GIVEN good health insurance? Hardly. You pay for it. You pay a lot for it. And in return, your insurer will look for every opportunity not to pay anything for you when you need health care.

What about people who run an independant buisness?? For instance,I'm a hairstylist.... who is going to pay for my health insurance??

Oftentimes, sole proprietors or small business owners can join their local chamber of commerce and buy into bene packages thru that.

eta: you pay for it, but at lower rates than you as an individual may get.

nobody has addressed the moral hazard argument. Isn't the United States an entirely unique case in the context of the rest of the world, especially when one looks at the obesity epidemic?

So, you think that just because YOU can't afford good health insurance WE should have to pay for your insurance! I don't think so. This is the land of opportunity... look for a better job. Or, here's a thought, instead of spending money on a dinner out or that dress you've been eyeing .. spend your money on your health care. But, guess what no one wants to spend their money on healthcare, they want people who work hard for a living to pay for it! I'm tired of this entitlement mentality! Stop posting and go look for a decent job!

This isn't about people who can afford healthcare but choose not to purchase, it's about the people who can't afford it at all.

Or freelancers. Despite what those signs in the subway might say, it's a bitch for a freelancer to find decent, affordable insurance.

( and why not? I pay taxes so that peoples children can go to school, while I have none, and I DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT IT. I pay taxes for roads I drive on AND I DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT it....the list goes on. I would have no problem paying a little more so that all could have medical care)

(THAT is about the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. There are many people who cannot get a better job, or whose job was shipped to India. They work just as hard as I do yet they cannot afford health insurance on what they make.)
