Just a quickie (for real this time) because I have to run.
BUT:
1.
2.
3.
1....?!?!?!?
Good goin' there, Tiff!
P.S. Sorry bout the shoplifter! Sounds crazy!
ETA: But you've gotta act quick!!
FREE U2 DVD!
Yeah, you know...1, 2, 3, 1...all the cool kids are doing it! (Actually, I amputated 3+3+1 fingers, so now I can only count up to 3 before I have to re-start.)
Bugger! It doesn't pay off to sleep in and miss your post! By the time I checked the link, only a Phoenix audio was left (which I grabbed), and when I left for 2 hours, a Stockholm ZooTV DVD was back up for grabs, and I missed that too.
Tiff, don't feel bad, I missed everything. At least you got audio!
And you seem to have been influenced by U2's strange numbering system (uno, dos, tres, catorce). Except you went for 1 instead of 14 (catorce is 14, right?).
Sounds like you had a fun day attempting to fight crime! Who needs Robin Williams and a bear when you have shoplifters to chase?!
Yeah, I was almost like a Charlie's Angel. Except for the thin, fit and attractive part. Oh yeah, and the whole actually-catching-the-bad-guy thing.
]
Would you ladies like the audio once I receive it in Sept?
Sorry you guys missed out on the DVDs. Elphie, did you see that the person getting rid of the stuff said that he'd keep you and the person who posted after you in mind if he came across anything else he was looking to get rid of? So maybe you'll get something yet!
Tiff, I've still gotta get my act together w/ your DVDs. I've only got a couple weeks left w/ direct access to the burner, so I'll get it together. Promise! I think I'm going to have the house to myself this weekend, so I think I'll just go hog wild and makes as many copies for the gang as possible.
Oh, and Tiff, thanks for the offer on Phoenix, but I think I have it *blush* I have acquired more than I'll ever have time to listen to this summer. Put the shows you've got on U2tours.com and that'll get you more trades than you'd ever want in a hurry! I seriously don't want any more (well, audios at least) but I keep getting e-mails. Two more in the last week or so. I suppose I could just say that I'm not interested in a trade, but I feel bad when someone writes saying "OMG, I've been looking for X for so long!" (Cue violins...woe is me! )
Guess that's about it for now. I've got an interview at Jujamcn Theatres this afternoon. I didn't get Newline, but they said they'd keep my resume on file for future reference (I'm sure they say that to everyone though). I think I"m officially freaked out that if I can't get an internship, WTF am I going to do in a few months when I graduate?!?!?!?! AHHHHH!!!! HELP ME!!!
Talk to you ladies later!
ETA: I'm rather pissed off that tix for Franz Ferdinand at The Theater at MSG are going to be $40 when most of their other concerts are going for $26. What gives?!?!? That's going to end up being as much as my U2 ticket w/ service fees. There's something kind of wrong w/ that, dontcha think?! I know I've been doing a lot of bitching about concert tix prices, but come on!
On a happier note...less than 2 weeks before I go home for a week before shipping myself back to school! I'm so excited. I want a steak really, really bad!!! I love the friend I'm living w/ but her food habits don't exactly mesh w/ mine. I just want to go home and get some good food, then go back to school and cook my own food! Hooray!! It's like going to someone else's house for Thanksgiving for Christmas one year, and they just do everything ass backwards...only for 3 months.
I definitely understand being excited about going home, mabs. Our cooking situation here is a new experience for me that makes me appreciate my mom's cooking, and even my own cooking! We each cook once a week, which means I'm subjected to some pretty interesting dishes that people throw together.
Are you getting tickets to Franz Ferdinand? Sounds like the ticket situation for The Killers; everywhere else they cost between $15-$25, but for Central Park they cost about $45 including fees. $40+ does seem like a lot for Franz Ferdinand. If only they would agree to open for U2's 3d leg.
Good luck at your interview! At least you're getting lots of interviewing experience, right? I'm guessing (and hoping) that it gets easier over time. And when you say "in a few months when I graduate," that doesn't mean you're graduating in a few months, right? Do you have until May, or are you graduating early? And don't worry, you'll find something!
Can you remove your list from U2tours so you don't get any more responses?
Tiff, thanks for the offer, but I'll pass on the Phoenix audio. Although my collection is miserable compared to mabel's, I don't need any more audio boots unless they're really unique ones.
I have a test tomorrow in The Music Industry. It's been a busy week; I have that test and a project and an essay due. I haven't started studying yet because I've been working on the other stuff, but I'm actually excited about studying! I love being tested on fun stuff like what a manager does and scheduling a tour. Aren't I pathetic?
cape cod! but know ive started high school

