Aw, thanks, Tiffy! That will make my day!
Okay, I have to stop coming into this thread, because all those beautiful pictures are taking WAY too long to load each time. Damn computer...
And then everyone left! I think I shouldn't have bitched so much about Kings of Leon. I scared them away. If they think that's bad, wait till they hear the real thing.
I have such pretty pictures too. *cries* It's okay. They'll be developed and on my wall when I get home.
Oh, thank god. CobL isn't that great, and it seems they didn't do much else other than that! STYCMIOYO really isn't the same without the kid, although All Because Of You would have been cool to see. Still, no I Will Follow. No 40. I'm not too choked.
From Interference:
k, now that I've calmed down
they gave us all assigned seats, I sat side stage, 4 rows up
they "randomly" gave people yellow wristbands to get into the ellipse once we were in the arena
the played COBL twice, then 20 minute break, COBL twice again, 20 minute break, COBL once, 20 minute break, during this time, they were mostly filming the band and Bono
then they moved everyone onto the floor, yellow wristband people ellipse, everyone else outside of the ellipse
they played COBL again for crowd shots.... they then wrapped up filming, and the band busted out Vertigo and All Because of You, they left the stage, but bono came out with one more and they did Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own
Tiff, have you left already? Doesn't sound like you missed too much. Did you ever get to download Seattle 2? Have a great trip!!!
I agree...It doesn't sound like Tiff missed much. Sure, if you had nothing else to do, it would have been great to see them perform a few songs for free (including the Hokey Pokey, apparently! Yeah, that would have been worth kicking around and listening to MANY versions of COBL!!!)
The Hokey Pokey? Really? I would have loved to see that!
And, since Tiff is gone now, I was trying to make her feel better about missing it, but I seriously would have loved to be there. CoBL is one of my fave songs. But if Tiff isn't that into it, then she probably wouldn't have gotten too much out of the video shoot.
And I don't feel all that bad for her because she got to see the best concert of the tour so far!

How cool would it have been to actually be in a U2 vid, though?? Tres cool indeed, even if it is in a crowd of 4,000. Although you never know - maybe Bono did a Springsteen/Courteney Cox type thingy...it coulda been Tiff. But alas, it was not to be.
Yeah...it would have been fun (especially for the Hokey Pokey!!!..."What if the hokey pokey is what it's all about?" Think about that, man!)
I was pissed that they didn't use any of the Brooklyn Bridge footage in the ABOY video (it was just the driving around on the flatbed/crossing the bridge. Seemed kind of lame to me...wouldn't it make sense to have the last verse or something of them onstage singing it in front of the thousands who showed up for the actual concert???)
Anyway, I'm off...toying w/ the notion (if they are indeed still available) of buying a pair of tix for Boston II. Maybe my mom'll join me! She made a U2 joke the other day. I was so proud of her! I was explaining what the deal w/ GA was (about getting there early, and about the "bomb shelter," and the lotto, etc) And I was saying that even though they were doing the lottery, it'd probably still be a good idea to get there early-ish, so that you could be close to the edge (of the catwalk) and she said "Literally! Of course you want to be as close as possible to The Edge!!!" *beams* I love my mom!
Bye, ladies!

Boston II?? Some girls want it all. Harumph.
But bye!
Back again, before I run to the bank and up to Times Square to pick up some tix for shows to see w/ my folks...Elphie, I saw a post on interference from you looking for a single to the 11/22 show at MSG. Didn't you get one on eBay? I hope that didn't fall through! Was it not legit?!?!?! Good luck (and if you could find a pair of cheapies for the Monday show, I'd be tempted to go...don't even start, Ellie!!! I realize I have a problem, but hell, I don't smoke or drink (that often) so think of all the money I have accrued to spoil myself w/!!!)
Au revoir!
Haha. You're quick! I just posted that and came here to tell my story.
So I'm an idiot. For some reason I was convinced that the ticket I bought was for 11/22 (Tuesday), but it was actually for 11/21 (Monday). I just looked at the ticket now and realized it. And I REALLY want to see the second show after looking at the differences between setlists. So I'm disappointed that I'm such an idiot!
I figure 3 isn't too many shows, right??? If I can snag a pair to 11/22, would you wanna come? I'll look for that if you want to.

