I can see it...maybe Ellie's the one who's rabid/drunk!
Haha. Actually, I think I just fixed it. It's huge, though, I don't know how to make them smaller.
Yeah, when it came up all I saw was the stripes on Goldblum's shirt, and I just skimmed over it...no need to see THAT large a picture of myself (it's like listening to your voice on the answering machine!)

Okay, now I see it, hooray! I guess he doesn't look so smarmy after all. Was he really wearing pointy shoes? The ones that curl up, like elves shoes?
Did you catch anyone from Spamalot at the Shubert door - is that what those people are in the background are waiting for?
P.S. Love those glasses!
I actually didn't see the pointy shoes, but I'm going out on a limb, guessing they weren't pointy elf shoes.
Oh, and thanks for the compliment on the glasses. I was going to say that if you watch the Coldplay special on MTV, look for the chick in the red glasses (I'm sure I'd be the only one!)
And we didn't catch any of the Spammers. I still need to snag Tim Curry sometime...OH, and Elphie, did you see that they shot the Tony nominee photo in TS after the Wednesday mat? Too bad we didn't know, we could have killed some time watching them...though, it makes me wonder even more why Billy had his helmet. Would he really have time to go ANYWHERE after a nearly 3 hour show and doing to photo shoot? I think not. Does he just feel "special" walking around w/ a motorcycle helmet? Whatever, he's beyond hot, so he can carry around whatever the hell he wants to!
Oh, Elphie, I think I've decided that Shadow reminded me a bit of Tom Hewitt...at least his headshot. Is this any closer than Michael Sthulberg's resemblance to Joaquin Phoenix?? Look at his headshot (looks a bit more like him than he did in person).

The leather jacket is also exceedingly hot.
haha. Mabel, I'm sorry, but I don't know where you come up with these similarities in appearances. I mean, I guess I can kind of see a resemblance, but only after you pointed it out. And I'll concede that Shadow (and Sky/Steve) looks more like Tom Hewitt than Michael Stahlberg looks like Joaquin Phoenix. But that's not saying much.
Yup, I did see that they shot the Tony nominees there. I wish we had known! Oh well.
Ellie, the Spamalot door was incredibly crowded (although I know it doesn't look like it in that picture; I think those are just the stragglers). I don't think we would have been able to catch any of them and still get autographs at The Pillowman. I've already got pictures with Tim Curry, Hank Azaria, David H-P, Sara Ramirez, and Chris Sieber, so I wasn't too concerned about that. It's a crazy stage door, and it's hard to get a good spot, which we wouldn't have been able to do (I think we got out after them).
Goldblum's shoes were not quite elf-like; they didn't really curl up (maybe a little bit) so much as stick out. They were huge, too. I mean really huge. I've never seen anyone with feet that big. I guess the pointiness exagerated the size.
And yes, the motorcycle helmet just added to the sex appeal, so I don't care if he didn't have anywhere to go.
Ahaha! Billy didn't really have to go anywhere. He just decided that he had the leather jacket rocking, so he might as well have the added prop!
They had a mini-interview w/ U2 and showed Elevation on GMA this morning. I must say, I am NOT looking forward to the Chicago DVD. The filming is VERY NYPD Blue w/ random extended close-ups on totally random things like Bono's hand or Larry's cymbols. I was less than impressed. I'm sure I'll probably pick it up sometime (or ask for it for Christmas) but I don't think it'll be one of those "must get it the morning it comes out and watch it as soon as I get home" sort of deals!
And ok, I guess I wasn't able to redeem myself w/ Shadow/Hewitt. *sigh*
Have fun at the concert tonight, Elphie!!! YAY!!!
I didn't watch GMA this morning yet (I taped it), but I saw it yesterday. It wasn't so bad, I liked Beautiful Day.
I upgraded my U2 ticket to section 212 (the guy who sold it to me keeps accumulating more and is letting me trade mine back for a better one). My old ticket was in the absolute LAST row of the stadium behind the stage, so anything would be better than that. I'm going to head in early and check out the box office to see if we can score GAs, but I'm happy with my seat now. I'm so excited!
Well, tell him if he accumulates ANY $50 seats to the 5/26 show, you've got someone who will GLADLY take them off his hands!
Have fun, and good luck on the GA front!

