I loved how they had all the regular Weekend Update characters there to celebrate. What a lovely sendoff for Stefon.
I had no idea until I just read on BWW that this is Hader's final show. I hope he has something fantastic lined up. He really deserves it.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Terrific final Stefon. I am going to have to freeze frame it a few times to see all of the characters on Stefon's side of the aisle at church. I know I saw the human traffic cones, some Furkels, and obviously DJ Baby Bok Choy.

That last sketch/song had me tearing up. I thought this was a comedy show...

At long, long last, a Sex Pistol finally appeared on the SNL stage!
Some of us have been waiting since December, '77.

Namo Blow J Simpson was in attendance as are Hobo Cops, a sleeping geisha. Not to mention Alf (moi ) and coke addicted Gizmo (moi again). There was also a Jewish Vampire and Dora the Menorah, German Smurfs. There were buff guys in swim suits and cupids
It was a long shoot but we knew it was going to be a classic. A great send off to both Stefon and Seth (who will still be on SNL next season half way through).

I forgot about Dora the Menorah! It was truly epically fabulous. Alf was perfect.
I also thought Kanye was fantastic. I'm sure it's jarring to people who only listen to pre-approved gay music lists produced for gay environments, but give me some dissonance, some darkness, some edge and some danger over all of the pre-approved singing competition runners-up and NPR-approved safe rock any day of the week, but especially on a Saturday night.

Thanks for the dig, Namo.
The second song was better than the first. I used to like Kanye but I couldn't understand any of the lyrics in the first song and I only followed about half the second. Maybe I had to be there.
I actually like "some dissonance, some darkness, some edge and some danger". That usually happens on a Saturday night in SOMA though.

If you meant it was embarrassing because you were confused by it, forgive me for the dig. Given that you have made it clear that you have narrow parameters to what you listen to, you might just have to accept it wasn't meant for you at all.

I admit I have a very boring taste in music, but I like what I like.
I posted the embarrassing comment about the first song.
The visuals used weren't interesting to me. Since you never saw his face, I was stuck with the quick cuts to different signs. The song itself was very monotone. He spoke the entire thing. I really enjoy slam poetry and the like, but those performers know how to enunciate.
Wasn't my cup of tea.
As for the show, I missed the opening and the monologue. Came into during Bengo F***. I thought it was funny. Loved the gay camp one too.
I did get a little teary-eyed during Weekend Update. Loved having Amy back for the "Really?!" segment and the rest of it. Loved Stefon.
I'm a little ignorant when it comes to artists, but I only knew Amy Mann in the final song. I enjoyed it but my boyfriend had to tell me who the rest of them were.

"Aimee." And how dare you suggest that you don't sound like somebody's nana when writing about music?

I am surprised this is newsworthy. It was expected he was leaving after the election last season. I guess they offered him enough to stay it out.

Good grief! The only thing I can look forward to is if they do the 'Real Housewives of Disney' again.

Personally, I hope Lindsay does a GREAT job. I'm rooting for her to get her act together. She was fun on Chelsea Lately. It would be fun to do a "Mean Girls" update sketch. I also loved the RHOD!

Wardrobe dept must be upset they won't need to have any costumes for her since she has been doing many things nude (or almost nude) lately. See the new music video of her riding a wrecking ball au natural?
