I'm going to the closing show, but I'm surprised that they didn't try to hang on to close on Lennon's birthday. Maybe they don't go for quasi-symbolic stuff like that though.
OMG!!! AHAHAHAHA!!! I was watching the Sox game, and it was the bottom of the 10th w/ bases loaded, w/ Manny Ramirez up (who's been hitting like SH*T) so I was saying PLEASE HIT HIM!!! And what did Yabu, the guy on the A's they brought in just for Manny, do? He hit him, and we won!!! YAY!!!
I sure hope they're still around in October! I don't know which airline they'd move me to if they collapse. Maybe it'll still be business as usual. After all, 3 out of 7 of America's other present airliners are under bankruptcy protection, and they're still operating, right? (United, US Airways and...American?) God, I REALLY wanted that Cathay Flight. Only $50 more and a fabulous itinerary.
Yeah, I'm not too surprised about Lennon either. Its announcement even made news in Vancouver! (And cited Yoko's input as being the reason for its downfall.)
Oh right, Spamalot SRO. I'm still so totally on that. I've got the OBCR and Sara sounds amazing! (And Alan's supposed to be good too, right? I saw him briefly on Firefly DVDs a few days ago.)
Why did Yabu hit Manny?? Seems sort of unsportmanlike. Bertuzzi hits Moore and he gets criminal charges laid again him, and this Yabu guy hits Manny and you guys win? WTF?
Yabu struck Manny in the elbow w/ the ball...because he's a terrible pitcher.
Yeah, I think there are several airlines that are bankrupt that are still up and running. I would think that you'll be fine, Tiff.
Spamalot was a lot of fun, and Sara was great (though good luck actually catching her...I'm 2 for 2 though, so I guess you never know) and I've hear wonderful things about Alan. I LOVE him in 28 Days! "My package!"
You're allowed to just hit a guy in the elbow with the ball? Wait, but if Manny's the pitcher, who's Yabu and in what circumstance did he hit him? (Can you tell I don't follow baseball at all? Next question, "Where's the goalie?")
*sigh* Manny's the Red Sox (goofy, yet kind of loveable) left fielder, who is one of the best hitters in baseball, but has been doing really bad. Yobu is a pitcher for the A's who they brought in just for Manny, accidentally hit Manny in the elbow, and since the bases were loaded, we won by default, as the runners had to advance. I just thought it was funny, because I totally called it before they brought the new pitcher in.
So yeah. That's that!
Oh, and I looked up Nobu, and it looks like they don't open until after 5 on Sunday, so I guess lunch would be out there.
Okay, so we LIKE the Red Soxs? And Manny is a Red Sox. (Sock?) And who are the A's? Okay, so Yobu was brought in to accidentally hit Manny in the elbow, which CAUSED you guys to win by default? So why did the A's bring Yobu in?
(Man, you Yanks have such complicated sports...who'd'a thunk your cultural icons are people who choke on pretzels and star in Dukes of Hazzard and grainy sex videos??)
Yeah, that's pretty much it...And y'all from Canadia have Celine. End of story.
BTW, Keane are on Leno tonight. Figured you'd want to get your VCR ready!
Yeah but with Celine, we...uh...well, she...uh...
I got nothin'. You guys can keep her.
Thanks for the reminder. Actually, perhaps I will catch them, and try to psyche myself up for 3 Keane performances! (Really, I'd feel like a major bitch if I ditched you, even if it was to get drunk with Ellie.)
If Ellie doesn't want to go, we don't have to go on Saturday. I don't have to go to all 3. I just don't want to skip all 3 either.
Oh, for sure. And I don't want to skip all three either - if I sat through KOL sober, I'm sure I can sit through at least one K***e performance. (Didja notice I didn't censored out the name in my other post? Didja?)
If Ellie's dead set on not seeing K***e on Saturday, do we stick with her and her scary Yaley friends, or go see them open anyway?
Oh, and check out the BWW Happy Hour thread. We're thinking brunch at Balthazar. What say you? (It's sort of affordable too!)
Well, if we're going to skip one Keane outing anyway (and I'm sure you don't want to go to all 3) why not just skip Saturday, since Ellie doesn't want to see them? I'm assuming her Yaley friends also share in her distaste for the hobbit lad??
I think I'm probably going to have to pick lunch or dinner on Sunday. I really hate to cry poor mouth when you've got to pay for the flight and all that, and I'm already here, buuuut I am kind of on a generic sort of budget that I've set for myself, and if we're doing the hotel, a quasi-expensive meal (and I'm sure we'll be eating out quite a bit during the week, even if it is in generally cheap-ish places) a show or two, drinks, etc. I've got to do nips and tucks somewhere.
