Oh my, I'm a selfish git, and I didn't even read any of your guys's posts! Jez, congratulations on scoring a ticket! Hogan seems like a great area to watch the show from. And even if the view sucks, who cares??--You're at a stadium concert for U2 in Dublin!

Naturally, be sure to post a review, yada yada. (Are you sneaking in a camera?)

No, I'm the selfish one - sixteen hour days sound tough! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Yeah, I'll be bringing a camera. Dunno if I'll have to sneak it in though, I've never had any trouble before. They photos will turn out to be awful anyway, I'm sure.

Mabs, yeah, PAing is getting better. I've graduated from the crew park now and sometimes even get to hobnob! I wouldn't exactly say that Ashanti and I are likethat now though. I had some choiced words that I accidentally used to her mother. About her. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Jez, what section are you in? Did you get them at face value? Are you bringing a disposable or what?

I have to say I never really saw the appeal of Ashanti...but I'm sure she's lovely(?)!

I'm in section 730 which aren't the best seats in the house (very high!), but it's better than nothing. And yes, face value too! I'm was planning on just bringing my regular camera like I usually do, but maybe they'll be a bit stricter with such a grand-scale concert, so now I don't know!

It's 8am here - I'm just killing time while others flap about getting ready to leave, but after your sixteen hour days I would think you'd need your sleep at 3 in the morning, Tiff!

I would say bring your regular camera, as well as a disposable to stick up your pant leg if it comes to sneaking it in. And of course, enough cash for your One bracelet and over-priced U2 gear, oui? What time are you leaving for the show? 5 hour drive, you say? Aren't you glad you have reserved seats? Imagine the chaos for people in general admission!

I'm completely pooped. Yesterday, we did an over-night shoot from 7pm to 8am, so I slept during the day, went to work for a bit, and now my sleep schedule is totally warped. Luckily for me, it's "Da Vinci Code Sunday" on the National Geographic channel now, so I'll be up watching it for a bit. But you best get some sleep! No excuse for dozing off at the show!

It's only a five hour drive because I happen to not be in Dublin at the moment, usually it'd be a ten minute bus journey!

What movie are you working on? I imagine it to be glamourous and fun, but I guess it's not. Better than a normal job, though right?

Are National Geographic showing the documentary 'The Real Da Vinci Code'? It's interesting.

I've been working on a couple of movies - I did a TV show called "The 4400" (and I'm doing it again later on this week), and a movie called "R.V." with Robin Williams and Kristin Chenoweth, but I've spent most of my time on the set of "John Tucker Must Die", with Ashanti, Brittany Snow and Jesse Metcalfe (from Desperate Housewives). Next week I'm also doing some movie with Amanda Bynes. Don't worry if most of these names mean nothing to you - I was stifling a yawn when I was reading the call sheet for Tucker too. Brittany Snow is sort of popular in the States for this show she's on, "American Dreams". Ashanti isn't a big deal in Canada, so I find it funny that she has an entourage surrounding her at every moment, and Robin Williams doesn't. I think the biggest name there is Jesse, and he's only popular because he's the gardener screwing Eva Longoria on "Desperate Housewives". (Is that on in Ireland?)

I still have my fingers crossed that I'll get called for "Catch & Release" with Jen Garner - then I'll get a sneaky pic of her protruding tummy and Ben Affleck, and live off the proceeds from selling the photos for a few years. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

It's fun, but hardly glamourous. For every fleeting moment I have with a celebrity, I've got hours upon monotonous hours of chasing away spectators, running errands and yelling at the lighting crew. Then again, I show up for work, I clock in, and then they send me for a catered breakfast, and continue to feed me for the rest of the day - so I can't complain. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

And yeah, I think they're showing "The Real DVC", as well as a few hours on the Holy Grail. 5 hrs total.

Yep, Desperate Housewives in on here! We had the season finale just a week after you guys. Wait, you're in Canada? I think I knew that...

Ashanti isn't very big here either, although I've heard of her. Seems a bit bland music-wise AND personality-wise, at least in interviews. The 4440 is on here too - it's the one about the missing people right?

And good luck with the Jennifer Garner movie!

Yep, I'm in the "Great North" up here! (I suppose people refer to Ireland as the "Great North" as well? Heh.) Ashanti isn't very popular here, yet she's pulled the diva act apparently since day 1. She's not even very good looking in person, or all that talented. (Her voice is fine, but as you said, it's very bland. Plus it's not my style of music anyway - but even as someone who can appreciate good R&B, it ain't her.) She's shown up almost every day late for work - almost 20-30 minutes. And it's because she keeps her driver waiting when he comes to pick her up every morning, and he's under strict instructions to not phone up for her when he arrives - she'll come down on her own terms. She also won't go to the catering tent with the other mere mortals and stars - she'll send someone to deliver food to her. She has an entourage that surrounds her whenever she's not rolling, and they literally encircle her when they're walking, so no one is allowed to approach her without approval from her bodyguard.

In the mean time, everyone else is fine standing in line at catering and at least making eye contact and smiling at the crew members. Yeesh.

I think The 4400 is on in Canada as well, but I've never seen it. I think it's a small cult hit in the States. It's about those missing people, yeah. I didn't see much of the filming, but I read the script for a few episodes and the dialogue is laughably bad.

Alrighty, it's been good talking to you! I've gotta veg in front of the TV now. Have fun at the concert (duh!) and be sure to post afterwards, eh?

