i hope the common viewer wants a singer and not a wedding singer. i cant see him singing nxt month on MTV like winner gets too. i hate how biased they are w/their whole boys gonna win spheel. i want to smack paula abdul when she goes into fangirl mode. its embarrasing. get a grip!

Oh, who cares if Taylor fans post here? She wasn't very good tonight, it's the truth. I hate to say otherwise, because I don't think anyone should walk away thinking that's the Katharine we've been seeing all season. She's in a league far above Taylor's and whether she wins or not, she always will be.

That song was horrendous. The one year they get different songs is the year that the obvious winner gets the better song. Very unfortunate and unfair. Kat will always be MY season 5 idol.

She should win!!! I want her to win. But Taylor has been at the top for awhile now. We need to bring him down. His act got tiring a long time ago for me. He's good and alll, but kat's GREAT!
Black Horse and the Cherry Tree was IMO fine. At any other point in the competition, it would have been excellent. This is the finale. She needed to step it up a little more with a better, stronger opening number. Simon was 150% right when he said (I think) "this night is bigger than that song."
Somewhere Over the Rainbow was incredible. Brilliant way to remember her from tonight. She sung it brilliantly even without a functioning earpiece. It was excellent in every way shape or form and possibly the best performance of the entire competition up to that point. Really amazing. If anything from tonight were to clinch her a win, this performance was it. And a hell of a performance it was.
My Destiny was a bit everywhere. Some parts were great some were so-so and a few brief moments were really just not good. But it's not her fault, truly, she was given a simply awful song to perform (if she does win, this better not be her single), and she did what she could with it. It seemed like it went too low and certain points and too high at others. She went into her falsetto at times when she should have pushed and belted out the note and she belted out the notes at more appropriate times for her falsetto to come in. So it was an awkward performance. Fine vocals (she is not to blame at all for the song given to her), simply forgettable and just bad song.

Overall, I thought she did a 'B' worthy job.
Now, I'll break down Taylor's performances. His first song (don't remember the name) was great. It really got the audience going and he showed a lot of energy as well as really good vocals. I think sometimes though, Taylor goes way to over the top physically and it hurts his performance in the long run. It's great that he gets so into his performances but sometimes (as exhibited at least once during this performance), he gets a little to jumpy, affecting his vocals. Still, it was a very good performance but again, while it was a bit better than Katharine's first performance, it still wasn't a big enough song for tonight.
Levon was simply awful. I'm sorry but he wandered around the stage the entire time aimless and was blank. He didn't connect or show any emotion until the last (literally) 15 seconds of the song. It was not good at all. Some moments were fine but others were just draining and grating.
His single (don't remember the name again sorry) was alright. Again, he gets a bit too into his performances and it seems like he's forgetting that the reason he got as far as he did isn't solely because he has a great personality and is able to get so into his songs, it's also because he is a good singer. I didn't think it sealed the competition up for him, before Simon spoke I was leaning toward Katharine (who at least gave ONE phenomenal performance) but America listens to Simon and for that, I think he now has the edge but that doesn't mean Katharine doesn't have a chance. I think tomorrow is going to be very interesting...
it has not aired here yet, but it does not really matter if she wins. I am actually hoping she doesn't win so she wont be committed to the american idol contract. I would rather she do her own thing now that she has the exposure.
whisked, either way, she will be committed to that contract, because the record label affiliated with the show knows that if they don't have these other people under contract to work on their label that other record labels would take the people THEY found.
