Isn't it a retarded name? I don't know if it's LeShaun, Leshan, Leeshan, Leeshaun, or what. But he's an actor I met on The Cleaner. He's Cedric The Entertainer's stand-in (luckily he doesn't look like Cedric, aside from being black). I have a feeling he's just a horndog and a player, but I really need to get some play. Really.

An idea!!
If my biggest grief is rushing back from NYC to Seattle (because I don't want to leave so early in the morning, I'll be exhausted, hauling all my shopping, having to wait in the airport for 3 hours and then bussing back to Vancouver), why don't I buy a one-way ticket from Seattle to New York, and then a one-way ticket from New York to Vancouver? Huh? Huh??
Broadway Legend Joined: 9/20/04
One way shuttle = US$30 (=C$35)
Seattle to New York - C$158
New York to Vancouver - C$270
= C$463
If I did roundtrip from Seattle plus shuttle,
Seattle shuttle RT: C$64
Seattle-New York RT: C$309
= C$373
So a $90 difference, but I'll still get a full morning and part of the afternoon in NYC on 10/15!
I need a vote. What do you guys think? Roundtrip to Seattle, or one-way/one-way?

One-way/one-way sounds good to me!
A compromise between your two original options.
Okay good. I'll pay for the flight after lunch then.
Or maybe I should do it now before those goddamn prices go up.
Or maybe I should wait.
Or maybe...
(See, this is what made me lose it on the Bitches thread last night.)

Ack. If only it were a bit further away, timewise.

Yeah, the two one ways doesn't sound like a bad option. Definitely better than $900 and better than an added leg of extensive waiting...sounds like a go!

Booked yet?
The clock is ticking....
I don't like all this uncertainty!
Travelling is so stressful, isn't it? I'm sure all the hassle will be worth it, Tiff - hang in there!
On an unrelated note, I just found out Mia Farrow will be starring off-Broadway in "Fran's Bed" until October 9th. She is perhaps my favourite actress, and to see her on stage in the flesh would be incredible. Remember when I said I was thinking about coming over to the US in November? Do you think this show could possibly still be running, or are closing dates set in stone?
EDIT Just found out no extension is possible. Now I want to go to the October U2 shows too! I'm only kidding - partly, anyway.

