start with Doctor Who Season 1, ep. 1. Doctor Who builds on itself and you will be kinda lost through a few episodes in season 2-4 if you miss season 1.

Now, with Gwen. I think she is a great character, don't get me wrong.....but I am SO tired of her being like "Rhys. I love Rhys. I love him so much" and then BOOM turn around and sleep with Owen or being all touchey feely with Jack. In the "real" world, certain names would be thrown around about her but I won't go there. In "Children of Earth," Gwen became what I always wanted her to be and didn't stop while the Earth was in danger to go "But...but...Jack." And yes, she was in love with Jack. That is why in episode with the wedding she pretty much says that she does and goes to kiss him before it is shown that "Jack" is really the alien. I know there has to be a relationship dilemma, but come on. Every freakin' episode?

In Doctor Who, Rose started getting annoying (which I still like her) because it started to become more of a "Screw that the world is ending and my life is in danger.....I want the Doctor." I love the relationship between the two but not almost every episode.

I agree with the awful timing for Tosh's death. I wish she would have gotten the chance to grow and come into her own more, but I think the fact that she didn't get that chance made her death all the more sad. Although I think RTD needs to stop with the whole "killing a main character while they still have so much potential" thing. I think it's starting to piss people off.

I do think she was brilliant in Captain Jack Harkness, however. You know, basically trying to save the day while Jack is starting a love affair with...himself (although not really).

kec, the relationship between Ianto and Jack was hinted at at the end of They Keep Killing Suzie with the whole stopwatch business (I still don't really get it). Then in Captain Jack Harkness it's plainly stated that they have in fact been sleeping together.

I guess I'll have to start at the Ninth Doctor then! So much to catch up on. With this and Supernatural I'm never going to leave my TV lol

That's what everyone has been telling me! But regardless, I would probably watch it anyway now that I've discovered Jensen Ackles. I haven't actually gotten started yet, but I need to before the fifth season comes on! So I guess this comes before Doctor Who at the moment.

There are a GOOD deal of episodes with Jensen with his shirt off. Be ready to squeal. re: Torchwood: Children of Earth

"the relationship between Ianto and Jack was hinted at at the end of They Keep Killing Suzie with the whole stopwatch business (I still don't really get it). Then in Captain Jack Harkness it's plainly stated that they have in fact been sleeping together. "

I had forgotten about the whole stopwatch thing. But my point remains that other than the kiss in Cyberwoman, they weren't "sleeping together a few hours after..." Jack's stance at the end of that episode was pretty standoffish, and I remember some awkwardness in the next episode which was, I belive, Small Worlds, the episode with the fairies.

kec, I said they were sleeping together a few episodes after "Cyberwoman", not a few hours later. IIRC, in "Cyberwoman" Jack tried, at gunpoint, to get Ianto to shoot his girlfriend, an incredibly cruel thing to do even by asshole Jack standards. That wasn't exactly a happy episode for their relationship - how they could even trust each other afterwards was a big open question. And while I haven't watched S1 in a long time, I still don't remember anything that would explain how those two went from threatening to kill each other to sexy stopwatch shenanigans. It was mind-boggling.

And PJ, I aim to please. I think. (Hyper writing mode is super useful when I have a paper to finish. It's a bit more odd on a message board, I know. :P)

Sorry, Plum, I could have sworn you said "hours" in your second message on the subject, but obviously I read it wrong. Must be all the tears in my eyes from the last two episodes that blurred my vision. re: Torchwood: Children of Earth

Oooh I missed out on this disscussion due to holiday! Love COE can't wait to watch it again!

IIRC the Jack/Ianto thing is first hinted at in 'they keep killing suzie' (and I had to have that pointed out to me retrospectivly) HOWEVER in 'Fragments' in the Ianto flashback we see flirting between Jack/Ianto-I think the writer said he wanted 'a romantic comedy with a Pterodactyl' how that fits into the whole Cyberwoman thing I don't know, but as I like to pretend that didn't happen it's easy for me re: Torchwood: Children of Earth

LOL at pretending Cyberwoman didn't happen. I like that policy. Can we add Abaddon from End of Days to that list?

I don't really get how Ianto and Jack went to Janto either. I mean, I guess Fragments helped clear it up a little, but not really seeing as how Ianto was still in love with Lisa at that point. But then again, I don't watch this show because everything fits into place perfectly.

I didn't really get how it became a thing either, I liked the arc through s2 and COE though, and I feel like it came to it's logical conclusion-Jack couldn't really be in a relationship for any length of time.

Yes Jack's other superpower is being attractive to all animal mineral vegtable and alien matter in the universe! Even the Doctor has got in on that action re: Torchwood: Children of Earth

Barrowman is making his way through the Doctors. (He laid a big one on Eccleston when they were filming "The Parting of the Ways".) Matt Smith had better watch his back. :)

lol indeed! A little part of me would like Captain Jack to see the Doctor regenerate just to get that 'oh hello' reaction when he does!

Barrowman actually said meeting Matt Smith felt like 'Cheating' on David Tennant!
