Hello?? Ellie???

Ech...I've really got nothing, Tiff.

I take it work's been a bitch...does that go w/o saying?

I don't have the energy to read the last page (nothing against you...I'm just exhausted) and tmrw's the last day for She's The Man, so I think it's gonna be a ridiculously late wrap time. I can't even muster the energy to collapse in bed.

Did Conan call?

Oh you aren't missing much. It's just me droning on and on. Not very exciting...To catch you up quickly, work's boring, I'm sending out apps for some more internships, groupie's car was stolen, but she got more $$ for it than she thought, and she adopted a new puppy...elphie's stalker's no longer in the picture, aaaannnnnddd...yeah, that's pretty much it. Amazing that all that managed to take up SO much room, isn't it?!?

ETA: Nothing from Conan...I think I missed the deadline on that one (well, there wasn't a deadline, but by the time I got it in the mail, the ad wasn't online anymore)...Night, Tiff (if you're still kickin' around)...have a good last day on set tomorrow!!!

Hey all! I figured we needed a bump. You still alive, Tiff? Ellie's fallen off the face of the earth.
I'm supposed to be working on an essay, but it just feels wrong to be doing that in August.

I'm supposed to be working on an essay, but it just feels wrong to be doing that in August.
Well, I'd imagine it also feels wrong to be wearing a sweater and being able to see your breath in your flat in AUGUST! U who?

Not much of interest up here. There were all of 3 people in the office today. I only got 2,000 of my little thing-ama-jigs done. Oops!

I'm still here, camping out, but hopefully I'll get to OK to leave w/in the next 1/2 or so.

Tiff, how'd the last day at She's the Man go?? Do you have a new PAing gig? I saw on the bitches thread that you thought October was looking more and more promising...and that hippo picture on your FL thread was too funny. Bathing suits suck the big one. Blech!

Yeah, I'm chiming in on the where the hell is Ellie front. She wasn't supposed to be going on vacation, was she? I know she went to Cape Cod earlier this summer...I know there is such a thing as a life beyong BWW, but still...El' if you see this, drop a quick "hi" or something to let us know you're still kickin'!

What else...I saw Sweet Charity yesterday. I liked it more than I was expecting to. I love Denis O'Hare, so it's always fun to see him, and I didn't think Christina Applegate was as bad as most people have been saying. I thought she got by just fine not having the best singing voice.

Now for something U2 related...Oh wait, I have nothing U2 related! I didn't realize there are only a couple of Euro dates left. I better soak up those last couple of setlist parties on interference, because I really am going to try to avoid them before August. I only set myself up for disappointment in Boston on that, so no more! I do hope they toss in a couple new old songs. I think Seconds would be good in w/ the L&PoE/SBS/Bullet trio.

Guess that's about it.

*waves*

U who?

My mom sent me the Live 8 dvds! The good ones, from when MTV and VH1 aired it the week after the concert with no commercials or commentators, just music. I watched one disc and I'll probably get to the other one tomorrow. It takes a while to get through, because there's no commercials or anything, so I never had to fast forward a thing. And, because I was bored, I paused it to capture that shot (above). I thought we needed SOMETHING U2 related.
Any news on support acts for leg 3? I don't go to any U2 sites anymore because I want to avoid spoilers and basically any U2 concert news whatsoever, but I do want to know who else we'll be seeing!

"Well, I'd imagine it also feels wrong to be wearing a sweater and being able to see your breath in your flat in AUGUST!"

True. U who? It's supposed to snow tomorrow. Snow in August. I'll never get over that.

I'm glad you liked Sweet Charity, Mabs. I really loved it.

Yay for getting the Live8 DVDs!!! I taped about 7 hours worth of coverage (about 2 hours in, I discovered a website that had the order of the performances, so I kept that open and weeded out the acts I had no interest in...aka Destiny's Child, etc). It was definitely a vast improvement over the orginal airing (of which I also have 7-8 hours worth of coverage...all crap!)

Still no official word on the support act(s). Most people are speculating that there will be several openers, and one that's been mentioned in several places is Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Never heard of them, and when I looked on Amazon, there really only seemed to be singles and a $45 Import CD. I think not! The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, and Arcade Fire had been tossed around earlier, but they've all got their own gigs set for September/October...maybe they could open some gigs in November/December?? I don't know. It seems odd that there's been no word yet (and still no word on who's opening for the Stones at MSG...other cities have Beck, Pearl Jam, Wilco, etc so I'm kind of psyched about that...until I see other cities w/ Maroon 5 and the Black Eyed Peas!!! Ugh!)

