Don't worry, I can send you Seattle2, it's no big deal. Not bad quality, either. Enjoy the rest of your trip. This thread isn't the same without you!
Mabel, I saw the pics of Charity's opening and you're right, Adam Duritz was there; I love the shirt and tie! Lots of people were there, actually. Gwyneth Paltrow, Blythe Danner, Donald Trump, Alec Baldwin, Rosie O'Donnell...I should have wandered over there before seeing DRS! I can't wait to see Sweet Charity tomorrow, though.
Come on ladies, 4th page! That's not acceptable! And right after Tiff prided us on keeping up the thread without her. To bump it up, I'll continue my conversation with myself (I know you both are really busy with school and stuff).
I saw Sweet Charity last night and loved it. I didn't know the story before I saw it and I tried to avoid reading anything about it because I wanted to be surprised. I think that made me like it more than most people, because most criticism seems to stem from opposition to the changes that have been made from the original version. Now I'll rent the movie so I can compare.
I thought Christina Applegate was fabulous. Her voice could have been a little stronger, but her acting was great and she had so much infectious energy. She seemed perfect for the part. Denis O'Hare was hilarious as Oscar. The choreography did seem somewhat lacking, but overall I really enjoyed it.
Good luck with all your work, girls! Mabel, did you manage to score McCartney tickets?

I am BAWLING over here. The tickets went on sale yesterday at 2. NO WHERE was Saturday or 2pm in the equation when I was checking this all out weeks ago. SUNDAY at NINE AM!!! Here I am at 8:30 ready to go. They're all going for hundreds, or even THOUSANDS of dollars on craigslist. WHAT THE F*CK!?!?!!?
*off to cry some more*...guess that's my bad karma swinging around for thinking of ditching Tiff. Mother.F*CKer!!!!!!!!!
ETA: I have stopped my hyperventillating (ok, it really wasn't that bad, but I did shed a tear or two...mainly out of sheer anger at the fact that had I known, I was RIGHT by school at 1:30 yesterday, and could have easily come here to try for them) I'm really bummed for my mom though. I wanted to bring her so bad. There are some on eBay that aren't too bad (some nosebleeds going for $175-ish w/ Buy it Now, when I think they'd have been $130 w/ fees on TM. I'm still debating whether I want to go for those or try on McCartney's site for people w/ extras, or wait until the week of and hope for some released tix. I don't know what to do. God, I hate TM.
Oh, I'm so sorry! I checked just out of curiosity yesterday (Saturday) around 2:30 and there was nothing left. They probably sold out pretty quickly. Keep checking ebay and McCartney message boards. People on Interference have been talking about how they release tickets the day of the show; they'll probably do that for McCartney as well, so if you haven't found tickets by then, remember that. That really sucks, though, I would be upset too.
Hi! I'm new here.
Mabel, I know exactly how you feel. I was in desperate desire of some U2 tickets, and when they went on sale yesterday I had no idea! I was at work, and I arrived home to find that all tickets had sold out. There was no prior notice that the tickets would be going on sale, Ticketmaster just randomly announced yesterday morning 'Ok, the tickets are on sale now!'. It might sound a bit dramatic, but I am devastated. Especially as this is my THIRD time to miss out! Aaargh!

Jezebel, I'm still reeling over McCartney. I'm certainly not that avid a ticket buyer for concerts, but I must say, I've never seen the general sale be bumped up like that!
I posted that I wanted tix on McCartney's site. I'll give that a few days and browse around on eBay. We'll see. If all else fails, I'll keep my eyes peeled on TM that week. They do usually release a bunch the day of, but I'm so worried that all they'll put out are $250 tix! I really don't care how crappy they are, I just want to be in the building for less than $75/ticket!
What can you do??? Nothin'! Talk to you later. Off to browse around and see if anyone's looking to unload some U2 tix for BostonII on interference, etc. Maybe my mom's just bad luck as a concert buddy! I'm 0-2 for concerts I was planning on bringing her to!!!
Hi girls,
I've been under a rock for a while again.
Mabel, I'm so sorry about the ticket time-mixup! I would have been devastated!
Tiff, I'm loving the tres chic Euro-typos....keep them coming! And hope you're having a fabulous time!!!
SO....I FINALLY got the "footwear" in the mail from "my" show and it is GREAT!!!! A really good quality recording, and it just took us back--so exciting to hear it and remember little things we'd forgotten. Plus, that arena has iffy acoustics, so at the time we didn't understand all of Bono's little asides and we could totally understand them on the recordings (on 2 discs b/c of length.) Yay! I'm a total clueball with cd burning, but if anyone is interested in a copy I could work on it. Mabel, I think you have this one too, but from a different source? How is yours?
ALSO....we saw Elton John on Friday night and he was just amazing! What a great performer. He's such a charismatic little oompa loompa. Just this pudgy little giant queen of a man and I love him! He was so cute and into it and his voice sounded INSANE. Anne Rice (a recent SD transplant) and her very cute son (also a novelist who is sadly 1) not on my team and 2) way too young for me) were there and Elton dedicated a song to them....he and Tim Rice have written a new musical based on The Vampire Lestat and it's starting in SF this summer. The first 1/2 of the show was all new material and the 2nd 1/2 all classics. AWESOME! We were 3rd row on the side....we got lucky. These were 1/2 the price of our SD U2 tix and way closer....b/c of the way the piano was situated, Elton was FACING our section even though we were on the side of the stage, so the seats were wonderful! And a cool added bonus is that we were just above a lot of the sound equipment so the whole time we were looking right at the computer that controlled the teleprompter, so we could 1) read along w/ the lyrics like supertitles and 2) always knew what was coming next, if we wanted to know (like, if we weren't sure there was another encore or something.)
Anyway, not our boys, but one of the best live shows I've ever seen for sure--he is just a joy to watch and hear and he gave the most touching tribute to his partner David (now his fiance, I guess? I heard they are getting hitched once civil unions become legal in England in the fall!) before this one song--I got all teary!
Aw, sounds like a great concert, Groupie! I'd love to see Elton John live. I'm glad you had fun (and such great seats!).

