*gasp*
Eddie Vedder? That ol' codger is still alive?
*files nails*
Fine. So I guess you guys wanna know about those ol' Irish codgers, right? Should I just skip straight to that?
I'm shocked more people weren't on Edge's side!!! Good going!
Not a huge, huge Pearl Jam fan myself, but at least he gave you a break for Ashton Dylan (no disprespect meant to Dylan, but he sounds seriously F*CKed up lately!)
Vedder banged those tambourines like a mofo. Broke 4 or 5 of them and chucked them into the audience. I was hoping for a potential lawsuit, but alas, he throws like a girl and it didn't make it over the run.
Alright, alright. I'll cut to the boys. So KOL was over at 8:10, and the boys weren't scheduled to come on until 9. My feet were killing, and I asked the fat blonde mean-looking woman (middle-aged housewife with her Hells Angels husband) if I could get my hand in to lean against the rail because I've rolled my ankle and it sucks. She bitches, "No, I'm leaning on it because of my bad. Sorry." Glares at me, and turns around before I can tell her I don't want her spot, just to lean.
Anyway, so 8:55pm, the lights go down, Arcade Fire (I think) comes on, and people are going APESH*T on the right side of the arena. In the lower bowl entrance for seats next to the stage, a crowd of people dressed in black at strolling down in the dark with little flashlights. I couldn't see much better than that because the crowd was surging that way, but I was trying to take as many photos as possible. The arena is otherwise pitch black, and suddenly, poof. Red light floods, and who's standing in the middle of the run?
Oh yeah, and my future husband. I wonder if he was planning his imminent proposal to me while he was playing this.
A-a-and they were playing City of Blinding Lights...juuuust like they probably are now.
Echo-cho-cho-cho-cho...
Fine, I'll keep posting pics and reviews until 8pm PST. Then I need a break to start packing. Oy.
One more CobL photo.
*waves*
I'm still here!
I'd say it's a good think you're shipping off to Europe tomorrow, so you don't have to torture yourself reading the reviews of the COBL shoot. Not to harp on a touchy subject.
So at the end of the song, the crowd finished surging against the barricade, and that bitch woman turns around and yells at me! She screams (and keep in mind that the applause was dying down so there was no reason for screaming), "I am about to take your goddamn camera away from you and smash it on the ground. You're shoving me, hurting my back and PULLING ON MY HAIR!" and I'm screaming back that she should F*CKing watch it because there are 2000 people pushing behind us and it ain't me. She ignores me and screams again, "I will take your camera and break it. F*CK off." and turns back around and ignores me.
I was seething but my voice was already goingand I figure it's not worth screaming back at her and I don't want it to ruin my night. (During Sunday, she screamed at another guy for jumping into her, even though SHE was the one bopping around, so at least I know it's not personal. She's just crazy.)
Anyway, then they crack out Beautiful Day, and it's stunning, touching, and Bono's got 20,000 people singing along. Hell, even Elevation was good. It's definitely not a great song, but there's so much energy and it's got a catchy chorus, so the crowd was jumping and Bono was totally into it. I don't have many pictures of Vertigo one, mainly because everyone was jumping and singing and I couldn't stay still.
Beautiful Day:
Elevation:
Wow, I'm glad groupie and I lucked out and didn't have any crazies near us!
They can really ruin a show...or seriously taint it at least.
Totally.
Anyway, so finally Gloria comes on! And I nearly cream. Seriously, I turned around, jumped up and down in front of my friend and started screeching that they're playing Gloria. She looks at me with a blank face and shrugs. I sigh and decide just to sing along. I'm not a huge Gloria fan, but I like it enough, and the whole crowd was wailing away with him. I didn't like the end with the Ocean snippet. I didn't think it worked very well.
Then tehre was New Year's Day, which was the first time Bono went around the entire run in the Evil Knievel jacket and bandana! HOT!!
But alas, I'll be back in 45 minutes. I've really got to start packing.
And don't mention CobL! *wails* Actually, it's okay. I've been keeping tabs on Interference. Have you figured out who I am?
I'm back! Great pictures so far, even if they're fuzzy.
And yes, I know who you are. You should know the two week rule, Tiff!
Sure did Tiff, aka Melsbud!!! A Vancouverite concerned about her two middle shows at MSG...tough to pick you out!
Definitely would LOVE to hear Gloria, but I'm set that I won't be hearing it. I'm sure they won't play it on Boston I, and I have doubts that it'll make it to the 3rd leg...So, unless I manage to snag a ticket for Boston II (NOT going to happen, btw) I'm not seeing it panning out.
Good luck w/ the packing, and one last "safe trip!"
I think I'm off for the night. I should do some reading before I go to bed. I'm going to have SO many papers and things to tend to this weekend. I've got a feature story for my journalism class, a couple other papers, this ridiculous journal that I've only done 5 entries for, and two classes that have finals that consist of 4-5 questions that need 2-4 page responses for each question/issue/whatever. So I'll have lots and lots and lots of typing to do this weekend! They're all due May 10th, but since I plan on checking out before that, I'll need to hop on them. Blech!
Night, Tiff. Have a great trip!!! I can't wait to hear about it when you get back.
Night, mabel. Good luck with your work!
*deepblush*
How was I supposed to know?? Is it sad that I keep returning to that thread every 10 minutes to see if he's put up Seattle 2 yet? It's KILLING me. I want to take it to Europe so I can listen to it on the plane. I'm DYING.
Oh yeah, here's my husband Adam while jamming for Gloria. I "accidentally" just got his crotch. Maybe he took it as my mating call?
Anyway, so after New Year's Day, Bono says that the think he likes the most about people in Seattle is their hope and optimism about the future and blahdeblah...I'd wanna say it was touching, but to be honest, it seemed pretty rehearsed. Interferencers said they could see a teleprompter. I'm thinking he read that off the screen. *yawn*
OK, I'm back, but just because I decided not to bother reading in favor of going to bed early. So, I shall leave (again) saying I love that trippy picture of the full band (the one after the "accidental" picture of Adam's crotch!)
Hope the show pop's up online in time for you to download it for your trip! It'd be a pity to be on such a long plane ride w/o something so exciting to listen to (probably just as well for those around you though...you might not be able to control yourself, and there's nothing worse than being on a long plane ride next to a nut! )