Only a couple more Euro dates. I'm still going to pop onto interference to check out the Dates page on the Vertigo Tour board. There have been some rumblings about a couple of added dates in some week long gaps. I have my doubts, but I'd kick myself if I missed an added date in NY/Boston. Anything that didn't have a pre-sale gives me that glimmer of hope of snagging GA, and I'm kind of on the lookout for a cheap pair for 11/21 or 12/4 in Boston, so I could bring my mom...I can't believe my parents are going on vacation starting 10/14. I was so proud of myself snagging those tix! If I were a good daughter, I'd trade them for one of those other dates, but I can't bring myself to part w/ date MSGV!!! C'mon?!?! You know if I got rid of them, it'd end up being a 25 song set w/ the premiere of Fast Cars or something!!! Can't do it. I'm sure I'll find something for one of those 2 dates.

ETA: Saw this on interference re: opener (not MSG, but it's the first quasi-official thing I've seen for the 3rd leg at all)

"They just annonced on Montreal radio stations that The Arcade Fire will be the opening act for the Ottawa and Both Montreal shows.

I'm going to the second show,here in Montreal..just can't wait,now."

Since those dates are all in late November (after MSG VI and VII) maybe they'll be opening in NYC too?? Dunno.

This is going to be the best night of the year for me..Arcade Fire/U2..Best combo

Bring on November 28th!"

Howdy ladies!

1. PMed Ellie, and she responded a couple of days ago. She's alive and...well, not too well, but she's around kicking! I think a care pack to CT is in order, dontcha think, Mabs?

2. Wrap day at She's The Man was the best day I've had on set. Ever. First, our last lunch was spectacular - appetizers were jumbo spring rolls, chicken wraps, and scallop salad; entrees were Cuban lobster tail and NY sirloin!! Dessert was peanut butter and chocolate cheesecake, creme brulee, carrot cake, and banana rum flambe. Second, I finally worked up the courage to talk to Lauren Shuler-Donner, who is sort of my Hollywood idol and the reason I signed up to work on this movie. She was amazing, articulate, intelligent, supportive and gave me some great advice about getting into the producing sector of mainstream Hollywood. Third, when we finally wrapped, the whole cast and crew (including cast who had already wrapped but came back to watch the final shot being filmed) popped the champagne and beer and we all got drunk on the soundstage while noshing on a turkey dinner AND a 3'x3' cake! Finally, the Locations Manager (who was always kind of aloof towards me during filming) presented me with a bottle of wine, as thank you for sticking it out till the end, and told me to drop by the production office this week to pick up Dreamworks goodies! I'm over the moon! I'll really miss this show. U who?

3. #1, so you're seriously going to stick with avoiding the third leg set lists like the plague?? U who? M-M-Mabs? You too?? *pout*

4. New York is on hold again. I've got $1600 in my account at the moment, and $300 of that is to pay off the rest of my credit card bills; $1000 of that is going to my parents to partially pay for the Florida/Carib trip. The rest can go towards New York, but $300 won't even cover my airfare, much less the rest. U who?

5. Can you imagine Arcade Fire opening for U2 at MSG??? So when the "Everyone...Everyone!" part comes on and U2 snakes their way to the stage, Arcade Fire will be introducing them in person! Okay, I just stated the obvious - it just seems so cool!

6. It looks like if things keep up, Lennon tickets may be easier to come by than we thought - likely, we can get them at TKTS on Saturday (assuming other Lennon-heads aren't swarming to go that weekend as part of a Lennon birthday pilgrimage).

7. I wasn't too interested in seeing Sweet Charity, but I like Denis O'Hare. I actually gave him his Canadian work visa when I was working in immigration last year!

Ooooh, Tiff!!!! I'm colossally bored at work, so YAY!

In response:

1.) I've already offered a care package to Ellie, but the weirdo wouldn't give me her address, so I guess she'll just have to wait until October to get one in person. Good to hear she's still alive though!

2.) Wrap day sounds AMAZING!!!! Super jealous, if for no other reason but THE FOOD! Ugh! It makes me so depressed to think that I'm going home to leftover meatloaf. I'm glad you mustered up the courage to talk to your Hollywood guru, and that's great that you got a bottle of wine and an invite to the production office to pick up goodies! Goodies and SWAG...good times, my friend!

3.) I've decided I must lay off the setlists. I'll only end up bummed out like Boston (though w/ 3 shows at MSG including the last, I don't see how that would be possible *knock on wood*) I don't need to be sitting there saying "they've had a pattern of playing Bad on night II, so my odds are great that I'll hear it...I seriously missed 1/2 of Beautiful Day in Boston, because I was still dumbfounded that they played The Ocean instead of An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart.

4.) Well that blows!

