciated. For instance, I want to see Seth Rudetsky's free radio show on Wednesday, and I'm thinking of going to Behind the Emerald Curtain. Anyone know if it's worth it? Thanks!

Go to the Bethesda Fountain at 72nd and Central Park West. It's beautiful in summer or winter (Angels in America).
Make sure you go to Soho for good shopping, canal street for your fake Louis, (hahahah) and see if there's any Broadway in the Park at Bryant Park going on.

You have to go to Roxy and get some chesecake. You'll probably pay $10 for a slice but it's well worth it. There's also this toy store by central park that has a huge floor piano you can play with your feet. Also check out the toys r us in times square. You can usually get some knockoff purses in battery park for a good price if you haggle with them.

I doubt it. I used to think I could too, until I took viewpoints this past year and now I HATE people because they can't walk. hahahah

Ahh viewpoints. One of the greatest things i've ever learned. Did you do Suzuki too? I think my legs were in their greatest shape ever because of those walks and stomping.

My favorite part of the class was when we developed pieces through viewpoints and performed them on various places on campus. My group performed on the student center patio. I'm surprised we didn't get in trouble because we grabbed those huge patio umbrellas and started dragging them and throwing them and closing them on ourselves. I don't know if its on youtube but on my facebook our final project in viewpoints and suzuki is posted. That wasn't performed in public though.

We had a crazy viewpoints final. Our piece had to be 9 minutes, and we had to incorporate crazy things. It was amazing.
Like
-referencing a famous painting
-Percussion
-Natural sounds
-Repeating a phrase 15 times
-Repeating a movement 15 times as a group
-The grid (of course!)
-Something sung
-A staged incident
-An unexpected event
And then there were 4 lines of text we had to use.
Stuff like that, except there were 2 pages of things we had to incorporate. hahaha

-A dance with an umbrella in the garden of eden
-a dance that stops your heart
-6 minutes and 45 seconds long
-certain lines of dialogue
-20 seconds of silence and stillness
There's more that i can't remember...i hardly even remember performing it. I just have the video to look at.

I still don't get what viewpoints and suzuki are.
Anyway, I'm just wondering how many of you are excited for Glee this fall on fox. I sure am. As soon as I'm old enough, I am going to audition for that show. The only things about that show that aren't perfect are that they only sing when performing and it's mostly popular music. I can't wait for Kristin Chenoweth's guest appearance!

Im very excited! It gonna be good. I agree that all they sing is popular music but i think they should sing songs from Wicked or In the Heights or something.

On the pilot, we heard Lea sing "On My Own", which was great. They also did "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat" and somebody did "Mr. Cellophane". Did you see the comic-con panel on youtube? It was very entertaining with everybody's question starting with "Hi, Lea! You were great in Spring Awakening!". I loved how Lea said that she didn't do theater in high school because the music teacher hated her. Probably jealous of her success. Who thinks that in a long time when the show gets cancelled, the final performance number should be "Light" from Next to Normal? That would just be so awesome.
