You made Mommy leave us, Ellie! Just like when you made her and Daddy divorce and caused Nana to die! (RIP NanaRath, soon to be NanaWrath when she sees that.)

That's 'cos we ran over you, and you're following us home like a piece of roadkill stuck to the windscreen. Meh, maybe it'll improve your looks.

Did I tell you that last month a gas station attendant here was killed trying to stop a stolen car that was driving away without paying, got ran over and dragged underneath the car for 4 miles, alive the whole way? And the teenagers who were in the car kept going and ran away on foot. (Eventually they were caught.) The news showed clothing and body parts being peeled off the bottom of the car, and according to the kid in th passenger seat (who wasn't charged re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!), they could hear the man screaming the whole way and didn't think of stopping. The local news followed the bloody streak that was still there, extending for the 4 miles down the road.

Worse is the fact that some of the outlets actually found people on the street CRITICIZING the attendant and instead of showing sympathy, just condemning him for being stupid enough to put his life at risk for this, and instead of focussing on the young offenders, they were critical of the guy trying to help! Of course the media also forgets to mention how gas station supervisors usually make it a policy that any gas that goes unpaid for comes off of the shift attendant's cheque or that the attendant might have been trying to stop the driver because the kid was so evidently high on meth (which will likely be his defense in court).

And of course my dad had to make this about me by telling me how stupid I was to go after the crazy truck driver, saying it could've been me. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Wheee! U2 in May!!!

Groupie, did you pick that boot up from the $2 person on eBay? I'm supposed to be getting it from some guy I did a trade w/ eons ago (he was throwing it in for free for taking so long). I'm excited about getting that show. Seems like one of the better concerts, imho. I mean, the only performances thus far of Gloria and WoWY!!

I'm definitely not loving the fact that the setlists are seeming identical to one another lately (give or take one song). Seems like every few shows they'll rotate An Cat/ItH for soemthing else (and I guess the last show saw Zoo Station replaced by Original of the Species). I was hoping for some drastic variation from show to show. And I must say I'm not looking forward to going to BostonI nearly as much as the two NYC shows in August, since the general consensus seems to be, "if at all possible, avoid the first show in a city w/ multiple dates like the plague." Oh well! Theoretically then, I'll get one "Standard Issue" show and two that may be more shaken up. So it'll all even out!

*eyes darting around furtively, checking to see if child protective services has caught on yet*

Sorry Tiff, get back in dear.

No, I didn't let Ellie in and not you--she was clinging on to the luggage rack for miles before anyone noticed.

Groupie is sorry she left you hanging all night while she watched the Daily Show and went to bedre: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

(Ahem, that was a HORRIBLE story! Awful! Like that case in Texas w/o the hate crime component?)

Yep, Mabel I ordered from the guy on ebay--he was really responsive and e-mailed to confirm--they go out today and he said it was one of his better recordings. I'm PSYCHED! Yeah, it is kind of curious that they almost only switch out songs in the An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart slot....I would have loved to hear Original of the Species as well.

(Oh, and for the record, not *that* grown-up. Pushing 31.) re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Ew...Discotheque just came on. Yeah, I may have misspelled it, but it doesn't warrant me caring. Listening to Best Of right now, I just remembered how much I enjoyed some of their '90s stuff - Mysterious Ways...love it. (Is that the one that all the ladies and the odd kid are getting pulled up to dance with Bono?) And after a long hiatus, Staring At The Sun is sort of nostalgic but nice. And then there's Discotheque... *ears burning*

Mabs, which shows would you recommend I buy? Which ones do you have? Did the guy clarify if he's got all four shows or just one of each city?

You know what's funny - on Interference, a few people were actually defended the setlists, saying that they're the most varied out of all the recent tours U2 have done, and I'm thinking, "Whaaat?? I haven't been to a show yet but even I know that's a bunch of bollocks!" (That seems to be the sentiment of most of the people.) Changing up one or two songs per night is NOT a varied set list. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! Groupie, which # show were you at? I'd love to hear Gloria!

I can't believe they'd actually replace Zoo Station with ANYTHING! Did you see it at your show, Groupie? Was it multimedia camp crazy? That's one of the ones I'm looking forward to the most.

*climbs back into the car sans Ellie*

31? Wow, how's the view from the top of the hill? re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! (Well, for the record, you're not that much older than Mabel and me - you must have conceived me in your sexually liberal pre-pubescent days on the playground! Ellie on the other hand, is a confused 12-year-old boy...we just humour her once in a while so she doesn't feel left out, then give her a pacifier.)

