Ooh, tough call, mabel. I'm guessing you wouldn't want to go to both shows? (your mom would be paying for one of them, right? that would probably make it somewhat more feasible). Anyway, if you decided to go on Friday with your mom, which seems like the more reasonable choice for you, I'm sure Tiff would understand.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens on Sunday. Who knows, maybe I won't even be able to get a pair of $50 seats to one of the shows. Though, I think I'll be pulling a bit more for the Friday show, since it would be more convenient (since I have a class on Wednesday night) and Tiff was still kind of up in the air about being able to make it earlier any way. *sigh*
Back to work. I just grabbed a bite to eat (got a slice of pizza and some garlic knots, only to discover I had $2 in my wallet *blush* so I had to run to the ATM...of course it started to rain on the way back to pick my food up! Yep, a lovely evening alright!)
Oh, I couldn't help but post this (from craigslist)...it was simply too disgusting to resist!!!
A question for the female (only) U2 fans: I have 2 tickets I can't use, but I don't feel like SELLING them...what would you do for them?
Hottest chick (or chicks) with the best all-night proposition gets both in the morning. Think of me as the Road Manager who can get you into their dressign rooms. What's it worth to you?
Send your pic, your 'offer' and your availability for consideration

I'm sure Tiff will get over it. Blood is thicker than water after all! Plus - Tiff's not even a proper Beatles fan, anyway. 'Tis true.
And congrats on your BWW Member Award nominations, ladies! I'll be sure to vote for you!
Wow! I had no idea I was nominated for a BWW award (I didn't even know they were doing BWW awards!)...My, my, my.
*doffs hat to Ellie for suggesting that I remove the Bono's ass avatar* You deserve some credit for my nod! ...though I have a sneaking suspicion that Tiff will walk away w/ that one!
Tiff will probably win best avatar, though not for the one she has now (although it is a great one!). She's infamous for her past avatars. I love yours though, mabel.
So I'm looking into backups for tomorrow in case I don't get a ticket in the DRS lotto (I usually don't have the best of luck with lottos). I've got Piazza and Chitty as two options. They both sell student rush tickets 2 hours before curtain, correct? Mabel, do you know anything about my chances of getting tickets at either of those if, for the matinee, I get there a little after noon? DRS lotto drawing is at 12 so I was planning on running to one of those other shows immediately if I don't get a ticket to DRS. Would I have a chance? Which one would be more likely? Do you have any other suggestions?
ETA: Never mind, I started a thread on this so I could get more advice and wouldn't have to put all the pressure on you, mabel!

Just got back from a little writing awards ceremony (yay for free food and a gift certificate to B&N!!!)
Ummm, I just did Piazza last Thursday. I think I bought mine at like 6:30 or so (maybe closer to 6:45, because my friend who's no longer a student, but still has her student ID slipped up and said she wasn't a full time student, so we had to run around finding a Juilliard student who'd help us). The pair we got were on the far right section right on the aisle about 5 rows back (great seats) so I wouldn't think a Wed. mat would be that bad for getting tix a little after they go on sale. I'm not sure about Chitty, but it is a HUGE theatre, so I would think you'd probably be fine for that too on a matinee (unless they bring in huge groups of kiddies, in which case it might be a little tighter???)
Thanks for your help, mabel. Hopefully I'll get into DRS and won't have to worry about my back-up plans! By the way, what did you think of Piazza?
Ooh, guess what? I got a U2 iPod! It's a really early birthday present from my parents (my birthday's in 4 months but they figured I'd use it a lot in the summer and I should have it before I leave for New Zealand). I wouldn't have gotten a U2 one for myself, I don't think it's worth the extra money, but it was a gift so I'm not complaining!

Oooooh!!! I'm jealous of your U2 ipod! My parents just bought me the 30 gig Dell as an early birthday/end of the school year gift. I guess it just arrived at home today, but they have to pick it up at UPS Thursday on their way to NYC, since there was no one to sign for it.
Re: Piazza...I actually really liked it, even though it's not really "my type of show." I tend to want to puke w/ an excess of soprano-y singing, but I actually thought it was a really great show. The cast is great, and the production values (set/costumes, etc) were fabulous! Besides, it's bound to be nominated for a bunch of awards, so if DRS falls through, I'd say it's worth seeing for that reason alone.
Gotta run to class. Talk to you later!
Hello ladies! I just got back from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. My name was the first one called for the lottery! Perhaps my luck has changed!
I absolutely loved it; it's the best show I've seen in a long time. I thought it was so much better than Spamalot, I hope it has a chance at the Tony for best musical. Norbert was hilarious! I was sitting in A101 (on the left aisle of center orchestra) and Sherie scared me to death when she jumped out from the orchestra; I was afraid she would kick me! It was cool, though, she was standing right next to me. I got autographs from Norbert, John, and Gregory. Apparently the ladies are hard to get, especially after a matinee. But I had a wonderful time!