Hi guys! Sorry I've neglected my U2 thread duties of late, but I'm here now...anybody?
Ellie! I was afraid you'd deserted us for good! I'm guessing you're gone by now, but it's great to hear that you're still alive!

Wait, I'm here again!
The place hasn't been the same without me, right? Right?
Right! Trust me, we were all miserable without getting to see that lovely avatar every day.

Hmm...maybe I should change it. Or perhaps another giant Celine pic - you've missed them too, I take it?
Ooh, that's much better!
Of course I missed the giant Celine pics, but I won't trouble you by making you post another one. All the old ones are firmly and lovingly implanted in my mind forever.
Hey love! I'm only here for, like, 3 minutes, and then I'm going out to chill with my ungrateful, self-centered, stupid, freeloading friends. Yay!...?
Ellie! The place certainly wasn't the same without you! Didja notice how many times I asked where you were? Will respond to your PM when I get home...there's much to talk about! I hope I can still go to NYC in October (it's looking dismal again because it turns out the F*CKing pharmacy doesn't allow us to book time off over the holidays, meaning I'll have to quit my job to go to the Caribbean/Florida, meaning I'll be strapped for cash in the new year).
Talk quick! I'z gosta run soon!

Thanks for the welcome back, Whiff!
Carribean? Florida? No NYC?? But...but...what about meeting me? Surely nothing can compare with that? Surely it's all you've been living for in recent months?
I gotta side with Ellie on that one, Tiff (though not for the same reason). Surely U2 is more important than the beach!
It has been. Honestly, looking forward to NYC is what's been keeping me going for the last few months. (U2 at MSG! Wowee! Oh yeah, and you too, Ellie.) Really though, I'm desperate to go. I can get enough cash together for the flight, but not for anything else. (Thank god the tickets are already paid for.)

Well, what's stopping you, then!?Who needs money in NYC?! Not our wily, canny Tiff...surely she can wangle whatever she needs! You have to go! It's your (60th) birthday! Lennon! That chocolate cake you wanted! Fancy schmancy restaurants!
You're going and that's that.
By decree of Ellie.