I was at show#2 (The Gloria/WOWY show!!!!) We had Zoo Station as well. Honestly, it wasn't HUGE multi-media anything--by comparison to seeing them in '92, that is--but there is definitely VERY cool lighting design all the way around the ramp--it's lit up/bordered in different colors, the 70s-ish light curtains change color and sometimes display text. There are also these really cool kind of "lamp" fixtures that look almost Morrocan and beaded (but they're HUGE) that descend from the ceiling above the band on some songs. It's pretty pared down, but it's still cool....just not what you'd probably expect from that song? I have to remember more details that I haven't posted b/c I SUCK! (On that note--that weird stuff they do with Elevation actually seemed kind of cool in person?!) Yeah, hearing Gloria was pretty amazing!!

Oh, and I think I'm definitely not mommy--more along the lines of the trashy foster mom/older half-sibling who persuaded the court to let me take in all you brats so I can squander your support money. (a la White Oleander?) re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! (bwaahhahahahaha)

*hugs the Internet*
*hugs BWW*
*hugs fellow U2 nuts*

My internet was down all day yesterday. What a bitch! Well, doesn't look like I missed a whole hell of a lot here, but it was a pisser not being able to even check my e-mail (and I guess the printers were even all frigged in the computer labs at school...pity I didn't realize that to capitalize on the three papers I had due yesterday. Would have been a lovely excuse, but alas, the printer in my room was working just fine)

Hmmm...Tiff, I think I'd mentioned trying for San Diego I (March 2re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! or Anaheim 2 (April 2, maybe???). I'm supposed to be getting SD2 from the slowpoke guy in FL, and I got Anaheim 1 from eBay.

And yeah, I can't believe that there are people saying there's a lot of variation on the tour. It seems like even Elevation had more. They'd swap I Will Follow and Out of Control and at least one of the acoustic songs pretty much every single night. At least that's something. Though, I'd rather hear the regular An Cat show than a "shaken up" show w/ The Ocean. Sure, it'd be nice to hear, but it's little more than a snippet itself. IMHO, definitely not hefty enough to rotate in (in and of itself).

Guess that's it. Gotta go catch up on e-mails and other stuff I've missed out on over the past 24 hours (how sad is that?!?!?!)

Very sad, Mabel. Tragic, even. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

*should not be on BWW*

This is your first time seeing U2 too, isn't it, Mabel?
There are good points to no variation too, I think...imagine if they'd done one of your absolute favorite songs at one show, but not at the one you attended! You'd be fuming!
And you never know how things will shake about by the third leg anyway!

I know, isn't it tragic?!?!? I didn't know what to do w/ myself. It's a good thing Tuesday's my busy day!

It'll be my first full-fledged concert. I saw the November show under the Brooklyn Bridge (11 songs that ran about an hour). I hear ya w/ the "hey, they did_____at last night's show!! Why couldn't I have been there?!?!" I guess I'll settle for a slightly more varied (general) setlist for the 3rd leg. Nothing drastic, but one or two swapped out new songs and a couple of swapped out classics would be nice!

*Off to take a shower and then bitch at the people in the mail room for screwing up my mail yesterday* (My application for my job this summer was missing a letter saying I'd still be a student next year, so they sent the entire application back to NH, so my mom sent it over night, for $14 mind you(!), it arrived at the university at 10:16 am yesterday, and as of 5:30 last night was among the missing! It best be in my box waiting for me when I get down there!!!

Since I'm posting here, might as well say: Hooray for FINALLY getting the package of CDs from that guy in FL! And it only took 2 1/2 months! Oh well, I got some freebies, so no complaints!!!

*hugs thread and pats Mabel on the head* YAY for #1000! Elphie, when did you become a Legend?

Okay, that's all I wanted to say. Now I'll go and get caught up on what was actually said before.

Oh yeah, and Grownup, it's fine with me if you're the trailer trash older sister - means you and Ellie really are related.

Oh, I forgot to post this before...I guess VH1's airing an episode of All Access devoted to U2's launching of the Vertigo Tour. It's premiering tomorrow at 8, and being VH1, I'm sure they'll air it over and over again over the next week or so.

re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! If only I was going to be in the States this week. Maybe it'll be airing April 25 in the middle of the night when I'm in my hotel room in Seattle?

Mabel, I'll look around for SD I and Anaheim II. Were the setlists any better than SDII and Anaheim I? I just want them for my collection (esp. SD I).

Oh, Mabel, I forgot to tell you to check out the Bitches thread once in a while because we're planning to do stuff that weekend (from Friday-Monday and I guess part of Tuesday before I leave) and of course you're encouraged to come! #1Elphie, you know that invite extends to you as well, if not for your geographical problem! (Surely you can fly into NYC again for this one mondo U2/birthday fest?)

haha. I'm not sure I'll even have enough money to make it back from New Zealand at all, let alone adding in a trip for a short stay here! Thanks, though. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Question: I'm reading Salman Rushdie's The Ground Beneath Her Feet, and I'm looking for the full video of the song. Anyone know where I can find it? U2.com has it, but I'm not a fan club member so I can only watch 30 seconds of it. Rushdie is in the video and I really want to see it but can't find it anywhere.