Glad you had a great time...I can't wait to see DRS! Why are the ladies hard to get? They just don't come out, or they snub their fans?
And hurrah for your U2 iPod!
Glad you had more lotto luck than I did today! I checked telecharge this afternoon and saw that the only pair of seats for The Pillowman were in the last row, on the aisle, so I figured it wasn't worth going all the way up there (having to rush back for a final) when they probably wouldn't have any tix anyway. So I tried for Spelling Bee and lost. They called another Nicole 2nd to last, which was like rubbing salt in the wound! Oh well, I have plenty of stuff to do here anyway.
Oh! I did see Adam Duritz walking down 45th (stopped by Pillowman to see if they had standing room...they didn't) Guess he must have been heading over to Charity's opening! I wish I'd stopped him, since he was just kind of strolling along, but I just gawked instead. Certainly much more intelligent!
Anyway, glad you enjoyed DRS. I loved it as well...can't wait to see it again on Friday (even though it's gonna be from the last row of the mezz). Did you get a free CD???

*covers eyes*
Damn you NYC dwellers!
*bumps into wall*
Ooh, I'm so jealous that you saw Adam Duritz! I love him. I wouldn't have had the guts to stop him either.
I'm sorry you didn't luck out with Spelling Bee. I generally don't have any luck, either. I'm sure you'll enjoy your 2nd trip to DRS with your fam. I did get a free cd, and I'm excited about it! Oh, I saw Candice Bergen there. I didn't say anything to her, though, just smiled as I walked by her.
Yeah, I could see his hair bopping down the street, and was like "OMG! It's Adam Duritz from Counting Crows!!!" and my friend was like "Where?!?"..."Just look for the hair!" He was wearing his "traditional opening garb" of a flowery shirt and tie (I think they were maroon). Shoulda said something. Damn! I said to myself, "hmmm, what's opening tonight?" Lo and behold, it's Charity, so keep your eyes peeled for him in the photo ops tomorrow!

Yeah, well, I saw an old lady that used to mind my cat...so there!!! *raspberry*
Elphie, I just read a rumor that U2 may make an appearance at a Romones tribute on the 19th at Irving Plaza...not sure what the deal is w/ tix (I'm sure they're already sold out). Might be worth keeping an eye peeled though!

Are you going to try Spelling Bee again, Mabel? When do you leave NYC?
Oh, and actually I don't have a cat - I made that up. Cats are evil. But I did see an old lady!
Just any old lady?...Ellie, I'm disappointed in you, you liar! I'm having doubts you even scored tix for October!
I don't think I'll have a chance to try for Spelling Bee again until I come back in the fall (or if I make a weekend trip to the city sometime this summer). Hmmm...maybe the Saturday mat?? Dunno. The folks and I are supposed to run around checking out some apartments, so I don't know if that'd be in the cards afterall...I'm leaving sometime Sunday, btw.
I really need to write this essay! But I'm just not in the mood to compare/contrast Buddhism and existentialism!

Ock, when is anybody ever in the mood for that??
And no, not just any old lady!
OK, yes, just some random spinster.
I've loved my Beats, Bongos, and Buddhims class, and this is just not the way I want to end it!!! Blech!
Elphie, I don't know if you like The Ramones, but if you do, tix are still available...might be worth checking out (should the lads make an appearance!)
Tix
Damn, I wish I lived in Chicago. Tonight (while avoiding my existentialism/Buddhims paper) I found two people selling pairs of GAs for face (on interference and that ticket database 4th-whatever), AND I saw an auction for side/behind the stage seats end on eBay at $75 for a pair! Damn it! It's glorious to be in NYC, but having my two options for venues be in the two most popular cities for the band (or probably pretty much any band, for that matter) kind of blows!
ETA: Whoo! They added a Saturday show for McCartney at MSG!
Oh, that's great about a Saturday show being added for McCartney! When do tickets go on sale for that again? Good luck!
I'm not really a Ramones fan and I don't really feel like blowing off $25 for another concert just for a possibility of seeing U2 when I'll be seeing them 2 days later, but thanks for the tip, mabel, I really appreciate it. It does tempt me.
I'm still hoping for them to do some surprise concert on the day of the GMA taping; the last thing I heard was a small performance on May 20th outside ABC studios (posted on Interference).
Good luck to both of ya on all your work, I know you must be swamped. Mabel, beats, bongos, and buddhisms sounds very interesting! Sorry the paper isn't too much fun.
Bella! Iàm here! And a bountiful of typos await because this keyboard is °European° so technically I AM typing in the right places ' those Euros have it wrong.
Miss you guys tons. Iàm on here for another 15 minutes. Donàt worry about Paul McC. It gives me a reason to not spend anymore money! (Really, 7 days in, I already have enarly run out of dough and Iàve got another 2 weeks to go.)

How's Europe? Where are you? Met any hot European guys?
ETA: Never mind, I saw your post on the other thread so I'm caught up!

Do you mind doing me a favor and threadjacking the Bitches thread while Iàm gone_ It appears my U2 buddies are more loyal than my Bitches when it comes to keeping my threads alive! (sob)
Aie, Iàve gotta run. These net rates are astronomical. I havenàt downloaded Seattle 2 yet. Howàs the quality_ Will he be taking it off the site soon_ Iàm worried itàll be gone by the time I get home.
BTW, it seems like I didnàt mss out on the Vancovuer shows, eh_ Whew.
