Can't help you w/ a video, unfortuantely...But, I'm loving the song lately. It's on the Irving Plaza concert from the ATYCLB promo...just the most beautiful acoustic version! I wonder if it's on a DVD or something? Aren't there some that just have a bunch of misc videos? Hmmm.
I love the song, too. Listening to it now that I am familiar with its place in the context of the novel adds more meaning to it for me. I'm not sure if U2 has released all their videos on dvd or anything, but I'll look into it!
Hmmm...scratch that theory. I just took a quick peek on Amazon and B&N. I guess I just made that up! I know REM has a DVD of music videos. Maybe I just figured it was kind of standard issue. It'd be a good idea wouldn't it?? Sorry.
*waves to thread*
I'd participate more but I'm planning NYC right now.
Eh, what's new.
Shut up, you live there, you Take Forgranteder!
Hmmm...this is new. Are you planning solo, Tiff? I noticed the bitches thread hasn't been bumped, and the wave to the thread implied you were off. Care to share some ideas.
*pouts* I'm not a Take Forgranteder, dammit!...I just can't believe (beyond a hotel) you're planning 6 months in advance, you nut! And I say that w/ love.
*strokes thread tenderly* I haven't been planning solo - I was actually helping Allie plan because she's almost as broke as me and she's got an even smaller budget. I've got my fingers crossed for The Plaza on my birthday!
And 6 months in advance is NOT bad at all!! I can't actually book the ticket until I KNOW where I'm living in the fall (which wont' be until June or July since I'll be receiving my rejection letters then ) so this is all to see if it's even financially feasible for me to go! Otherwise you'll be standing next to some fat smelly eBay addict on 10/8 and 10/10! (Granted, even if I DO go you'll be standing next to a fat smelly eBay addict, but...)
*tsk tsk*
3rd pages, ladies? 'Tis sad. We need some fresh U2 news! Has anyone seen the scans of the current program? It looks quite...sparse. If I didn't want a cheap momento, I wouldn't even bother.
Also Mabel, I popped the money order into the mail today so you should be getting it late next week or early the week after!
And I must admit, I'm starting to warm more th '90-'00 now that I've listened to the songs a few times. I still hate the Pop stuff, but some of the relative oldies but goodies remind me of why I love this band so much.

Pop isn't so bad...although I'm glad they've ditched that sound for more of a 'classic' U2 vibe...but c'mon! Staring at the Sun, If God Will Send His Angels and more are all fab!
And you're only now warming to 90-00?? Tsk...how can you not LOVE songs such as One, Mysterious Ways, Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me??? I even like Discotheque.
But I guess I'm just more of a U2 fan than you. *shrug*
Go back to your Metallica CDs, llllllllloser.
There's definitely some good stuff from 1990-2000. Mysterious Ways, One, Miss Sarajevo, Stay, Staring at the Sun, The First Time, and Numb are the ones that really stick out for me.
Hey all, only here to post this. Got work to do tonight. ("Work.")
Check out this thread. I have to say, I was fairly incensed with this guy's attitude. See if you can figure out which poster is me!

Also, yeah, yeah, yeah, '90-'00 is good, okay? *raspberry* I'm listening to it as we speak. I canNOT wait to hear One in the encore! *swoooon*
Oh! And my eBay auction for my friend's tickets are ending in a couple of hours! The $200 early offer guy didn't end up following through, and good thing because the bid is up to $214 and there's still plenty more time to move up! (If only I could get rid of my Vegas singles. Grownupgroupie, do you know anyone who might want to buy them at face?)
Bye ladies! (And Ellie.)
Everything except for a few expensive singles available by 10:02. That's more like it, I suppose. Easier to get rid of the 11/4 singles I have. Still, there wasn't any presale, so there's absolutely no reason for me to have NOT gotten any GAs within my first 20 tries!
Bastards.
*hugs lonely thread* Well, here's an interesting topic of discussion. There's a big thread on Interference on "How does U2 justify these high ticket prices?"--
----- Related sidenote: As for Oasis opening for U2 at MSG in October....I'm thinking not.
https://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/oasis%20keeping%20it%20cheap ----------
Anyway, just curious to hear your thoughts on that. Particularly with the Vegas sales, there were seats on the side of the stage in the upper levels that were going for US$183! How does that work?? All of us have paid a fair chunk of money for the tickets we do have (while I don't balk at $50 nosebleeds, I think anything over $120 for lower bowl is sort of ridiculous), but at the same time, supply and demand and those pesky eBay scalpers (shut up, Ellie) have proven that people are willing to pay much more than face value for tickets to the show! So is U2 justifed for selling for higher (esp. when other acts like Madonna and Elton are in the similar - but still lower - $50-$120 range)?
Hmmmm....
Sorry about the GAs Tiff.
I think the tickets are way too expensive. Maybe I'll actually formulate a good reasoning for that when I can think more clearly. I'm too tired now, busy weekend.
Ladies, at the 2nd Phoenix show they played Bad, my favorite song ever. I mean ever. Not just by U2. So yeah, I'm excited. I really hope they play it at MSG in May. You can't imagine how much I would freak out. If they play it, be glad you're not there with me.
OMG!!!I just got back on-line (I was at a friends house this weekend, cat sitting w/ my mom...Saw Spamalot and Dame Edna, got a gladiola...good times!!!) Anyway, back to the OMG! I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY PLAYED BAD!!! It's almost a bad thing (no pun intended, honest) because now I've got that glimmer of a hope for Boston. I want to here it so bad (again, no pun!)!!!!
Tiff, thanks for the MO, I'll keep you posted. I've got your tix, so I'll send those out sometime soon (w/ some CDs...unfortunately in 4 days, all I got around to was Disc One of The Joshua Tree show from Boston Garden...tsk, tsk)
Off to scour setlists and check up on my e-mail!

