the first thing i thought was, "oh she pissed off the teleprompter people." wouldn't be the first time bacall has pissed off or on a "little person." i'm not saying she's a bitch, but i have heard stories to that effect.

Her problems certainly seemed to be because she wasn't wearing specs. However, she seemed pretty pissed at someone.

I've seen her a couple of times in Central Park walking her dog. Nobody ever recognizes her.

Ms Bacall was shaking, too. Was it nerves or age? She walked very stiffly, too. I was thinking that they should have had her with some nice young man as an "escort" to stand with her.

Did they give her a standing ovation? Maybe that's why she was mad.
Exhibit C: "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" (and it's hard, apparently, for that female soloist to stay on pitch).
LOL!!! It's hard... out here... for a.... PEEE*crack*EEIIIIIMP!!!!!!!!
I felt so uncomfortable during the Bacall thing. I was afraid something really serious was about to happen, and then she recovered. Whew, what a relief! She looked damn good for her age. I thought she was one of the most beautiful woman in the world when she was young.
Also, that embarrassing activity with the fire during the Crash song! OMG, I was looking at what the individual actors/dancers? were doing and it was so bad. Why did they have to have that crap going on for that number? If you're going to do that, then bring back those tacky but fabulous production numbers they used to do on the oscars.
I thought the Lily and Meryl thing was brilliant. The fact that it COULD go on so long was for me, testimony to how great both women are at improv.
Ben's thing was stupid!
Along with the Matt Dillon Character sticking his hand through the Thandie Newton Character's Legs!
Lauren Bacall scared me too! I thought maybe she was having a stroke or something! Also wasn't she wearning a pant suit? She looked just like she does on Broadway's Lost Treasures!
Stewart was strangely subdued and not all that funny, as was Stiller.
Bacall seemed to merely having teleprompter problems, but it was sad to have her go so wrong, live at 80-something, with a giant pic of her young, beautiful self smirking in the background.
The stupidest thing was Disney's yearly plug for their next DVD by having some damn ugly CGI crap deliver an award. I realize they own ABC, but every year it's the same: if it's not the cast of Monsters Inc, it's poor Edna from The Incredibles. Disney sucks now, and they used to have my heart.
The Pimp Song was an embarrassment, but all of the sings were stupid. Dolly singing "Ooo-ooo-ooo-whoo!" is NOT Oscar-worthy-did her song even HAVE words? I tuned her out as quickly as the Pimp Song and the Burning Car Song.
The words stupid & lame come to mind