5.) Considering they're already booked elsewhere for our set of dates at MSG, Arcade Fire's out for us. As are The Killers, who are going to be in CA and Franz Ferdinand who are...somewhere. BOOO!!! I really don't want it to be someone SH*Tty, especially since we'll be seeing them more than once! Oh well, if they suck on Saturday, we can just pop by somewhere, get some drinks during happy hour, and show up for U2 at 9.

6.) I'd say your main concern w/ Lennon would be whether or not it'll still be open in October! Sounds like $25 rush is ridiculously easy to get too. I'm all for that!

7.) I tend not to like the Sweet Charity-esque shows, but I really liked it. Denis O'Hare was a riot (though it didn't seem like that much of a stretch coming in line after Take Me Out and Assassins)...very cool that you gave him his Canadian work visa!

Ummm....yeah, I don't have anything of my own to add for now.

Wow! So much to respond to!

I would LOVE to see Arcade Fire open for them in November. I'd be fine with Franz Ferdinand or The Killers as well, even if they don't look so probable. U who?

Tiff, I'm glad you had such an awesome day on set! That's really great. Now that that's over, what are you up to next? I hope the NYC trip works out for you.

And yes, I'm avoiding anything U2-concert related until November 21st (or 22nd if I manage to find a ticket for that day). The only thing I want to know is who's opening.

I'm back, kiddies! Sorry to ditch you, Mabs. Had to go out for a few hours. (Picked up my Dreamworks goodies and shopped a wee bit!)

1.) Didn't you send Ellie some CDs a few months ago or did that not transpire? Silly girl, that one. She's turning down the opportunity for free music and cheery presents? I hope she's still on for October!

2.) How was the leftover meatloaf? I've gotta admit, I don't eat as much of it as I would like. Joe Allen's Pub had a tasty meatloaf sandwich with sourdough bread and gravy, if you're looking to switch things up a bit!

3.) See, I think that since you're seeing so many of the shows in NYC, it's almost better for you to follow the setlists because you're bound to hear at least a few of the songs you're anticipating the most! It's okay though - for the shows we're watching, I'll follow the set lists and you don't have to, so when we're there, I'll be anticipating something and you'll be pleasantly surprised, so we'll both be happy!

4.) Do you think we're still on for a swankified hotel room for my birthday night? U who? At the very least, we're going out for a VERY nice dinner, oui?

5.) I'm game for happy hour and then turning up sauced to U2! I guess Scissor Sisters aren't still on the table? U who?

6.) Is the Lennon rush a student one or what?

7. #1, when are you back in the States?

Hey Tiff!

My ass is totally grass!!! I committed a cardinal sin of *cough* aquiring funds for footwear *cough* something I swore I'd never do, but I've got that damn Rolling Stones ticket to pay for! So, now I'm having some technical difficulties, and I'm freaking out!!! I'm trying for the third time to get a good copy. No dice.

Hmmm...

Back to the numbers (it's so much more organized!)

1.) Nope, (sm)Ellie politely declined my offer. Pfft. Whatever! U who?...speaking of care packages...I totally still owe groupie one, and I've got yours just sitting downstairs. I wanted to copy a couple of CDs for you, but the friend I'm living w/ has this machine that only uses Music CDRs, and they're kind of pricey, so I've been dragging my feet on that. I need to get my act together though!

2.) Opted not to have the leftover meatloaf...tomorrow, I suppose. I'm sure it'll be just peachy. How could it not be w/ leftover (Pa)scalloped potatoes?!?!

3.) I figure w/ 5 shows in that week in NYC there's not really going to be much rhyme or reason in predicting the setlists (other than the first show, maybe) so if they'd been playing, say Bad and Gloria at all the second shows like they did on the first leg, I'd be sitting there waiting for them the whole show on Sat, and I'd be crushed if they didn't play 'em. I must hear Bad!!! AAARRRGGG!!! I've got a lenghty list of "must hear" songs that've been played thus far. Skip this next bit, Elph!

I really want to hear the following: Bad, Gloria, Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, New Year's Day, All I Want Is You, Until the End of the World, With or Without You, Miss Sarajevo, Party Girl and (even though I've heard them in Brooklyn, so they're slightly less "must hear" since I've already heard them once) I Will Follow and Out of Control. That's a hell of a lot of songs that have all been played at least a couple of times...Hell, I want to hear everything!...I can't believe they've replaced Running to Stand Still w/ Miss Sarajevo! I'd like to hear that once, but that better not be a fixture on the 3rd leg!

Basically, I'm just being spoiled and I want to hear EVERYTHING!!!

4.) Tis up to you on the swankified hotel. Are you going to have enough cash? Let's get you on the plane first! Also, do we have any semblance of a tally of who's (potentially, theoretically) going to be joining us that weekend? How many people who could (potentially, theoretically) chip in for a fancy shmancy room?? I'd LOVE to have the cash to treat you to it for your BDay (well, our Bdays) but alas...w/ PU's swiping of my grant, etc. That's not in the cards. U who?