Talk to you after I get back! I don't think I'll have time for a song-by-song review, but I'll talk about the highlights later on tonight after I've at least gotten halfway with my packing and I'll stick some more pictures on here. That's what's making this take so long--loading, editing, cropping, saving and then sticking them where I can link them. Argh. WHEN IS SEATTLE 2 COMING UP??
Okay, I think I'm off to take a shower, read, and go to bed. Sorry to leave you alone here, Tiff, but hopefully it'll motivate you to pack!
I hope you have a wonderful trip, I know you will! We'll miss ya here, this thread won't be the same for a few weeks! Can't wait to hear from when you get back.

Aww. *hugs Tiff* You'll be up all night, running around and trying to get things in order, if you don't start now!
Hey, did you get my PM this afternoon? Way not to respond. *sniffles*
I was going to wait and see if you came online tonight, and if you didn't, I'd respond to your PM instead. It would be silly for us to say our good-byes, just to start talking again, right?
BTW, happy birthday in advance!!

Hehe, I suppose you're right... I hope you're having a good time packing while you're chatting, my dear!
Thanks. Have a drink for me on Tuesday, okay? I'll have one, too!! LEGALLY. YAY!
Tuesday I'm in...Rhineland. So trust me, there will be drinks to be had. I'll toast you while I'm under the table. I think it's likely I'll vow to become a vegetarian once Germany is through with me.

Aw, thanks, Tiffy! That will make my day!
Okay, I have to stop coming into this thread, because all those beautiful pictures are taking WAY too long to load each time. Damn computer...
