The early review are rapturous. I can't wait to see it in 3D on Saturday night!
"the studio's greatest achievement since 'The Incredibles,' and -- just maybe -- since the original 'Toy Story.'" Parts of the movie, he writes, have "the poignancy of a Tennessee Williams play."
-Entertainment Weekly
"While "the movie segues into a prison escape thriller with apocalyptic undertones, the suspense [is] always leavened with laughs." Calling the movie a "masterpiece," Ms. Puig also writes, "the tale touches the heart as no movie in recent memory has done."
- 4 out of 4 stars from USA Today
"...as sweet, as touching, as humane a movie as you are likely to see this summer." Some scenes, he writes, may be frightening to small children. But that seems like a small quibble. According to Scott, on the whole, it provides "sheer moviegoing satisfaction" and is "wondrously generous and inventive."

Early reviews for Toy Story 3
Updated On: 6/19/10 at 09:38 PM
I'm getting antsy, but I don't think I'm gonna have a date this weekend. Unless I go with my folks, but then we'd have to go during the day, and that means hundreds of unruly children.
I took the day off from work tomorrow just to go to the first show of Toy Story 3. I have been waiting for this movie for a long time now. I just hope it lives up to my expectations.
SO EXCITED about this movie. Going at one point this weekend to see it.
I was considering *maybe* going to see it this weekend, but after reading that I'm definitely going!
Just got back from it and all I can say is wow. The reviews really are justified. It's a phenomenal film, and it's nostalgic while being really relatable to the audience. I was 5 when the original Toy Story came out, so I am around Andy's age. Toy Story was a big part of my childhood and it's really nice to see Andy aging with us and just dealing with the whole issue of growing up and moving on.
Really nicely done, and now I need some time to soak it all in. It's very bittersweet because we know that this is the final chapter, and they ended it so beautifully.
We're going at 11:45 tonight, hoping to avoid kids.
I'm ok with 3D for a movie like this -- it's not like it was tacked on later - it was actually filmed in 3D.
I went to the midnight premier last night and I too am still soaking it in. All I can really say is that it was a masterpiece, go see it for yourselves people so we can chat about it, haha.
For those uneasy about the 3D, I actually thought it was very well done.
Toy Story 3 is The Dark Knight of animated features. I was mesmerized. I laughed hard, and I wept harder.
My son went to the midnight showing last night and due to technical difficulities, it started an hour late (at least he got a voucher for a free movie). He was hoping to avoid the kids too but he said sitting right behind him was this 5/6 year old kid with a buzzing Buzz Lightyear toy that asked every 5 minutes what's going on, what's happening... Why would someone take a kid that young to a midnight showing? Anyway, he said the movie was really good!
I LOVED it! Big Baby is the scariest Disney character EVER! IMO, Ken stole the show. He really is a Diva. The finale really had me in tears. You just know this will break box office records and Disney will not be able to let this go. I predict Disney will announce within a week TOY STORY 4,which is lame because they could not have wrapped the story up any better. There's nothing else say, so a 4th film would just be to milk an already good thing. It was just flawless. What surprised me most was the emotion this story had. Seriously, you will need to bring some Kleenex.
By the way, I never noticed this but heard people in the theater talking about how when the film came out in 1995, Christian groups were angry that the 2 kids in the film had a single mother. I can hear the Christians asking the questions now. Is she divorced? Gay? Do the 2 kids have the same father? Did she have the kids out of wedlock? Oh the horror! (LOL)
I went to the 9:15 am show this morning and managed to avoid all but a dozen kids. The audience was only filled with about 20-25 people so it was perfect. The movie was another masterpiece and was just as good as Toy Story and Toy Story 2. I agree with everyone, it got very emotional at the end. Very well done.
Looks like we've got one of our ten Best Picture Oscar nominees already pretty much set in stone...
So thrilled to see this movie. Truly can't wait!

John Lassetter has stated unequivocally that there will be no more films in this series. This is the only franchise in the Pixar cannon he was willing to go on the record to say that about, so I believe him.
Just got back from this as well. First, let me say if you're thinking about shelling out the extra cash for 3D, don't. I forgot I was even at a 3D movie until near the end when I remembered I had glasses on. It adds absolutely nothing to the film. Now that said...this is a masterpiece. It's Disneys best film since the last Toy Story and should set a new standard to which all animated films should strive to equal. The last twenty minutes had me sobbing like I was seeing OLD YELLER for the first time. From the *spoiler* Trash compactor to the end credits I was just a mess. But they did end this series in the most beautiful, touching and appropriate way they could so I couldn't be happier.
Oh, an Big Baby scared the piss out of me and will make your kids throw out their baby dolls the second they get home.
I personally think the monkey was scarier than Big Baby.
Of course the ending was teary, but there were several other times during the film where I was teary-eyed.
All in all, I think I was just glad it wasn't watered down to be a little kid movie.
And well said JP2.
Every person I've spoken with who has seen it has RAVED about it. That, along with the raves here, and the rave critics reviews make me REALLY excited to see this tomorrow night.
Yeah. I forot to mention all of those people have also said they were crying during the last 15 minutes and that there wasn't a dry eye in the theater.
And Armond White once again ruins a perfectly good tomatometer rating.
