"maybe he had a date!"
lol. So he should be thanking them? How much does one tip for such a wax, anyway?
Well, I havent seen it, so not sure how much wax would be needed. Judging by his eyebrow (singular), I suspect Top Dollar.
**Spoiler**
Peace out Cliff! Good Riddance. At least he can accept what he did as wrong. And Elia looks fabulous.
Wow, Elia does look beautiful without hair. She has such sensitive eyes.

I'm glad that although Cliff may not have gone out the way he wanted to, he went out like a man admitting his wrong and showing nothing but remorse.
As long as Marcel and Elia remain at the top, I'm good. The episode though was not as grand as I'd hoped it would be.
All I have to say is, who called it?
This was the first time that anyone of the people involved with this show (including the judges) came off as human and not characters. Padma's apology to Marcel seemed very sincere, a word I wouldn't usually associate with her. Even Tom was shown in a different light.
Granted, just watching the tape of Cliff holding Marcel down made me feel very uncomfortable and I wondered why no one came to help out as it was truly getting out of hand.
I'm glad Cliff owned up to his stupidity, but he really shot himself in the foot with that one.

Cliff is an aggressive @sshole with major issues. I don't know how remorseful he really was. He said what he did was "stupid" and he's sure as hell sorry he's going home. But he's not some kid in college and this isn't a fraternity. Grow the f--k up, Cliff. His behavior was disgusting.
I think Elia looks awful. I'd prefer for her to win, but I'm not excited like I was last season (re: Harold). At this point I don't really care.
I can't believe that they thought that it would be funny to hold somoene down. I felt really bad for Marcel. It's totally wrong, no matter how much a person might annoy you, to actually touch or hurt them in a physical way. It was beyond out of line. And I felt like the other ones thought that Marcel was overreacting or something. I really don't like Ilan's attitude. He comes off really bitchy to me.
I think that this was more than a "joke." There had to be some real hostility here. They definitely way crossed the line.
I bet Betty wouldn't have shaved her head. This crew does seem a bit dysfunctional.
Geek, I agree with the theory that it was more than a joke. These guys have exibited hostility towards Marcel in the past. It's not like he was their "buddy" that would have known they were joking and weren't really going to shave his head or whatnot. These are people that have bullied you in the past (especially in the seven sins episode) and you're suddenly roused from a deep sleep and wrestled to the ground. Scary and uncomfortable.
Cliff deserved to leave, plain and simple.
Go Elia!

Not to mention, he was frightened enough to sleep in the bathroom. It was so disturbing to watch. I don't understand the bully mentality. Never have, never will. I can only look at people like that with revulsion.
One can only imagine how frightened Marcel must have been.
Ironically, it appears that Marcel did not report this incident per se (I mean it was all documented by the camera crew), but the producers did the right thing in eliminating Cliff, and quickly, too.
Actually, as much as I disliked Marcel most of the season, two events from last night's ep made me respect him a little more.
1) Not running to the producers with the incident and telling Cliff he was sorry things worked out the way they did
and
2) When the judges were going on and on about it, he asked "can we just talk about the food?".
I agree, thirdrowcenter. Imaine being woken in the middle of the night by someone who obviously felt hostility towards you and he pinns you to the ground holding a razor. There was just absolutely no justification or rationalization for their behavior. They went way beyond even thinking about joking.
Actually, I don't think Cliff ever had the razor. I think the others were just kind of in shock watching him.
I think Sam had been sleeping.
And, though I had not liked Marcel up to that point, I do think he handled that about as well as anyone could, and that Cliff definately deserved to go. And, truth be told, he would have gone anyway, which is kind of ironic.
Um...someone was filming him, presumably Ilan as Sam was shown on the couch...
The whole "Elia, come in here and see this! Where are the clippers?!" and the fact that noone stopped or protested as Marcel was being dragged to the ground AFTER BEING WOKEN UP! was one of the most f'd up things I've seen on a reality show. The rules for any of these shows is QUITE clear...touch someone else and you go home. Cliff knew that, he was not drunk (unlike Ripsi from Bad Girls) and he showed what kind of little boy he really is. I dont care if he apologized, he'd do it again tomorrow. Ilan and Sam are not much better (I didnt see Elia, so she's off the hook for now), simply a bit smarter.
That said, Marcel is still an asshat.
Doodle, I thought the people actually filming it was the crew and not any of the contestants. They're there to observe and not get involved (i.e., Survivor, etc.).
That being said, I could only imagine what would have happened if they actually succeeded in clipping his hair. Someone would have had a lawsuit.
I assumed it was Ilan holding a camcorder, because it was like cinema verite...and he was commenting and egging on the procedings, but not seen on camera.
It doesnt really matter...noone did anything, therefore condoned it.
I was hoping that Ilan would find the astringent...unfortunately, no.

Agree 100%. Sam may have eeked out some quiet, lame-ass protest. I'll have to rewatch it to get it correct. It was akin to when Willy Wonka "protested" Augustus/Violet/Mike/Veruca getting into trouble in The Chocolate Factory while not stepping in to stop them. *extremely low voice* "Stop. Don't. I beg you." lol.
The only silver lining I can see coming out of this incident would be another special rap from Marcel.
I also think that instead of shaving his head, perhaps Sam could've agreed to at least wash his.
And, Ilan...what time is it? Isnt wearing more than one watch very 1986?
I'll have to watch the re-air of this episode, but I could have sworn they showed Ilan every now and then while Cliff was wrestling Marcel to the ground, but I don't remember seeing a camcorder. Then again, I was too busy switching back and forth between Top Chef and Janice Dickenson Modeling Agency (I can't believe I just admitted that!) so I might have missed something.

Not to mention, Marcel looked genuinely scared. Cliff's a big guy, (and Marcel is very little) and to wake up from a deep sleep to that is pretty scary.
I like to think Cliff didn't mean actual harm. BUt he was holding Marcel down way too forcefully. It made me a little uncomfortable.
Ilan showed a softer side of Sears last night. He was actually being nice. But yes, please, like doodle says, get that boy some Sea Breeze astringent to go with his Swatches!