So Ashanti is a diva. Is this common with the movies on? I hope she gets her comeuppance soon, or at least trips over or something! I've never seen The 4440 either, but I've seen the DVD in the shops, which has a cool 3D cover. Still it must have something going for it if it's on it's second season, I suppose.
Are you in Toronto? They seem to make a whole load of movies there for some reason, don't they!

It's actually fairly uncommon to have divas/divos on sets - and strangely enough, it seems to be the bigger stars who manage to stay more humble than their lesser, modern counterparts. For example, a couple of days ago, Robin was running like, 10 minutes late to set, and it was because his driver was stuck in traffic. Not his fault at all. Nevertheless, he made sure to personally apologize to everyone on set who was waiting for him, and sent out personal apology notes to the assistant directors for his tardiness. That's class. I made the mistake of bitching about Ashanti with another AD who was complaining that she should never have been hired and that she wasn't worth the trouble - we didn't realize Mommy Ashanti was standing right behind us. I made a beeline outta there.

I think the biggest asshole has to be Sly Stallone though - the rumors are true. He really does have it in his contract that no one on set is to address him or make eye contact with him. He ever has an assistant shadowing him to make sure no one breaks these rules in his presence. He's walked off set when someone's, you know, looked up. Arnold is supposed to be a nice guy, but fake. On "The Sixth Day", he was waxing poetic on how fantastic Vancouver is (where I live) and how he'd love to film T3 there - soon after, he started campaigning against "runaway productions" just in time for the gubernatorial elections. Hmm...

Alright, I must sleep. I'll be back on here some time next week, and you'll be getting an earful of my celebrity bitching and moaning, whether you like it or not! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

A late "hope you have (had) a great time at U2" to Jezebel.

Tiff, twas fun reading your stuff about PAing. Sounds like Ashanti is a right bitch...taking a page from the Book of Sly, perhaps? I think it's a riot to see how celebs act in person. Since this is quasi-on topic, I must say that the handful of folks I had the pleasure of "working" with were all really nice and respectful of the peons...with the exception of John Goodman (though I think that's more credited to the fact that he was particularly huge and out of shape, and I think the schedule was catching up to him, putting him in a particularly crabby mood...I did hear stories of him opening doors for people and being chatty at the local restaurants...maybe he just got into "show mode" and didn't want to be messed with...He did plow by me and shove me behind a door once though, and all I got was a look saying "well what the hell were you doing there in the first place?!?!?!")...I'm in a name dropping mood, so here goes. Pacino liked to just kind of keep himself closed up in his dressing room and didn't really chat much, but I exchanged a few words w/ him (does his asking me for water count?!?!) and made eye contact (uncomfortably long eye contact...he was freaking me out!)...Steve Buscemi and Chazz Palminteri were beyond cool. Super nice and friendly...Crudup was unsure of lines and a place to make his entrance and had to double check info w/ Paul Giamatti in the wings...oh, and I got inadvertantly "dragged into" a race he was having back to his dressing room w/ another cast member (fun to think of the silliness that goes on backstage!) Oh, and when I'd usher for the show, Ajay Naidu (from Office Space) who had to make an entrace from the lobby, would always pop over and say hi to the ushers before going in.

I do think it's funny that B-celebs are more full of themselves than people like Robin Williams (just picking him since you've witnessed his actions firsthand) who's an Academy Award winner w/ crazy credits to his name.

Well, back to "work." Glad to hear PAing's going better, Tiff. Be sure to fill us (or at least me, if no one else is really interested) w/ your little celeb tidbits from the set.

Hope you have a great show, Jez, and I hop you get some quasi-decent pix. I'll be looking forward to your review!!

Saw this online:

U2 to Donate Millions to Africa

Irish rockers U2 will donate $6 million (GBP3.3 million) of their own money towards eliminating poverty in Africa.

BONO, ADAM CLAYTON, THE EDGE and LARRY MULLAN, who will be performing at the London leg of next Saturday's (02JUL05) LIVE 8 in Hyde Park, will each make a donation from profits of their current VERTIGO tour.

A source says, "The band and their manager PAUL McGUINNESS are giving about one million euro ($1,200,000/GBP665,000) each.

"It would seem hypocritical if they were asking people to help the charity effort and weren't doing something themselves.

"But their personal gesture is not something they are going to boost."

Aw, aren't they sweet. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! Not like they can't afford it based on how much they charge for tickets, but commendable nonetheless.

And you'd think that whatever source that article came from would at least spell the band members' names correctly. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

I know I said I wasn't going to look at setlists, but I couldn't help myself - so sue me! Hooray for Jez! Even without that great setlist, any show in Dublin would be a great one I'd imagine. I wonder what the setlists for the first two shows were like. Will this hold out until October do you think?

Since you haven't been checking out the Europe setlists, and it might look like a kind of standard-ish (though significantly longer) setlist from first leg standards, there were something like 6 European premieres (or whatever you'd want to call it) at this gig! I peeked in at the other two shows, and I think I read somewhere that they played 36 different songs in Dublin, so I guess that was pretty varied.

Also, there are lots of rumors floating around that they'll be back in the states in 2006 sometime for a stadium tour. We shall see!

re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! They did NOT do a "One/Unchained Melody" medley, did they? I seriously think I have just plotzed. That is by and far the best setlist of this tour (granted I haven't really followed the Euro lists much).

26 songs? Lucky duck!! I can't wait for the boots!!! (I love you, Mabs.)
