A local TV station has put together a slideshow with all the "out" gay celebrities. Personally, I will consult it often-- when I am watching the Late Late Show and you find myself wondering "God, did that queen ever come out?"
And it was obviously put together by a Friend of Dorothy's: Notice how they illustrate the ONE out gay male from the TV Show Frasier with a photo that includes several "Usual Suspects."
THE LIST-- a slide show!

Fannie is part of the Charlottesville crowd like Rita Mae and Sue Grafton.
And her cat wears flannel.

Posted: 11/7/06 at 1:11pmShe was, of course, in the very gay film, SOME OF MY BEST FRIENDS ARE. Whatever happened to that movie? Saw it in 1971, while in college, then, never again.

Isn't John Mahoney gay also?
Funny they mention Dan Butler but not him.

I have loved Fanny Flagg with an unreasonable devotion since childhood. It all makes sense now! But, I had no idea!
Aren't they ALL Day Dreamer?

Some of My Best Friends Are was on cable recently. I'd never seen it before...
Rue McClanahan is in it as well.

Posted: 11/7/06 at 1:59pmI didn't remember her, because I didn't know her, at the time. I did know Fannie Flagg, in 1971. I would like to see it again. How was it? I don't remember thinking it was very good, but I found it very interesting.

Like a milder "Boys in the Band." I liked it alot, tho it isnt great by any means...very interesting as a time/period piece.
I liked the subplots, but there is a definite air of sadness in everyone's story.

You can also see more of Ms. Flagg when the boxed set of MATCH GAME comes out later this month.
She is also a wonderful writer and you can see her list of books on amazon.com. Her latest is CAN'T WAIT TO GET TO HEAVEN which is wonderful.
Dumb Dora is so dumb!! How dumb is she? She tried to blank her birthday suit.

Issues with that feature:
1.) Since when is the son of a famous writer a "celebrity," ie Anne Rice's son?
2.) OMFG, George Michael and Elton John are GAY?!? Come on now. Do we really need to waste precious Internet space on those revelations?
3.) The Queer Eye guys? No sh!t they're openly gay. Their celebrity is based on the fact that THEY ARE INDEED GAY.
Argh.

OK...I'll totally admit it. I LOVED Christopher Rice's book DENSITY OF SOULS...and kinda liked his THE SNOW GARDEN. Haven't read LIGHT BEFORE DAY.
I never claimed to have highbrow reading tastes.

Noone was better on Match Game than Fannie.
I'm not sure I got her jokes either.
And...Fried Green Tomatoes is a much better book than movie.
And...I wish I got to see Fannie play Miss Mona.

Check out her books.
She was also in Joan Rivers's RABBIT TEST [not on DVD], FIVE EASY PIECES, and toured in the 1980s in THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE.

Christopher Rice has published 3 novels.
Granted, they're not great, but he's made a name for himself.
(I doubt he would've been published had it not been for his mom, but that's another thread.)

See, I didn't realize that he was a writer as well. All I saw when I looked at the caption next to his name was "son of Anne Rice," or something along that line.
I apologize to all the Rice queens out there.
I stick by my other points, though.

Her first book "Coming Attractions" was the first adult novel I bought ... I had to be under ten years old, but loved her on T.V. so much I had to get her first book. I read the first chapter, very slowly and thought it was a hoot. I never did finish it, however...
It was later re-titled something else.