Tiff, I hope you went ahead and booked the one-way/one-way deal. If you didn't and if the prices skyrocket before you do, you won't be getting any sympathy here!
Sorry that show won't still be running in November, Jez. But you should still try to come in November! There'll be plenty to see then. Even if you won't get to see your favorite actress.
*collapse*
What happened, Tiff?! Did ya get everything sorted out?
Check out the Bitches thread. I think Mabel and Ellie are gonna be upset.
You're right, Ellie's definitely gonna be pissed.
Nothing a little spooning in her hotel room won't fix!
Just adding a nice BUMP to celebrate the beginning of the 3d leg!
(and I'll say it again: please, if anyone is following setlists, don't post spoilers here without sufficient warning, because some of us are staying away from setlists!)
Yep, I'm officially steering clear of setlists as well for the 3rd leg!
I just got back from Jack Johnson in Central Park. We ended up sitting on benches on the side of the stage so we couldn't see anything and it was totally dark. The people that were out sitting on the lawn could have seen the screen, I think and the lights, but I figured having a bench seat w/ a back outweighed the lights. The sound was actually pretty damn good too! He played for 2 hours; twas excellent. I'm going to try my damndest to get up to catch Arcade Fire on Thursday, but I have a night class and last week, my professor said that this week would probably be one of the only weeks we stay for the whole class. Booooo!!! I'll see what I can do though.
SON OF A BIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTCCCCCCHHHHHHH!!!! Apparently I can't go on to interference at all, because people posted song titles played in the titles of threads. Bastards. I was just popping in to the general tour discussion to see if there was any news on opening acts. Anyway, I might as well share, with spoiler space of course. Some good, some bad. UGH!!! Good thing we're going soon, Tiff/Ellie!
So, here's the deal, I popped onto interference this morning and saw a thread titled, "IALW, FAST CARS (!!!!AHHHH!!!!...that's my own) and now Discotheque" (Sorry, Tiff) Son of a bitch! Now that I know they played Fast Cars, we'd better hear it! That's one of the only songs I picked out that I wanted to hear before the tour started. PLEEEEAAAASE! I just want to hear it once! Anyway, BOOM-CHA, baby!
Tis all. Gotta run to class...gonna be late. And I guess I'll be avoiding interference altogether for the next couple of weeks. No problems there. I think I've got enough crap to keep myself amused. Bye all!
I just had the most mortifying experience on The Cleaner set yesterday. I sort of wanted to die, and have now taken up smoking again. (Don't worry, Mabel, I won't be infecting your dorm - I only smoke on set now.) So my interest in the film industry has always been primarily acting (until the last few years, when I got realistic and focussed more on the behind-the-scenes stuff), and we were working on a 2nd unit stunt scene where two FBI goons chase Lucy and Cedric, and eventually she slams on the breaks, spins around a corner, and the goons jump on the roof. Lucy wasn't on set yesterday but they needed someone with similar hands to be her hand double for a shot where she's shifting gears and shooting a gun through the roof, and they asked me. (Me being the only Chinese female on the set, and around the same height as her.)
Suddenly, the cast and crew is grabbing my right hand, and criticizing me on every single thing that's wrong with my fingers! As if I didn't already have a Hollywood-induced body-image complex, now I have to worry about my HANDS?? And they're talking about how my cuticles are puffy (I rockclimb!!), my fingers are too "thick" (and the knuckles are wider than the flesh in between! How could I lose weight in my FINGERS??) and that my chipped nail polish should be "illegal".
Anyway, so after checking with every other female on set, they were all, "Fine, I guess you have the best hands out of all of them." and I'm thrilled, not because I really wanted to be on camera at this point (although I would like the bragging rights of being Lucy Liu's hand double) but just to validate my existence after my hands were deemed to fat and unattractive to be hers. So they propped me in the car, told me to grasp the clutch, and to tuck my index finger underneath because "your index finger is gnarled, and no one wants to see a gnarled index finger on screen". (There is nothing wrong with my index finger except for mild puffiness around the cuticle.)
Then, with the crew gathering around and the camera getting ready, the DOP goes, "Actually, we're going to see part of Lucy's body, so we're going to need a costume." And I look at them dubiously, and they look at me dubiously, and finally the DOP huffs that this just isn't going to work and they'll have to re-schedule the scene for another time or call in a "professional photo double" stat.
And thus, yesterday will be named The Day I Was Too Fat To Be Lucy Liu's Hand Double.
To be fair, I was a good sport (in public) and joked as I dragged my fat ass out of the car to give me two more months on Atkins, and I'm all over it...they laughed consolingly and called in a photo double (who's about 90 pounds and had no problem fitting into Lucy's size 2 costume). The wardrobe lady tried to tell me that at size 6-8, I'm not "fat", just "too fat for Hollywood". Well, I knew that, but surely they had known about my problematically immense girth BEFORE propping me in the car and having the crew of 155 watching me blow the shot before filming even started??
In other news,
1a. So I had trusted my travel agent when she said before that it was a next-to-nothing chance that the Cathay Pacific flight price would drop from $942 back to $513. Her exact words were "it's not going to happen. It just won't." Well, it did. This morning. To be fair though, now I've got some fun plans with DayDreamer while I'm in Seattle for the evening, and my only real concern was having to rush to catch my shuttle from Seattle to Vancouver, and I saved $110 by doing one-way/one-way, so I suppose I ended up with a better deal, right?
