I just saw a clip of Paul McCartney on ET when he appeared at Superbowl halftime, singing "Hey Jude". Um, yeah sweetie, I think I've gotta come to NYC earlier. Budget be damned!

PS. What's DMB?

Oh, you have to see DMB! I would have gone if I were here. I've seen them twice (well, once was actually just Dave and Friends) but they're amazing live.

Tiff, are you serious? Dave Matthews Band. Updated On: 6/28/05 at 10:26 PM

Dave Matthews Band, m'dear.

Oh and you might want to hang on until I get a glimmer of a ticket lead before you go booking that early flight! I haven't really seem much of anything, unfortunately. I'm really leery of buying on eBay, and I haven't seen anything but floor seats for MSG on McCartney's board. I guess we'll see what pops up in the next couple of months. I saw the commercials for that McCartney thing, but I missed it. I take it it was a big *thumbs up*???

U2-related article! About how they're suing their former stylist for stealing from them. How cool would it be to be U2's stylist? I probably woulda snagged a few things, too (not as much as she did, though, don't worry).

Oh. Dave Matthews Band. *yawn*

Thanks for the article, #1. I'm surprised the memorabilia is only worth $6000 though. I would have thought the cowboy hat would have auctioned for at least that amount. I hope they get the stuff back, but so much time has passed that it's hard to prove they didn't give them to her as a gift and are just feeling spiteful that she published that book and tried to sell the stuff. I love Bono's retort about the premature iconic status of the hat: "Oh no, we had delusions of grandeur from the very beginning." re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Hey, didja guys hear that Brad Pitt is going to co-host the Philly Live 8 with Will? Even though the musical acts are still dismal (oh, and Ellie, Celine IS doing Live 8. In Ontario! *smirk*), at least there'll be eye candy.

What channel is Live 8 broadcasting on in the States? We've got it on CTV in Canada (as if that means anything to you guys), and the coverage starts from 1am EST on July 2 until roughly 1am EST on July 3. Same with you guys? I'm at work both days, which means it's going to be a whole lot of 8 hr tapes for me!

And before I forget, does anyone know if there's a DVD bootleg of No Doubt opening for U2 in 2001? I'd love an MSG boot, but anything will suit me!

Yeah, I'm not a huge Dave fan by any means. All I have is Crash. But I do kind of like DMB, and I think it's worth it for the whole magilla...$50 for a mondo fest sounds like a deal.

I read the article too, and I agree that $6000 seems awufully low and it'll be a hard case for them to win. An awful lot of he said she said.

And finally, Tiff, had you checked interference on a quasi-regular basis (I know, I know, you're crazy busy, so you can't really check) the guy who just sent me 4 DVDs was giving away 10 copies of MSG 10/27/01 (I'm sure No Doubt isn't on there though, if that's what you were looking for). Might be worth checking the thread out to see if any of the folks who get their copies go back to give away a few. I figured it'd be pushing it to ask they guy who'd just been nice enough to send me some for yet another DVD!

Ooh, Brad Pitt. That makes me a little bummed about not going to Live 8 in Philly (it's only an hour away from me). I know MTV is broadcasting it, they have an 8-hour broadcast scheduled. I'm not sure if any other networks have it. I'm pissed because I'll be on a plane throughout the entire thing. I leave on July 1st and arrive at my destination on July 3d. I would get my mom to tape it for me, but that means I have to go get an 8-hour tape.

I'll try to tape it, Elphie, but that'd mean trying to figure out how to turn my damn VCR to EP. I know, it should be easy, but I like it when there's a convenient little button that just says "EP/SP" and you don't have to go through the menu and all that! I'll see what I can do. If push comes to shove, I'm sure it'll be on DVD before long...but that probably wouldn't be the whole show.

Ooooh!!! I just got a lot of 56 FREE U2 CDs!!! How exciting! I know, I know...I need more boots, like a hole in the head, but they were FREE! And I'm super excited that the lot's got the Achtung Baby outtake sessions! Woohoo! And a mix CD of duets w/ other artists! Exciting stuff! *sigh* I need a life.

56?! All from the same person? Pretty cool! I wouldn't even know where to start if I were you and had that many cds to listen to!

Thanks, but I'm sure I'll figure out how to tape Live 8; I might even be able to record it on a dvd (I think it would have to be 2 dvds, actually). And I know it's being broadcast online, so if worse comes to worse I'm sure I'll be able to find clips online afterwards.

I know!!! Who needs that many?!?!? And I fully realize I was a wench swiping them up when there are all those poor newbies that have zilch...oh well! I'll repost any duplicates I have and send them off to make up for my greediness! I just wanted the Achtung Baby outtakes, dammit! I think this is going to officially put me on the wrong side of the crazy line. I'd been picking up one or two here and there...Yeah, 56...I don't know what I'm going to do w/ them all! *smacks head to desk* Apparently it's official. Bad (and by bad, I mean totally unnecessary) things happen when I have hours of idle time!

Aaaannnnyway...how's packing going, Elph?? Crazy, I'd imagine. How does one even pack for winter in New Zealand?!?! It's getting right down to the wire!

I still can't get over that! 56 bootlegs. Wow. You'll probably never even get to all of them! The one on the wrong side of the crazy line, though, is probably the person who sent them all to you. How did that person have 56 cds to give away?

