Posted: 7/17/09 at 12:45amYay! She was totally kick-ass, wasn't she? And I couldn't love her relationship with Rhys more; they're adorable.

yay! So glad others have finally seen it. I was a fan of the series, faults and all, and really think the show was improved ten-fold this season.
SPOILER - DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING
SPOILER - STOP NOW IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW
I am resigned that this was the last season of the show. The ending was pretty clear - there might be Capt. Jack shows, but definitely no more Torchwood. We saw one ep./night, and it was nerve wracking. I lost it when Ianto met his fate, but then I figured they were closing the show. And I just loved that we never got a really good look at the 456.
And I really hope I'm wrong about the ending of the show.

SPOILER
NO, SERIOUSLY....SPOILER
I cried multiple times. But when Ianto said, "In a thousand years, you won't remember me" and the look on his face when he said it.....I lost it.

Oh dear ... I could not understand what he said at that moment ... I'm weeping all over again.

CONTINUED SPOILER TO THE CONTINUED SPOILER
What made it even MORE sad is that the way Jack paused and looked, you knew it was true and that broke my heart.

*YEAH ... YOU KNOW THE DRILL - BIG TIME*
I saw the look, and was pissed I couldn't make out what he said. So heartbreaking.
I thought it was great how they showed Jack as a flawed person - he's made some questionable decisions, but always thinking of the greater good. I mean, sending 12 kids away in 1965 is nothing like sacrificing your grandchild.

THIS IS GETTING REDUNDANT
I agree. When he sacrificed his grandson tore my heart in two. He was crying and you know he HATED himself for what he was doing but he couldn't think of another way out.
For some reason when Rhys told Jack that Gwen looked, "Absolutely gorgeous" about her being pregnant...I lost it again. By that point, I was nothing but tears anyway.

Posted: 7/17/09 at 1:28amNow I must watch again. Maybe this weekend. I was so anxious and emotional ... need to watch it again now that I know what's coming.

*sigh*
I had to cheat and read a plot synopsis - I just couldn't be suprised by things.
***SPOILER***
Especially the fact that Ianto dies. I mean, I KNEW it would happen, but there was still that slim hope that stayed alive in my heart. But I needed to KNOW before I watched this - and even knowing the outcome, it's still going to be hard.

Q - trust me, you will be BAWLING when
**SPOILER**
Ianto dies. It's not him dying that is so sad (even though it is), it's what he tells Jack - and there is more said than what I put - and how Jack looks at him the whole time. GAH, I feel like crying now just remembering about it

Posted: 7/17/09 at 12:48pmStarting tonight (and running through Sunday) I am having a TORCHWOOD marathon. I HAVE to know how some things in "Children of Earth" started. Mainly the Ianto and Jack relationship.

Enjoy, spidey! I actually really love the show - even though there are episodes that are quite hokey.
Last night's chat really settled it - rewatching CoE this weekend.

Since I can't seem to find the DOCTOR WHO thread (damn you, search function) - Just a HEAD'S UP!!!
On monday, check www.drwho-online.co.uk because they are expecting pictures of Matt Smith in full "Doctor" gear. *EXCITED*

Posted: 7/18/09 at 9:30amI am watching TORCHWOOD season 1 and I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally want a Rhys in my life. lol
#44re: Torchwood: Children of Earth
Posted: 7/18/09 at 10:12amWait...I'm confused. When did the Doctor go into Torchwood? Jack jumped on the TARDIS in the street.
#45re: Torchwood: Children of Earth
Posted: 7/18/09 at 1:52pmspider it was Doctor Who, series 3, episode Utopia. The Doctor made a "pit stop" in Cardiff Bay next to the water sculpture to take advantage of the energy coming from the Rift.

Oh that's right. Damn. It's hard watching these NOT in order. lol
Also, I officially hate Gwen. She has a perfect man but is all in love with Jack. Even while KISSING Rhys, she looked at Jack. Bitch!

We can always ask Daydreamer to change the topic title to read SPOILERS so we don't have to worry about our posts so much.
I wouldn't count Torchwood out yet. Russell T. Davies has quit Doctor Who but has said he wants to keep his fingers in Torchwood. Maybe he just meant that he would co-write CoE. Or maybe they're planning a relaunch featuring Gwen and a new team.
There are plenty of qualified people who can join - Lois Habiba, PC Andy, that assassin lady...I think Freema Agyeman and Noel Clarke have moved on from the Whoniverse, but maybe they can be persuaded to make an occasional guest appearance. It won't be the same as the original Torchwood, but I kind of hated the original Torchwood so I'm okay with that.
And the CoE death that really hit me hard wasn't Andy's, but Frobisher's. An absolutely horrific scene; I feel a bit ill just thinking about it. I think that Frobisher may have been the emotional heart of the series.

A nice article in USA Today, along with a link to a series of Q&A with John Barrowman.
Back later after I've watched the episodes... don't want to come across any spoilers!

Spidey - I would think the correct order to catch up with both series would be:
Doctor Who Series 1 (Doctor Who Series 2)
Torchwood Season 1 - leads to the end of
Doctor Who Series 3
Torchwood Season 2
Doctor Who Series 4
(I think I have the sequence right ...)