This guy wants to sell me a ticket for 11/22 for $100 (300-level behind the stage). He started with $120 and when I said that was too high he said $100. I'm tempted to take it, but I won't. That's too much for me, I gotta stay under $70.
I downloaded Tiff's concert. It sounds really good. I'm listening to it now while I should be studying for my last final of the year, which is tomorrow morning! Bad time to download a concert. It's not the *best* quality, but it's not so bad. If you want me to send it to any of you, let me know, I can burn it.
Elphie, I have class scheduled for Tuesday nights, so I'd only be able to (possibly) swing a Monday show. The Boston II tix fell through. I thought they were $50 tix (I though all of the balcony seats at The Fleet/whatever the hell it's called now were $50, but these were close to the stage and $100 each. That made the decision VERY easy!) I'd be tempted for a Monday, the 21st show, but I'm limiting myself to low behind the stage or a low row in the front of stage/back of arena seats, and at face value. I'm not allowing myself to budge on that! I'll keep my eyes peeled and let you know if I see anything of interest.
DAMN!!! I wish I hadn't seen this...gives me a smidgen of hope!

Wow! That gives me hope, too, especially because as of now I only have a ticket to MSG1 and not MSG2 in November. I'm surprised! Might that setlist have something to do with the dvd? (I haven't been on Interference yet so I'm not up to date on that situation).
Ladies, I AM FINISHED WITH FINALS!!! The semester is over, I gotta pack now and I can go home tomorrow! yay!
YAY!!! Congrats on being done!!! I'm chipping away at that stupid COM journal that I have to BS. Booo! I think I'm going to finish the entry I'm working on now, and try to get into the last showing of that Show Business documentary. It's just down the street, so I'll swing by and see how many people are there waiting for standby.
Elphie, have you gotten rid of that Tuesday October ticket? Maybe you could trade that for the Tuesday November show? Good luck!!! (though I doubt the setlists will be exactly the same come fall. I'm thinking Crumbs will replace one of the Bomb songs at the very least...and I hope they replace Elevation w/ UtEotW...though that would be an awful lot of AB songs!) I'm still keeping my eyes peeled for a Boston II pair (I guess my mom really wants to go now! I called her last night to tell her how Light in the Piazza was, and mentioned the tix were $100 each, and she was like "Great! Thanks for getting my hopes up!" I'm on a mission to fully convert her!
Anyway, gotta finish this entry! Talk to you later! Good luck packing, and have a safe trip back home!!!
Just bumpin this up, because we were all the way on the third page!!!
Nothing much to say other than Vancouver 2 had what has been the typical A setlist. I'm hoping the rest of the tour has the Gloria/Bad setlist on the first dates (as much as I'd love to hear Electric Co/An Cat, I'd rather have G/B!) I'm almost afraid to look at Chicago, because I think it'll just have the potential to get my hopes way up...yeah, I may try to steer clear of setlists (other than NYC!) until I go. We'll see how I do! ...Oh, and it sounds like they're making the DVD in Chicago. I guess they taped Vancouver as a "dry run," or at least that's the theory I read. Did anyone read any of the reviews of the show? I was checking them out this morning before running up to the Met for a class, and it sounds like it was prettty nuts. I guess the vast majority of the crowd was totally wasted, including the chick Bono brought up on stage during Yahweh (why Yahweh?!?!) and she kept trying to cop a feel! Apparently she didn't last very long; he booted her off straight away.
Anyway, that's all. I've been running around all day...off to take a quick nap, and then I've got to try to put a dent in some papers for finals. Hoorah!
I haven't been keeping up with the tour at all, and I don't think I really will until MSG (I don't want to get my hopes up; I'll just be surprised).
I wish they would do the dvd at MSG! Why Chicago? New York is a much better city.
I'm home now! So much for all the resting I was gonna do, though; my mom has put me to work mulching our yard. I've been doing it all day and probably will be tomorrow.
On Wednesday I think I'll come into the city and do lotto for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (matinee and then evening if I don't get matinee); mabel, have you seen that yet? Did you like it?
Yeah, I saw DRS in previews. I really, really liked it! I think it's my favorite musical of the season (also saw Spamalot, Light in the Piazza, All Shook Up, and Good Vibrations...haven't gotten around to Little Women and Spelling Bee yet). I picked up the CD on Wednesday, and I've been HOOKED! I'm going back on Friday w/ my parents (can't wait!!)
I just got back from Doubt. I liked it, but wasn't as blown away as I was expecting to be. I'm going to try to catch The Pillowman on Wednesday, so I'll have seen (hopefully) the two biggies of the season. I don't know. There were a couple of things that just didn't add up for me (or didn't seem plausible). It didn't really bother me that you were pretty much left up in the air (kind of expected that w/ the title being DOUBT and all, but...) I don't know.
Anyway, back to my paper(s). Talk to you later!
Oh Chicago! Yeah, I have no idea why they'd pick Chicago. I guess just because they wanted to do a city from the first leg, and since it had four dates (Boston was the second highest w/ 3, but we got the Elevation DVD) so Chicago got it by default. Maybe they'll do a European date or NYC in the fall (they did do two Elevation shows afterall!)
Good point about Chicago, I guess it makes sense.
I'm sorry you were sort of let down by Doubt. I would probably have a similar reaction just because all the hype it's gotten has made it out to be this masterpiece in my mind, and it's impossible to live up to that. I really want to see the Pillowman, I hope you like it. Let me know how it is, because I definitely want to see it!
Good luck on all your work! The school year's almost over!

