It's not like my not wanting to see him screaming means I wouldn't pay good money to lick that vein on his right bicep or anything.

One reason I prefer Restaurant Impossible is that the host of that show shuts down whiny owners with an inarguable fact: "If your restaurant was as perfect as you say it is, you'd be a success and I wouldn't be here. Your restaurant is failing. I am telling you WHY."
Matt...there is a version of Hotel GB here. I believe it was called Hotel Hell. It aired earlier this year on Fox. I don't believe it was a full season but I think it's coming back this fall for an entire season. I thought the few episodes they did run were great.
I used to hate Gordon because of Hell's Kitchen. Then I caught a marathon of the British Kitchen Nightmares and got hooked. Now I'm a full blown Gordonphile. I'm even hooked on Hell's Kitchen.
Hotel Hell
I've seen Hotel Hell, but that is not the same type of show at all. Hotel GB is more like Hell's Kitchen, but with many different makeover hosts overseeing different groups of the hotel staff and training them to run a hotel. The staff are currently unemployed and looking for jobs (some with prior records, seeking to pick up skills and turn things around). Guests (including some wealthy socialites and celebrities) have the option during the week of training to either pay, not pay, or tip excessively. The team with the highest in tips at the end of the training wins and one person gets offered a full-time job at the hotel. The proceeds go to charity.
I loved it, but unfortunately, it was canceled after the first season due to poor ratings.
Hotel GB Episode 1
"One reason I prefer Restaurant Impossible is that the host of that show shuts down whiny owners with an inarguable fact: "If your restaurant was as perfect as you say it is, you'd be a success and I wouldn't be here. Your restaurant is failing. I am telling you WHY."
But the thing here is that their restaurant WASN'T failing. The ONLY reason she called him in there was because that guy wrote a bad review on Yelp and she went batshlt crazy and there was some bad press. She wanted a world famous chef to validate her on national TV as a "F*CK You" to that guy on Yelp and everyone who thought she was insane.
Jordan, I agree that's what it boils down to. But she also says at the top of the show that they've lost a lot of money since that Yelp review and--the part she doesn't get--her response to it.
But you're right: She still believed everything was hunky dory and that they were just the victims of online bullying.

So they decided that what a money-laundering scheme needs is a big shot of publicity? Lord . . .
That spotlights an existing illegal practice: withholding tips
And physically assualting a customer.
Though this does make me think about one moment that I found interesting: When Amy grabs her cellphone to call the police on the "pansy," Samy gets pretty hysterical, telling her not to call the police.

I know it's not really important, but when she gets angry, she blinks violently. After noticing it, the episode was nearly impossible to watch because I was laughing so hard.

Jordan the restaurant is failing- they said it hadn't been profitable in six years. Her obsession that everything was fine was just another false premise she hung on to.
If I was in Scottsdale, I would go regularly with a T-Shirt that says "Slutty Bitches Like Eating Out"
Pretty sure that if she wants human kids at some point, she should ask Celine Dion for advice.
I'm surprised they have their phone number on the sign. I was sure the phone had committed suicide by now.
I know that someone posted they hired a PR company and have rescheduled an opening, but there's a little more to it:
The couple has retained PR firm Rose + Moser + Allyn, and yesterday's press release states that "[On Tuesday,] customers will be able to decide who is correct: a famous celebrity chef or the marketplace that has supported the small, locally-owned business for six years." They will only allow a limited number of diners into the restaurant on Tuesday, who will be screened via e-mailing the publicist first. Also, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to "a charity organized to bring awareness to cyber bullying."
WHAT??? They will SCREEN who they let in on their grand opening? I wonder if they will have to state (and sign) some sort of agreement that they will only post positive comments!
OY, these people are nuts. You can tell that THEY told the PR folk exactly what to say in the PR. Sounds just like Amy.
Full Article -- but nothing much else new.
The funny thing about the PR company is that the president of said company went on a radio show to laugh about ABC one day before taking them on as a client. He spoke of how saving the place was hopeless and it was one of the worst possible PR moves he'd ever seen. He said, in reference to the statement about getting hacked, that lying about it was just stupid. So, yeah, hopeless until you are giving me money. Then, suddenly, there are two sides to every story.
I find it hard to believe the full press release was written by ANY professional. It is HORRIBLY written. The only thing that even remotely points to the PR firm actually being involved is that the email address provided for "reservations" for the grand opening DOES look like it belongs to the firm.
It's odd that the press release is linked to the FB page.
Read the entire "press release here"
They're just going to keep banging their heads against the same wall until . . . until what?
The only way to get past this is stop shrieking about how they've been poorly treated by everyone. (Really, stop shrieking in general.)
That, or just run the place as a side show attraction and stop worrying about what people say about the food.