Haha. Packing. Thanks for reminding me. How does one pack for 5 months of winter? And clothes are really expensive there, so I've been told not to buy anything there. Oh, and get this: there's no heating over there. NONE of their buildings have central heating. And it'll be, like, 30 degrees (well, maybe 40 if I'm lucky). I've been in contact with an assigned mentor over there, one of my flatmates, and a person from Richmond who was there last year, and every single one of them keeps telling me to bring lots of blankets and sweaters. But despite all that, packing is actually going okay. I've got one suitcase full already, and I'm planning on taking one more. There's just so much little stuff to remember. Anyway, sorry for that long rant. The point is that it's very stressing!

Oh Elphie!!! That was far from a lengthy rant. I could go on and on and on about how hungry I was at 10:30 this morning. Don't test me, I was freakishly hungry!...I somehow think that trying to pack for 5 months in NZ is slightly more...what am I looking for??? Justified/relevant/interesting...all of the above.

I wouldn't know how to pack for a move like that. I have enough problems packing to go to school 4 hours away from home, when I can easily have something mailed to me, or have my mom drop something off when she visits during the year to catch a show. If you can get 5 months worth of winter stuff into TWO suitcases, I'll give you the gold star to end all gold stars. Then again, I come from a long line of compulsive over-packers, so...Oh, and how can they not have heating?!?! Crazy talk.

<---------Spoiled American, right here!!!
I like long showers, and I like 'em HOT! (There are very few things I consider myself "high maintenance" about, but that's most definitely one of them).

Do you have a down comforter?? I know they're large and bulky, but they throw off some serious heat.

And the 56 boot thing. I think it's 56 CDs (so probably more like 30 shows...I'd imagine some are single CD shows)...but still!!! I agree, that's straight up nutty. And she didn't even want $$ for shipping. *shrug* Whatever floats your boat. Thank ya very much!

Hey ladies,

Can't stay long. Just popping in quickly just in case I didn't get to talk to #1 before she leaves. Have a WONDERFUL time in Aus (as if I need to tell you that for it to happen!). I'll be back online some time tonight. I was on set until 5am today and I'm poopizzled. (Fo' shizzle.) No big names this time - just Amanda Bynes (who?). I know nothing about her except she's not Hillary of Lindsay. Set was BEAUTIFUL. Yada yada.

Screw me though, let's talk about 56 CDs?!?!? Obsessive? Compulsive? re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! From one guy? Has he been sainted yet? I'll look up doing a B&P thingy on Interference - I wonder if there's even a No Doubt/U2 DVD in existence!

Ciao! Be back later!

Thanks Tiff!
The girls I used to babysit would be SO jealous of you. I had to watch The Amanda Show all the time with them. She's actually not a bad comedian, though. Anyway, I'll post here again tomorrow morning before I go.

In case I miss you, Elphie...good morning, good afternoon and goodnight (or whatever Truman said), and have a fab time. Don't turn into a hairy little hobbit with odd feet! I wouldn't worry about missing Live 8 - I'm sure it'll be released on DVD soon, and while the price might be high, at least the money will go to charity. And anyone who can afford to swan half way 'round the world for five months of living the high life can surely afford a few DVDs. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

P.S. Did Tiff infer that New Zealand was in Australia? I know she said 'Aus', which could mean she was talking about the continent of Australia, but that would seem unlikely as that term usually only refers to the country of Australia. Only a thick eejit would use it otherwise...aah, that explains it.

Oh. My. God!!!!

Word on the street is U2 will be performing Sgt. Pepper's...w/ Paul McCartney to open Live8...as it that's not enough, they are supposed to be performing in ful Sgt. Pepper's garb! This best be on TV!!! I don't care about P. Diddy. I want to see the lads make asses out of themselves! Genius. Genius. GENIUS!!!

No, thank you for the suggestion! But you are mistaken in assuming that I "can afford to swan half way 'round the world for five months of living the high life." The money I'd save in recording it is definitely important considering how much of my meager savings I'm blowing on this trip. But if I manage to screw up the recording, I'll keep your dvd suggestion in mind. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Good lord, I can't wait for this! It was on Access Hollywood, and they superimposed their heads on an old photo of The Beatles. I'm betting Larry will be less than cooperative. I mean, look at him in the Discotheque video. Do we really think he'll be cool w/ wearing a pink Sgt. Pepper's costume?!?!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that this weekend (2-4) ticketmaster's got a bunch of lawn tix for concerts for sale for $18. I guess part of the $ goes to Live8, and it includes the cost of a One bracelet. I'll have to take a more serious look at what's playing where. I took a quick peek at work, but there didn't seem to be a whole lot of interest at venues that'd be quasi-convenient. Good deal though!

But...but...but...the money will go to charity, Elphie! And you'll have it in shiny disc-form with nice packaging you can keep forever!

And I can't wait to see them perform Sgt.Peppers. Has it been confirmed or is it just conjecture or wishful thinking? Maybe Paul will do a U2 song! Oooh, like what?

I've been hearing about U2/Paul doing Stg. Pepper's for a week or so, but today was the first hearing about the garb! I wonder what U2'll sing on their own...I'd think One and Crumbs would be appropos. Oh, and I guess Paul's supposed to be closing the concert out w/ The Long and Winding Road. I haven't really read much of anything else about it. I figured reading about the craziness in London would just be sad, considering the lineup we've got in Philly.

Yeah, I'd wager they'll deffo be doing One. Will MTV be cutting back and forth between the various concerts worldwide, or just covering Philadelphia? Are the shows even on simultaneously?
