When did it become okay for a guy who is nearly your boyfriend to start IMing another girl, who he just met the night before, who you hate and he clearly knows it, who is a big slut, and ask to make out with her? Oh, apparently... tonight.
You know, I'm not sure what he's doing now. Who cares.
i would NEVER wear jeans to the theater!
it's a "dress up" thing!
Jeans to the theater??? Even my 15 knows better than that!
and i would NEVER go with someone wearing jeans.
I guess you and I won't be going to the theatre anytime soon.
we'll go shopping and then to the show!
I like that idea! I'll be hungry too, so you'll need to make reservations at a nice restaurant for us.
Whatever the nicest French restaurant in the city is.
LMAO Matt_G..
I'm down for a nice candelit french dinner and taking in a good show...

I almost always wear jeans to the theatre because theatre should be for everyone, not just elitists who judge others for their appearances. Theatre should not be just be for the rich. It's not a fashion show. If you disrupt the show (by talking, not turning off your cell phone, making out during the show), that's a problem. If you wear jeans, why should anyone care?
But it's so much FUN to dress up!!!
But if you don't have the time to change, a pain of nice jeans with a nice top is just the trick. I almost always wear jeans to the theatre. Updated On: 8/31/04 at 11:06 PM

Sure it's fun, but it's not a special occasion for all of us. For some of us it's a way of life. And I wear jeans almost every day. I shouldn't have to dress up just to avoid being judged by others.
Monkey has a point. It is fun to dress up. But when you go see every show like a lot of us do, it just doesn't happen.
I guess, for me, it depends what theater. Like, I had to go to this horribly boring concert, and the variety in clothing was actually really cool. I saw a bunch of people wearing gowns, and some wearing t-shirts and jeans.
Now is it more acceptable to wear jeans to a matinee than to a night show?
I would say yes. I think of day as a more casual time.
In NYC it's such a strange thing because there are so many tourists. They stay out sight seeing all day long and than go to a show. There's no reason for them to dress up. You're sitting in a dark room for 2 hours. It's not a fashion show.

Look, I wear jeans to the opera, and people in tuxes and evening gowns just look like they're trying WAY too hard. Who are they trying to impress? If there's a dress code, I'll follow it. If there's not, then I'll wear what I want.