I really hope they play Bad too...there's more chance of that than some of the others I want played, like Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me, or Everlasting Love. They have no chance, I assume...
How was Dame Edna, Mabel? I saw the show in February - loved it!
And also, wouldn't it have been easier for the cat to go to you?

Sounds like a fun weekend, mabel! Did you like Spamalot? I thought it was great.
I heard it was an amazing version of Bad, too. The "I'm wide awake..." part was supposedly amazing. I definitely want a bootleg of that show.
If I don't see them perform Bad, I'll be really disappointed now that I know that they've played it, so you're right about it being a potentially "bad" thing. I've got my hopes up.
I think Bad (when done well) is the most amazing thing live! I really, really, really want to hear it. The "I'm wide awake"s and "This desparation/ Dislocation/ Separation/ Condemnation/
Revelation/ In temptation/Isolation/ Desolation" Not to mention the fact that they usually throw a cool snippet of another song in w/ Bad
I had a blast at Dame Edna and Spamalot. I'd actually seen both before (in previews...I got comps for DE, and the last row of the balcony for Spamalot...got student rush and SRO this time around) Edna was good times. That saucy Aussi queen seemed a bit tipsey! The poor souls she dragged up were good fun, and the mezz was so empty we got to move down to the front row, so that was fun!
On the cat sitting...my mom came to the city for the weekend to catch a couple of shows, so we cat sat (by day, saw shows by night!), rather than springing for a hotel room for the weekend.
*creams
I love Bad. I never bothered mentioning it because it wasn't on any earlier set lists and I didn't think they would introduce many new songs to rotate, but you've given me hope! Oh my god. I love the same "deperation, dislocation, separation...etc.etc." part too Mabel! Oh my god, that song...LIVE? *still trembling thinking about it* My hopes are totally up now.
8 more days! 8 more days!!
HMTMKMKM (I had to think harder to acronym-ize that than if I just typed out the whole damn thing) is a great song. Everlasting Love is okay, but I don't think it would be very good live.
Broadway Legend Joined: 9/20/04
Meh, you're probably right about Everlasting Love. I wish they'd just play every song they ever recorded.
If Bad were the only thing I heard them play live, I would still be 100% thrilled.
I hope some new songs are thrown in there for the third leg. You think they'll switch it up, right? I can't imagine they'd keep practically the same set-list for that long.
I would like to think they'd switch it up for the third leg. I mean, would they really want to do 9 months w/ the same songs?!?!?...I'm kind of bummed that I'm going to BostonI, since it seems like most of the first shows are pretty standard issue (oh well, at least in NY, we're catching II and III!)
I'd be happy to hear a shortened set w/ Bad. It's an epic song. With it in the setlist, they could totally justify only doing 19 songs (for me at least). That 2nd Arizona show looked really good actually. I'll have to make a note to try to find a boot of that sometime down the road!
I'm sure, sure, sure that every NY show in the third leg will be different, but with what, 5 or 6 October shows, plus the two November, I wonder just how much variation there could be. WOuldn't it be awful if the DVDed the November concert(s) instead?
Yeah, I have to find a boot of Arizona2. It sounds like a great show.
In May since they're only doing 1 MSG show, I'm hoping it'll be a good one. And in November I'm seeing MSG2 (the last MSG show) so there should be some nice rarities in there, right? I really can't wait.
ETA: I hope they DVD the last November concert.

I think May and November II will be amazing shows. Especially November II. How are your seats?