Hooray for Elton! I'd love to see his show...but alas, so many concerts, so little money! Glad you had a fab time, groupie.
And aww, Mabel (and Jezebel) - I'm so sorry!! I'm sure the most upsetting part is knowing that you could have gotten tickets if only you had known! I feel for you!
How long is Elton touring? When is he going back to Vegas? Maybe I'll catch him there, while I'm in town for Celine.
Come to think of it, I haven't posted any Celine pics in a good long while - is it time they made a comeback?
I wouldn't post those *beautiful* pictures when Tiff's not here, Ellie. I'm sure she would love to see more pics of Celine and would appreciate that you wait for her to get back. Don't worry, Mabel and I can survive until then.
Celine/Elton/U2? You guys sure have varied tastes, I'll give you that!
Oh yes, we represent a variety of musical tastes! U2 brought us together, though. It's hard to talk about U2 ALL the time, so this thread has sort of evolved into a general music thread. Jezebel, ya got any other random music to add to the mix?
My own tastes are extremely varied to say the least, so maybe I'll fit in well! I love dancing like a lunatic to the cheesiest pop I can find, but I also love 'proper music'. As well as Broadway, of course!

Don't forget about Paul McCartney and Green Day! They've played their part in this thread. Not to mention our blessed Celine.
We all love her, Jezebel. Right, gals?

Oh yeah, j'adore that quirky Quebecoise! *cough, cough*
I didn't know you were going to see Ms. Dion, Ellie!!! She is simply too wacko pour moi! Have fun though...and yeah, you might as well save those pix for when Tiff comes back. It just wouldn't be right otherwise.
Glad to hear you had a blast at the Elton concert. I love his pudgy little fingers too! How'd the new stuff play live? I got the CD, but couldn't really get into it. It sounded too much like a shoddily recycled version of his last CD for my taste, but I didn't really give it a fair shot. Glad to hear he played some of the classics though. You simply must have Tiny Dancer and Your Song. I'm quite partial to Levon myself (so glad he played that at the show I saw!)
I haven't listened to your show in a while, groupie, but I seem to remember it being pretty good. I just got my show from him (Anaheim I) and it's pretty good. Oh, and I also got a chance to copy my Joshua Tree show from Boston (though 40 is missing, which I didn't realize) and a ZooTV show. Drop me a PM sometime and let me know what you'd like and I'll send them along. I just got those DVDs too. They're actually really great pro-shot videos. I don't know when I'll get a chance to convert those, since I'll have to use a friend's copier, but they're in hand, so...Anyway, I'm off. Talk to you ladies later!

Well, I have no firm plans of yet, Mabel! But one day we will be united. *sigh*
And I may as well see Elton while I'm there!
Well that only makes sense, Ellie! Might as well hit two birds w/ one stone, as they say!
I was wasting time on VH1 yesterday and they had these FABULOUS (by which I mean hideous) pics of Celine pre-dental work. YOWza. We'll have to get some of those for Tiff as a welcome-home post
Celine was indeed a frightening youth...that kind of implies that she's not freakish in her own way now, but whatever!
Here's a nice preview for Tiff's welcome home images. As you can see, lovely Celine still had *stellar* fashion sense as a child.
ETA: drat. Didn't work. Well, let me try another one. Not nearly as good as the other one, though.

Celine always goes for these white outfits that beautifully complement her figure. Here's another one in the progression.
Okay, I promise it's over. I don't know what came over me! I deleted this last one because it screwed up the spacing. I seriously have way too much time on my hands. I'm finished! Updated On: 5/10/05 at 07:00 PM