5.) If there's a quasi-decent opener, I'm all for going, but if it's Kings of Leon Part II, I have zero desire to sit through it twice. There are too many places that have deals on drinks...some place has $1 mararita Mondays! That's the definite plan B, in case of crap opener!

6.) Lennon is student rush, I think...2/ID, so I'd have us covered. I think it's in the front row, and I've heard the view is great, and they're easy to get.

7.) I think Elphie comes back November 20th? 19th or 20th? Correct me if I'm wrong, m'dear!'

Oh, and Tiff, did you get fun goodies from Dreamworks?!?!?

I know!! I've crossed that naughty, naughty threshold! Eeep!

Elphie, we're going to miss you that weekend!!! I'll take lots of pictures, I promise...and if I could call you, I would. *sigh*

I've read some people theorizing that they may add a couple of dates in NJ on December 1-2...I know it's no MSG, but if that did happen to pan out, it may be an option too (so you didn't have to count on 11/22).

Bed-hopping, Tiff?!? Hmmm, you were going to get that swankified hotel...Pass along an invite to M. Clayton, perhaps?? I know you had your moment at SeattleII!...Speaking of Adam, to quelch your frantic scheming, does he strike any of you as...maybe battin' for the other team? Who is this mysterious "Susie" who no one has really ever seen...and Naomi Campbell was totally just in there to throw us off. Have either of you seen the making of The Unforgettable Fire video (it's a bonus on the Slane DVD, but I think it's probably been aired in its own right elsewhere too)...I dunno???

Hm...that's an interesting theory about Adam. I never thought about it before, and I haven't seen that video. I'll keep the theory in mind now, though. Interesting. U who?

I'm missing bed-hopping, too?! That just makes me even more depressed!

Let me know if you hear anything else about added NJ dates. Now I'm not even so sure I'll try for the second MSG date because I'm going through money pretty quickly here (groceries, electricity, etc. are expensive!). And I plan on catching up on a lot of theatre when I get back. So we'll see! I would definitely be tempted to buy a NJ ticket, though, especially if it would mean I wouldn't have to stand outside waiting at the box office that day.

Arg, Elphie! Why'd ya have to go to New Zealand?!?!?!

There's this 2 day music fest on Staten Island on Oct. 1-2 w/ The Killers, Interpol, Oasis, Doves, The Redwalls (my band from that Housing Works benefit) and bunches of others! I'd be tempted to go, but I'd have to go solo, and I really don't want to (no one else would pony up the cash to go...though really, for two days, and a dozen or so artists...I actually put all my info in for 1 ticket to day one w/ The Killers, but deleted it all...it ended up being $69 w/ all the damn fees (almost $15) and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It wouldn't be any fun to go by myself (and I can't blame my friends for not wanting to spend $70 for the concert...geez, the face for 2 night package was only $30 more (before fees).

Dammit!!! Why couldn't The Killers have played somewhere other than Long Island for their NYC stint (that's another one that goes from being a $35 ticket to $60 by the time you pay for fees, subway, and LIRR, etc). I like them a lot, but I can't see paying as much to see them as I paid to see U2 or The Rolling Stones! Arg!!!

*drippy eyes* W-W-Why only Elphie? I like The Killers and Oasis too-oo-oo...(so much so that I'm trying to come up with enough dough to see them in Vancouver in September!)...*bawls*

Oh, and I'm contemplating seeing Destiny's Child in Vancouver. Don't judge - I'm not a huge fan (although I like Beyonce's style and solo stuff...*ducks*), but it's the last stop on their tour, and the last performance they're doing, so it seems like it'll be a pretty momentous occasion. Too bad the cheapest tickets are $70 to have the same view we're getting of U2 in NYC...

And what's this about my boy--er, man-- Adam with NAOMI CAMPBELL? I can't respect the man who shares his phone-throwing ladies with Usher!

Naomi Campbell, British super model who was the first Black to grace the covers of the British and French editions of Vogue fashion magazine, announced recently she'll exchange wedding vows with Irish rocker Adam Clayton of the band U2.
The 23-year-old cover girl said he proposed over the telephone while she was in New York and he was in England and according to news accounts she has been flashing a dazzling engagement ring.
Wheels for the love match were set into motion when music-meister Quincy Jones sent Campbell a newspaper clipping of an interview with Clayton, who is 33.
In the interview, when asked if there was anything in the world that he desired but didn't have, he responded: a date with Naomi Campbell. While she was flattered, Campbell thought nothing else of it until she bumped into Clayton on a flight to the Grammy ceremonies in Los Angeles earlier this year.

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)