And thank Jeebus the school year's almost over! Free at last! At last, I tell you, at last!! Well, nearly. There's those pesky examinations to get out of the way first. All this last minute cramming is making my brain explode. I've barely any time for BWW!
Weekend exams should be outlawed. Who's with me?
Have a fab time at DRS, Elphie. Glad you enjoyed it too, Mabel. And all of the other shows you've seen. I'm so happy for you..
And Chicago would be cool for the DVD, I guess. Still hoping for MSG, though! Or even their home show in Dublin, where the crowd is bound to be extra wild. It all adds to the atmosphere, y'know.
Well, I'm up to 23 pages typed in the last two days (and I saw a play this afternoon and was out doing class-related stuff from noon to 7pm yesterday). Why in the hell am I typing here then?!?! I need to give my fingers a rest!
Elphie, be sure to let me know how DRS is! If I didn't have so much SH*T to do here, I'd offer to swing up to TS and help your lotto odds on Wed afternoon! Well, maybe I'll have caught up more by then (I've still got about 25-30 pages worth of stuff to type up...*head-desk*...*biiiig sigh*)
Yeah, I have a feeling I'm going to go back and forth w/ Doubt. I think I would have liked it more if I wasn't in the last row of the balcony Have you ever been to the Kerr's balcony?...I don't think I've ever been SO HIGH UP!! It was crazy! I'm totally used to sitting in the back of the balcony, but in this theatre, I felt like I was looking straight down at them. It was like sitting in the fourth row on the orchestra, only at the very top of the theatre. Strange.
Yeah, I've been going a bit nuts w/ shows lately! I need to soak them all up before I go home. Looks like I'll miss out on Spelling Bee and Glengarry Glen Ross. Oh well, I managed to catch most of the shows on my list before shipping out!
Time for a mini-nap, and then maybe I'll try to knock a few more pages out. *weeps*
I'm going a bit show-crazy now that I'm home, too; I have to soak it all in before I leave the country for 5 months! I'm seeing Sweet Charity on Friday, Spelling Bee in 2 weeks, and I'll do some more lottos/rushes whenever I can. Since the job front is not looking good right now (it's hard to get a job when you're only around for less than 2 months), I have a lot of free time.
Good luck with exams/papers, both of ya!

I live relatively near to NYC, but alas, I have to make do with a few trips a year. However on my next visit, hopefully this summer, I shall go show mad, and spend every evening at the theatre! Yay!
*resents Elphie's freedom*
Uh oh, Miss Tiffany!!!
Yes, I know she's not here to read this, but I figured I'd post it anyway. I just found out they added a Paul McCartney concert on Friday Sept. 30th...Sadly, I think I'm going to have to abandon our plan to go together for that Wednesday show, because I've got class on Wednesday nights, AND my mom will be able to go w/ me for my birthday now. Damn! What do you think gals? Should I just leave poor Tiffy stranded, ticketless? She wasn't even sure she'd be able to come in early anyway, right!?!? I feel bad, but my mom would pick up the tab (since it'd be a present pour moi) and it just seems criminal that she's never seen any of the Beatles in concert (we don't want to leave her trying to catch Ringo at Moheagan Sun now do we?!?!?)
Anyway, back to the grindstone...well, probably off to scrounge for something to eat, THEN back to the grindstone!