1b. I also called my travel agency a couple of days before that regarding the lack of seat reservations. The woman told me that it would be assigned upon check-in, but that if I wasn't one of the first people to check in, I would be the first one "systematically bumped" if it was over-booked, and I would need to pay an extra $22 to book a ticket directly through Air Canada. SH*Tty. Luckily I e-mailed my agent directly and she reserved me the seats I wanted at no extra charge, so NOW I'm okay!
2. Mabel, I didn't realize your RS/Alanis concert was so soon!! (My God, hasn't time flown?? Remember when you were talking about your 3 week blitz of concerts and it seemed so far away?) Sounds like an awesome show! I would've loved to see a plugged-in Alanis show, and the Stones, natch. Were your nosebleeds the same place we'll be in...(eeee) 3.5 weeks?
2. So are you catching Arcade Fire tomorrow? They're in Seattle the night before I'll be there, so I suppose I'll be msising it!
***U2 SPOILER ALERT!!***
3. Yay for IALW! Yay for you for Fast Cars! (I don't mind it, but it's not on my must-see list.) NAY NAY NAY FOR DISCOTHEQUE! It pains me that they limit themselves to around 22-24 songs per setlist, and that 4.2-4.5% of our concert could be sacrificed for that piece of crap! Surely, if they were going to revisit their dark days, they could do 'Staring At the Sun' instead?? ARGH.
4. In light of this, maybe I won't follow the setlists either, because I'd rather be un-pleasantly surprised than un-pleasantly anticipating the worst.
///END U2 SPOILER ALERT
5. Where's Ellie? No strangled moans of dread (or cheers of happiness) over my imminent arrival??
Tiff, I bet you are hotter than Lucy Liu. The size 2 girls do nothing for me.
Just a quickie while I take a break from reading. I think I've got some temporary reading disorder. Are 24 hour reading disorders going around? I've been reading painstakingly slow lately. I'll be toodling along and glance at the clock and proceed to freak out that I've only read x-# pages in the past hour!!! UGH!
Tiff, I have to say I'm soooo sorry that I found myself laughing at your Lucy Liu traumatic moment. Are you seriously a size 6? If so, I don't want to hear any more bitching from you...and that's an order! No real people are "Hollywood thin" and the vast majority of people would love to be "Hollywood fat." Seriously, there is nothing wrong being in the 6-8 club. I'm certainly a card-carrying member, and I'm sure regardless of whatever crazy diets or excercise I obsessed over, there wouldn't be much changing that...I can't believe they were so riduculous about that w/ you though. I'm sure they'd have a field day w/ me. *looks at hideously chipped nail polish and very sad state of cuticles* You wouldn't think it would be that big a chore for them to give you a little scrub or something. Geez!
Anyway, on to the U2 business (I don't know if you'll want to drop a couple more lines of space in there...Elphie might freak out!
I really like Fast Cars, and I don't know why, but in my head, I've decided that it'll sound really great live. I'm kind of eh on In a Little While. I like it, and it'll be cool to hear it, but I think once would be enough. And I'd actually kind of like to hear Discotheque. Once. No more than that. I have no need to hear it every time we go in October, but the thought of Bono prancing around to the Boom-Cha's is highly amusing to me. If only they'd all come out in their video garb!!! *sigh* Larry cracks me up so much in that video! I'd love to hear SatS and, on the "not going to happen front," Seconds. I just hope they shake it up at MSG. Considering they've added at least 3 new songs to the set...didn't look, so I don't know what they dropped (and don't tell me)...maybe that's an indication of good things to come. My big hope is to hear (just once) Fast Cars, Bad, and With or Without You (I know it's kind of old and tired, but I'd still like to hear it once)...and Gloria. I love Gloria. Too many!!!
Anyway, yeah, the Stones were great!! Alanis kicked some serious ass, as did my nosebleeds, surprisingly enough! They were directly opposite where we'll be on 10/8. We'll be on Edge's side, and I was on Adam's side last night. I was kind of freaked out at first, because they had this big scrim squared off around the drumkit/rest of the Stones' equipment, and these ridiculous Ameriquest banners. Oh, and how could I forget the Ameriquest zeppelin floating around?!?!? SOOOOOOOOO TACKY! Anyway, the seats were high, but for an open stage setup, really great location-wise. Definitely more side stage than rear stage. I was in 419 last night, so I'd imagine, 218 will be AMAZING for 10/10. We'll be a smidge more on the rear stage side, but I still don't think it'll be that bad w/ the open concept. I didn't bring my camera, so alas, no pix to offer...but it should be pretty damn good!
Arg! Mabs, I thought you were avoiding all things U2 until October! That's what I'm doing (until November). Anyway, you didn't leave enough space and didn't really warn me about a spoiler so I glimpsed Fast Cars. Oh well.
I've considered avoiding this thread until November because I suppose people should be allowed to talk about setlists and I can't get upset about that, but I don't think I could give it up. I have a feeling I'll be forced to stay away in mid-October, though.
I'm glad the concert was fun! Did you post a setlist here? (I may have scrolled through it in my attempt to avoid any U2 spoilers).
And be sure to report back on Arcade Fire (when's that again?)
Tiff, I'm sorry because I know you were humiliated, but that story was too funny. It's just an example of how insane how Hollywood can be, and if I were you I wouldn't let it get to me.
