what is compelling about taylor is his joy in performing. he makes me cringe, but he really doesn't seem to care. all his spaz moves seem like an attempt to open up energy blocks, but some people think that's "style". he is pretty atrocious on a scale of "good taste" but he is really "into" it, and that attracts people.

I actually prefer her lower register, and when she can belt the higher notes, but that power ballad's climax notes were clearly out of her belt range. So why do it in that key? SO much can be done to a song to make it more comfortable for the singer. It was "supposedly" written for her for goshsakes!

Taylor's song had a much smaller range, and it seemed comfortable for him (tho I thought it was an even worse song than Kat's.)

Taylor's pitch was very iffy last nite...which is usually not a problem for him, to his credit.

She does not have great technique. She is a good singer, no doubt about it, but she is often off key, breathes in the wrong places during phrases, and can't seem to find a mix sound, which is what makes the break between her head and chest voices very evident. Don't get me wrong - she has the potential to have a great career if she learns to get out of her own way. I agree that she is very insecure, and gets confused during songs, but I think that with the proper training and career advice - she could go places.

I think it comes down to breathing. She often doesnt have the breath under her to sustain control.

You'd think mammy mcphee would've worked on that with her. Maybe she's a lousy teacher!

i actually thought the song was too low for her in the beginning. she had no spin or control until it got higher, and then she shrieked. poor dear.

If you call running from one side of the stage to the other flapping your arms in no relation to the song as "performing", then I feel sorry for you.

Maybe he's trying to "hit" some of the notes he can't get.

actually, I was thinking about this today... and I have a change in heart.. I think if either of them win.. obviously one of them is going to :) whoever wins deserves it. They both belong in the finale.. and they will both have huge careers anyway. It's just a simple title. They both have their flaws and they both have their strengths.

I was just at the gym, and they had FOX on, and the entertainment reporter out in LA was talking about how Katharine was NO FUN and decided to go home last night instead of doing tons of press, but the oh-so wonderful TAYLOR stayed and obeyed EVERYONE's wishes.

I'm starting to feel bad for Kat and all this "arrogant" and "fake" crap people are projecting on her. I mean...she can't rest up and save her voice?

Okay, so Katharine didn't win.

But we supported her and we can't stop that support here. Buy her CD when it comes out and continue to support this phenomenal performer who will only get better and better with time.

It's alright cause true artistry will win out and Taylor will be off entertaining at Bocca retirement villages soon enough.

And his actions after winning we're a joke. If I hear him yell "SOUL PATROL" one more time....

It looked alike a last grasp of recognition for him before he sets off into the land of Ruben. This will be one of the year's where the runner up has a much more successful career than the winners.