I made a boo boo...double post! Oh well, I'll fill this space with a Celine pic later. Updated On: 8/16/05 at 11:49 PM
[looks lasciviously at dripping-with-daddy's-wealth Ellie...]
You know, I've got a PayPal account and a dangerous tongue...
(SH*T, gotta run. Was supposed to be at friend's place at 7:25...oops.)
Come back soon, Els!
Hooray, Ellie!!! Thanks for gracing us w/ your presence...figures I wasn't around last night to join in. After a summer of being lamely on-line every night, ya pick the one night I had a bit of a life to pop in!
Let's see...I think I'm going to pass on FF. I can't see spending $50 to see them. As much as I enjoy them, it's not really worth it for me at that price.
Elphie, when I said "I've only got a few months left," I was just being dramatic. I'm not graduating until May, but as fast as the last couple of years went, I feel like my days are numbered!
Oh, Jujamcn wen't reasonably well. Much, much better than New Line. We'll see. It sounded like it'd be an interesting internship. She was saying that they do such varied work, she couldn't really give me a straight up description of what the internship would entail...that you'd get out of it what you put into it, blah, blah, blah. And she did say that past interns had shadowed a stage manager for a show and watched a show from the orchestra pit. That'd be very, very cool!
Tiff, have you found any reasonable prices on flights? Hey, having the $$ to get your ass here is like 3/4 of the battle! We can put the fancy shmancy hotel on the back burner (as much fun as it would be, getting here is the main thing). Is bst still going to be in the city? I don't know when you were planning on coming, but do keep in mind taht I don't think I can put you up for a whole lot more than 3-4 days. That's kind of about it. Especially since I don't know if I've got a new Crazy to add to my mondo list of nutty roommates yet. But, we can eat in, and it looks like Lennon will be closed by October w/ those reviews, the tix are paid for...Did you sell your Vegas tix yet? That's get you a bit of extra $$, right?
Gotta run. I'm supposed to be leaving to work...ummm...now, but since my roomie is still in bed, I don't think that's going to happen (she treated me to The Pillowman last night! Whoo!) and after running around the city all day, I think we're both pretty wiped out.
Ooh, lucky! The Pillowman for, what, the third time?
That internship sounds really cool. All your possible internships sound great! I wish I had some of those opportunities. I want to look for a cool internship in the city next summer.
I just took my first test here, for the Music Industry. It was hard!
I know! I can't believe I went to The Pillowman yet again...and I'm going to try for the closing show too! *blush* I can't help it! There isn't much else of interest playing, and I love this show (especially the performances!) My friend surprised me w/ tix. We were planning on getting rush tix, and I left her in line while I went to get something to eat (all I'd had was a piece of toast and it was like 2pm!) and by the time I was heading back, she bought tix (to make up for the CSN debacle). It was very sweet of her, though I did feel bad that she spent the extra $$. I really didn't have any qualms about waiting in line. It was raining out, and I had a book/my dellPod. Oh well, no complaints!...*Spoilers*....Though, I couldn't believe it! Someone's cell phone went off just as Billy was getting up from killing Michal! He just sat there and didn't move or say anything for what felt like ages longer than he did before. I think he was really pissed.....*/Spoilers*
Do you think the test went okay though, even though it was really hard! Keep us posted! You're a smark cookie, elphie! I'm sure you did fine. Was that your first test this semester?
It's day three without carbs (well, I just fell off the wagon this morning), so the lack-of-carb-induced irritability plus the shock to my system and self-loathing has me feeling extremely vicious right this moment. I haven't had a cigarette for 8 days and I'm I can't even get any F*CKing support on the Weight Watchers thread. I posted begging for some supportive words, and two people who wrote afterwards totally glazed over me.
Having said that, let's change the subject.
#1! What questions were on your test? It sounds like such an interesting course. Do you think you'll want to pursue something in that industry as a career now?
Mabs, yeah, $50 for FF seems a bit excessive. Save it for some nifty U2 gear at the concert! (God knows $50 won't go too far there! )
When are you going to hear back to Jujamcn? Would you be getting a stipend for the internship, do you think? At the very least, it sounds like you'll have some really interesting responsibilities!
Billy kills Michael?! (Okay, that means nothing to me and I likely won't be seeing the play unless it's open in October.)
I've found numbering is so much easier, so I'm sticking to that!
1.) I figured I'd be polite and put the spoiler warning in there just in case...It seems wrong to post something about someone dying/being killed w/o putting a warning on there! You never know, Ellie or C-Q-Taboo might see it...which'd make it kind of a moot point, since I'm talking about it now. Aaaanyway, a cell went off at an inopportune moment. It was tres annoying, and people who let their cell phones go off at a play should be publicly beaten!!
2.) I'm sorry you didn't get any support on the WW thread. You can vent here all you'd like, Tiff! Have you tried WW? It worked really well for my mom, and I joined her for a bit before shipping off to college. I found it to be much easier than other diets. I definitely couldn't do Atkins, so any day you can stay faithful to the Doc, I tip my hat to thee! I just love bread too much! And Atkins and quitting smoking! You go, Tiff! It's totally worth it. Keep it up! I'm sure a few little slip ups here and there are ok. Just keep plugging away!
3.) I'm supposed to hear from Jujamcn w/in the next couple of weeks. The woman conducting the interview said she was getting married in 2 1/2 weeks and she wanted to have the intern situation officially sorted out by the time she leaves.
ETA: Yeah, my order of responses was totally off, so that kind of defeats the purpose of being numerically organized. Whatever.
