Discuss.
Exhibit B: the atrocities that were the Debbie Allen (could anyone else have committed this heinous act besides Debbie) -inspired "Scene" during the song from Crash.
Exhibit C: "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" (and it's hard, apparently, for that female soloist to stay on pitch).

Who was she?
Probably.

That and the make up bit. Stiller should be embarrassed (one 's' or two?)
Thanks Cpt.

Two.
Steve reminded me of the Emcee, with the white face and eye lashes. All he needed was lipstick.
Actually, I laughed at the Will and Steve bit.

But who got paid for writing the Stiller sketch? I could have done better than that.
I also think it was disturbing what David Letterman said about Steve Martin's "kids". It was a bit too creepy.
Maybe I need to buy a sense of humor.
Meryl and Lily... hands down the BEST part for me.
I liked all the expressions that George Clooney made when the camera was on him. specially when that one woman said she thanked that academy for sitting her next to him, then the camera went on him and he was like "what?"
also, when Ton Hanks was killed by the orchestra. I laughed the hardest then. cause I don't like him. specially now that he is in Da Vnci Code being in his 50s and with a mullet when he is suppose to be ruggedly handsome.

Yeah, Tom Hanks didn't look so good in that bit, even though it was funny.
yeah, but I mean the whole movie. suppose to be 'ruggedly handsome' and he looks like that. makes no sense.
and the meryl and lily thing was WAY too long. it stopped being funny after like 40 seconds.
Actually, Ben Stiller came up with and did the writing for his bit. I heard that on the news this morning.
i loved it. but then i like anything that makes ben look like an idiot. heck i loved mystery men for the same reason. years from now, when this year's oscars are long forgotten, there will still be photos of ben in the unitard floating around the internet. "this is blowing spielberg's mind!"
i also loved the meryl and lily thing...and laughed hysterically at letterman and steve's kids.
on the other hand, i thought the hanks bit blew.
takes all kinds, folks.
Tom Hanks' bit looked like an SNL sketch. And while I chuckled at seeing a poison dart shot out of a clarinet, it seemed kind of out of place.
My mom sure loved the Ben Stiller thing. The only parts of the show that made her laugh harder were the fake campaign ads and the Western montage.

I really liked the intro this year, especially Whoopie.

Now I'm bummed that I went to bed before the Western montage. DAMNit!
And I honestly have to say that Ben Stiller saying, "This is blowing Spielberg's mind!" in his weird Ben Stiller way was pretty funny.
The most painfully awkward moment of the night was when poor Lauren Bacall was up there and kept messing up as she read the intro to another one of the endless montages. I had to leave the room.

bacall seemed drugged and Jennifer Gardener was clearly drunk

I was having Axel Rose flasbacks from the Grammys.

I thought that Bacall was having a stroke live in front of us then I thought that she couldn't read the teleprompter (maybe she didn't want to wear her glasses).
Bacall=on too many medications to count.

Don't you think that's really sad, though? You've got this great classic movie star who looks like she's high on national television. I really just had to step away from the tv.
But she looked beautiful, considering.
Favorite awards show moment of this season is still Shirley Temple Black getting her Lifetime Achievement Award at the SAGs. She was absolutely radiant.
Actually, it tied with most of John Stewart's material (as well as his timing, Ahmish wagons crossed state lines before John reached some of his punchlines).

"then I thought that she couldn't read the teleprompter (maybe she didn't want to wear her glasses)."
That's what I thought.