I'm back!
I had a great time. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with the setlist, but it's my own fault for getting my hopes up.
I got into the city around 3 and checked the line at the box office; it was insane, so I didn't even bother getting in line. There were lots of people waiting for tickets. I met up with the guy who sold me my ticket and we wandered around for a few hours. We walked past this Irish pub on 44th street and I could have sworn I saw Bono outside with a few people around him. My friend was lagging behind talking on his phone so he didn't see. 'Bono' went inside after I heard him say he was hungry. After a minor freakout from me, we discovered that a U2 tribute band was playing there and that the guy must have been the 'fake Bono.' He looked so much like him, though, that it was scary. We ended up back at MSG and there were people waiting around an entrance where they said the band entered around 4pm for a soundcheck. They were expecting the band to come back out. We got there around 6 and waited 'til about 7 when we decided to give it up and go inside the Garden. We figured they must either be staying inside or had already left some other way.
I bought a poster inside that says "Madison Square Garden 5/21/05" on it. I might get a t-shirt in November, but I decided not to go for that this time. Kings of Leon weren't that bad. I liked a couple of their songs. Like my ticket buddy put it, though, you can only understand the lead singer when he's screaming profanities.
My seat was directly behind the stage in section 215. I was sitting around some friendly guys, which was good at first until I decided they were *too* friendly. The guy directly in front of me was also by himself. He kept leaning back to talk to me during the concert. He would tell me what song it was, except he'd figure it out long after I had already recognized the song. He just kept making these random comments, most of which I couldn't even hear. Then the guy next to me started trying to dance with me towards the end of One. I humored him for a while, and then he started rubbing my neck. I kind of moved away from him and the guy in front of me started yelling at the other guy (this was before they came out for the encore). He shoved him and told him to stay away from me and the guy kinda shoved him back. So they're about to break into this fight and the guy in front of me luckily decided to stop it, so he stood right behind me (I was on the aisle, so he was standing in the aisle) to keep an eye on the guy next to me. He kept telling me to tell him if I felt uncomfortable with the other guy and he would "take care of it." For the rest of the concert, the guy next to me kept singing (screaming) the songs in my ear and I kept yelling at him to be quiet, while the other guy was watching us like a hawk. It was very strange. The guy next to me was incredibly drunk. So that kinda pissed me off, even though all that drama didn't start until the very end of the concert.
There's really not much to say about the actual concert; you guys know the setlist and probably read about it on Interference. The energy in the place was great. It's such a cool feeling when that many people are all singing along. I won't give too much away about all the lighting techniques and special effects, but it's really, really cool what they do. The band just has this amazing presence that makes it such a fun live experience. I took tons of pictures, but I'll only post a few here because you don't need to see all of them and they're not very good (my camera doesn't zoom and I was pretty far away).

Sorry, I don't know why that last picture is so big. Anyway, that's all I'll post. Bono did turn around a lot and sing to those of us behind the stage, which was cool. I read about lots of celeb sightings, but I didn't see anyone. Apparently Ed Burns, Julia Roberts, P. Diddy, and David Bowie were there (we knew Bowie was there because they played part of a Bowie song and said something like "he's in the house."
LOTS of people got tickets from the box office that day, but I didn't feel like waiting in line, and I was okay with my seat. GAs were apparently released between 8-9, and I wouldn't have wanted to wait that long.
Thanks for the review and pix! Sounds like you had quite the experience! I'm really looking forward to my 218 seats now. It looks like you were pretty close to the stage, considering!!!
I've got to run, but I'm glad you had a great time (even if it wasn't the best setlist...I'm sure I'll have the same one on Tuesday, minus some of the snippets)
This thread is always at the top of the board taunting me over my lack of tickets. And now pictures to rub salt in the wound!

Glad you had a fab time, Elphie. Thanks for the review and the pics! How could you be disappointed though? You were at a U2 concert, woman!!!!! Hope the jerkwanks beside you didn't detract from your enjoyment too much - oh well, you'll just have to see them again! And again, and again. Are they playing New Zealand at all?
And has Bono put on a few pounds?
I think I read somewhere that they were supposed to play Australia/New Zealand in 2006 sometime. Dunno.
ETA: Jezabel, I'm not sure where you live, but maybe you can snag a pair of tix that they (often) release on the day of the show if they play near you on the third leg...I hope you get a chance to see them some time!
Nah, Ellie, I wasn't disappointed with the concert, I just might have been slightly more ecstatic had I heard Bad. But I had an *amazing* time; it was surreal to see them perform live after being a fan for so long. I can't even explain how cool it was. And no, Bono has not noticeably gained weight. He's perfect.
I think they're playing Australia in early 2006, but I'll be gone by then. I still want to snag tickets to their second November MSG show, because it seems pretty easy to do the day of the show.