<----A party pooper.
Sorry...I'm sure you've a slew of other people that you've got to cover your bases w/ so...yeah. I don't know.
It's okay, I understand. I can't force you to spend all your money just because I'm in town! (After all, you still need to save up for your trip to Vancouver so I can reciprocate the generousity!) Well, Rath will be at lunch, which should be fun, but dinner will probably be a blast too, and we'll have (Payard?) cake and drinks at night. So I'd choose dinner, if I were you.
Can I really skip the opening act for my very first U2 show at Madison Square Garden? Oh, what a decision. I think Ellie's Yaley friends would scare me.
Well, I haven't scoured my syllabi yet, but I'd imagine I might end up needing part of Sunday to get some work done anyway, especially if a regular internship ends up working out. I'd imagine we'll be hanging around w/ Ellie and the crew on Saturday, then U2 at night, and then if we do dinner and the hotel on Sunday, and I've got class/work every day during the week but Thursday (holiday) in addition to running around at night (at least a few of the nights) I'd imagine I'll need some time to get work done, sadly.
Also, assuming we want to skip a Keane gig, I'd imagine Saturday would be the night to skip (Ellie's distaste or not). I'd want to go Monday, since those are the best seats we have, and I guess I'd want to experience the glory that is MSGV in its entirety...and I know you don't care for them, so I wouldn't drag you to all 3...I don't love them myself, but if I were going on my own, I'd probably go to all 3, but it certainly won't tear me apart by any means to skip one.
That's cool, no worries. Thursday's a holiday? And you have Fridays off, right? I can't really start applying for interviews until maybe next week or the week after, but hopefully my 10/10-10/14 will be fairly busy, aside for the evenings. I'm absolutely terrified of the prospect of coming home empty-handed, with nary a prospective employer's handshake to cite to the parents.
I'm game for seeing K***e on Monday, since those are the best seats we have. What seats do we have on 10/14, anyway? Is it okay if I pay you back for it when I get there? (Can you believe the time has come when I can say that and it's actually in the foreseeable future??)
1 more hour and 40 minutes until Keane should be performing. *propping eyelids open* Did you watch the east coast airing?
Last post for the night...I don't have class on Friday, but I may have to intern then. I love how I say that like it's likely I'll get ABC/Buena Vista/ItAS, but for once, I'm trying to be optimistic. Good luck on the interview front!!! Hopefully you'll be able to be seen at at least one place.
I did see Keane on Leno. I thought they were better at Live8, but then again, I was still weirded out by the Jackass guys (wait, were they from Jackass or that other show that does pretty much the same thing on MTV??) Whatever, they were seriously F*CKed up!
The seats for 10/14 are in 321 (directly behind the stage). I was surprised to see that there really isn't much separation between the 200 and 300 sections, as far as I could see. 100 was definitely its own lower section, and 400 was its own higher section, but 200 and 300 just kind of appeared to meld together...No prob paying me back when you get here...or that could just be your birthday preasent...OR we could be lame and go to a show and buy each other's tix for the other's birthday. "Here Tiff, I bought you a Spamalot ticket for your birthday." "Why Tiff, a ticket to Spamalot, you shouldn't have!"

<--- Whee!
Enough with the K***e talk!!
Really though, don't arrange your plans around ickle old me - if you want to see them on Saturday, that's fine! I shall be outside removing my eardrums, however. And my "Yaley" friends are NOT scary, I'll have you know.
Oh, except for Hannibal.
It's really no big deal, Ellie. Since Tiff doesn't care for them much anyway, I didn't intend on seeing them at all 3 shows, so why not skip Saturday?
Anyway, THREE WEEKS FROM TODAY!!! WHOOOO!!! I may just have to resurrect that picture of Bono w/ his ass haning out on the boat!
ETA: Ellie, what's up w/ you on Sunday? Are you staying in the city for the shindig at the rattrap hotel?
EATA: Whoo! I just got an email...I got Theater Talk! Yay! I guess we'll see what happens on Monday w/ ABC/Buena Vista. Considering Theater Talk would only be a sporadic off/off-off-Broadway show and a brief review, I'd imagine if I was offered the other internship, I could do that as well. It'll still be nice to have a writing cred on my resume. YAY!!
YAY for TheaterTalk! That's great!
And here's that picture, just for you.
(I hope I'm allowed to post it here)
ETA: okay, it's gone now.

AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
I give it 20 minutes! Then again, I doubt many other people look at this thread besides us...I was talking about the picture I used to have as my avatar, not that w/ Bono's ass LITERALLY hanging out at the beach, but twas indeed good for a laugh! Thanks, Elph!!!
Oh, heehee. Well, maybe I'll remove it now that you've seen it.
Well, I wouldn't want you to get yelld at for posting pale Irish asses on BWW! Thanks though. I've seen that pop up a couple of times, and it's like a train wreck. I can't help but look. So embarrassing, and yet so funny.
YAY MABEL!! Congratulations!! When do you start? Was this an internship or a job? Any pay or stipend? Looks like being nice to certain tabloid vultures paid off! (PS. I forgot to check the NY Post - any mentions of Pacino's love affair with college girls?)
Aww, I missed a photo of a naked Irish ass? Where's Colin Farrell when you need him? (Put it up, again, #1, when we're both online!)
I caught that Leno show a couple of days ago. Okay, first of all, those Jackass guys are F*CKED IN THE HEAD. Talk about sadomasochism! At what point does sticking leeches down your briefs seem fun? And then their faces contort in pain, and I'm thinking, "No SH*T, Sherlock! And this should impress me...why?"
Second, K***e......yeah. Drinksies for us on Saturday! (But we'll see Keane on Monday and Friday, mmkay?)
Next time we're both online I'll post it just for you, Tiff.
Mabs, did you catch The Pillowman's final performance today and shed a few tears for me?
Oh, and did anyone see today's New York Times magazine? My mom's saving it for me; apparently Bono's on the cover and there's a long article about him.
ETA: Here's the article. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/18/magazine/18bono.html

FUUUUUUUUCK! I forgot to buy it! Dammit!
I did catch the Pillowman's final show. I got up at 6:30, threw my stuff together, got out of the door at 10 to 7, had more bad subway luck, got to the theatre around 7:30...all the rush seats were accounted for already (people got there at 1am) and I ended up getting the 2nd to last SRO spot, due to some shady dealings. This guy 3 people in front of me was there by himself almost the whole time, then at like 10:30 (the BO opened at noon, because it's Sunday) these two chicks and another guy showed up at his little yoga mat, and we kind of hemmed and hawed (is that right? hemmed and hawed?) over what to say about it, if anything. Finally, at about quarter of 12, we got together and were like, "What the hell do you think you're doing? We've been here since 6/6:30/7/9am etc, and you can't just cut us" but they did anyway. And I ended up getting the 2nd to last ticket. The guy behind me had to go w/o his friend (felt really bad for her) and felt even worse for the girl behind him how was in tears because she really should have been in...actually, she ended up buying a full price ticket from someone on the street 5 minutes after it started. I was so pissed of at those bitches that cut the line. First of all, it was bogus to be a cutter, 2nd, they were trying to "justify" it by saying they'd been turned away all week trying for tix and asked everyone in line how many times they'd already seen it, since they hadn't yet (excuse me, but if it was that important for you to get in, you should have toddled your little asses up there w/ your friend at 5am, not slept in and showed up at 10:30...I don't care if I've seen it a couple of times before, it was important to me to see the last show and I got there early, on 5 hours sleep, to wait in line for another 4 1/2 hours, to stand for another 3...and it was worth every penny!) Oh, then they had the nerve (because I was standing next to them) to be complaining about not having seats, and saying "this better be a damn good show after all this"...after all what? After the whole hour and a half you had to wait when some people were there for 11 hours?!?!?
Anyway, the show was very good. Billy gave Michael Stuhlbarg a sweet little kiss on the forehead at the end of Act I...so touching! The audience was very into it, and Goldblum was at the top of his game! I staged-doored it afterwards (kicking my self for not buying a script to bring, because) Martin McDonagh was there signing...got my Playbill signed though! Goldblum was hillarious (chatting on the phone w/ some guys mother and patiently listening to some chick that was bawling her eyes out...wish I knew what the deal was!) Billy was a doll, patiently returning (multiple times) to pose as I struggled to take a picture w/ the girl next to me...oh and I reminded him of his little Ui antics w/ Sterling Brown and he had a little chuckle over that *pats self on back*...Michael Stuhlbarg was a sweetheart, meticulously signing everyone's Playbills, and graciously listening to everyone's kind words. He's so cute! I just love him! (His "itchy ass" bit was a gem!) Oh, and the first nut from the line, that got there at 1am, got the pillow he slept on signed by Crudup, Goldblum, and Stuhlbarg...kinda cool.
Guess that's about it...HOOOORAAAAY for Felicity Huffman winning Best Actress in a Comedy at the Emmys!!! YAY!!!!
